Srimad Andavan Arts and Science College is an autonomous institution. It is managed by the Sri Ranganatha Paduka Vidyalaya Trust. It is recognised as SIRO by DSIR New Delhi. They encourage innovative and creative ideas.
Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus of M.Sc., Biotechnology is framed in such a way, that it deals with all the concepts in-depth. The college has a curriculum development cell. Their work is to regularly preview the syllabus and updating the curriculum for each program. We also have practical papers to enhance hands-on training.
Placement Experience
The career development cell of the college is a big team of faculties and student representatives. Through their constant support, now the number of appointment orders and interviewees has increased. The top recruiters are ICICI, Omega healthcare, Vikatan magazine, TVS, TCS, Wipro, IDBI, Indian healthcare, Thyrocare, etc.
College Events
The campus looks vibrant with celebrations throughout the year. The cultural wing of the college organized the biggest event Shishyas. Other than this, they organize events like fine arts, instrumental solo, mime, skit, dance, etc. The college encourages the students to participate in intercollegiate competitions and top the table.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee amount for the PG degree is around ?.19,000 per year of study. Apart from this, we have to pay the examination fee for every semester exam. The fee for the project and thesis is separate. Overall the package is affordable.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college encourages scholarship schemes for the students. The main schemes are Merit Scholarship, Merit cum Means Scholarship, Government Scholarship. In addition to this, the management provides scholarships to rank holders, to support physically challenged students and for proficiency awards. During admission, the students are given scholarship from admission fee for meritorious students.
Campus Life
The college has a sports and games club which supports many kinds of sports. We have separate teams for each sports and games. These teams participate at state and national level competitions and win trophies. The Student Adoption Program is framed to support and help the students. There is an anti-ragging cell for a ragging free campus.
Hostel Facilities
There is hostel accommodation for both boys and girls provided by the college separately. The rooms are maintained clean and well furnished. There is also dormitory facility available. The mess caters a delicious diet to the inmates. This food is tasted priorly by the representatives.
Alumni/Alumna
Andavan Alumni Association was established in the year 2006. They maintain a cordial relationship between the alumni and the present students of the college. They give motivational talks and guide the youth minds. They are provided with feedbacks and suggestions for the purpose of improving the college.
Admission
The application form is provided along with the prospectus at the college office. You have to pay ?.100/- for a PG course application form. The selection is purely based on the merit list released by the college. Since I had 83% in my UG degree, it was easy for me to get a seat.
Faculty
The department of Biotechnology works great to make the students impart quality education which will help them throughout their life. We have four female faculties and four male faculties. Dr.Thirumalaivasan is our HOD. All the faculties have a good work experience. The department never fails to organize workshops and seminars.
