SIOM_Review

Through out my academic career SIOM was the best place I have attended.

As I always wanted to do MBA I took MH CET and managed to score 72% percentile and got myself in one of the prominent MBA institute in Pune i.e. SIOM.

The course curriculum was designed by the Pune University and was quiet okay, However, the SIOM believed in developing the student for the corporate world and not just for the exams by means of various activities to develop the managerial skills in the students.

SIOM did invite companies for internship, however, the college focused on final placement rather than internship program. Therefore, the number of companies that were invited for the internship were less compared to number of companies invited for the final placement.

Placement was the key factor I choose SIOM. number companies were invited for the campus selection including big companies like HUL, TCS, and many other regional & international players. however, most of the companies came for the marketing students while rest branches like finance, hr, operation, IB had less opportunities compared with marketing. the average package offered during the placement was around 3-4 LPA.

SIOM is a part of SInhgad Institutes which holds the mega cultural and sport event called "Karandak" and has thousands of students participating in this a month long event. SIOM also organize many internal competitions like business plan, market research, business innovation. also organize the corporate visits.

The annual fees was 1.8 L and there were numerous scholarships awarded by the state government for low income groups and reserved categories, The fee structure was bit expensive but it was justifiable by the facility provided in college.

College did not offered loan directly but did support the loan processing from any bank by means of documents required by bank also the non teaching staff was patient towards the student until the loan is sanctioned by bank. The college was also providing all the scholarships offered by the state government.

SIOM is located on a hilltop in a lush greenery with gardens, play grounds, swimming pool, multiple canteen and cultural center. cultural center or CC is the most lively part of the campus which hosts the numerous cultural, political (college election), and social activities. the campus shows a healthy gender ratio and since the admission is given on the merit basis there is no such things like religious inclination, political & economical inclination.

I did not stay in hostel but many of may friends were staying in hostel. it was clean and having 2-3 student living in a room. room was well furnished with separate bed and study table for each student. the hostel was equipped with WiFi. and had a TV room and has a small game zone.

The college organize the alumni meet every year in the college campus. The college also has started to organize the alumni meet in other cities including Delhi & Bengaluru for those who can not attend the alumni meet in campus. the college has strong alumni network which drives the placements.

There is no getaway from exams. one has to face it anyway, however unlike Engineering MBA dose not involves the laboratories and stiff like that. It wasn't hectic at all.
