Remarks
The college is more than adequate for a good education. It includes the course curriculum which is updated and revised to keep up with the trends along with well equipped labs for conducting further research and addinng industry visits which gives students more of a hands-on experience before they finally graduate and go out in the real world.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course has been designed very holistically starting from the history of interior design and slowly progressing to more complex topics like orthographic projection, elements of design, graphic presentation etc. This is coupled with workshops and an interior design industry visit that gives much needed practical readiness to students. The course is not only very interesting but it is fun too.
Placement Experience
The placement opportunities are spectacular for the hard-working students with a great number of the students getting placed immediately after graduating, under famous designers and famous companies. Companies even offered a minimum salary of Rs 60,000 per month. The maximum salary package hovers around 3 LPA.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees can be a little expensive at around 3 lakhs, but that is more than compensated for by the centralised wi-fi, the well-equipped labs such as draping lab, textile lab, garment manufacturing lab etc. There is an option provided by the college to pay the fees in instalments however, making it easier to afford the college.
Campus Life
Although JDIFT is largely study oriented, there are numerous extracurricular activities for students to take part in, ranging from around a dozen societies that conduct competitions, fashion shows, model walks etc. Outdoor activities are also a part of this fledgling fashion college which enables students to not only focus on one discipline.
Admission
The admission happens completely on a merit basis depending on the percentage secured in 12th board examinations (from any certified examination board in any stream). The UG Diploma course is for three years and I chose the Undergraduate Diploma in Interior Design over Fashion Design since my family has an interior designing business and it has always interested me.
Faculty
The faculty are well trained and knowledgeable professionals who keep themselves well versed with happenings in the industry ands keep us apprised of the same. Most of them are members of the IID industry and have great experience. They help inculcate in the students a great work ethic revolving around hard work and thinking outside the box.
