Course Curriculum Overview
There isn't much focus on the curriculum, as the primary target of the course is the completion of the thesis on which awarding of the degree depends. There were one or two coursework subjects that emphasised on research methodologies and presentation.
Placement Experience
Placement statistics are not very high. Mostly, students apply for jobs off campus on their own. Some students did get jobs in smaller companies or startups. There are no internships provided to the students.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The cost per year for the Ph.D. course is about 20,000 per year, along with as few non-refundable costs at the start, which are about 2000 rupees. This is quite affordable, and overall, then, the fee structure is feasible.
Campus Life
Working long hours for researching, extracurricular activities are sometimes a good respite, and many students participated in such activities as a stress-buster or a hobby. Sports, music, dance are some of the extra curriculars.
Admission
The eligibility for admission to the Ph.D. course here is at least 5.0 CGPA in Master's degree. The department took an entrance test, with both written and oral rounds, for selection. I chose NITTTR because it is one of the better colleges in Chennai, and is closer to home.
Faculty
The Professor under whom I worked was a very experienced researcher, and he guided me throughout the years as I tried to accomplish the research. He helped me through the processes, explained the topics that were new to me, and overall, was very supportive.
