My experience with Vimala

Remarks :

Our college was with one keen motivation that is to intergrate women to the society and make them equals. We were trained and supported in every way possible to be an adequate member of society. From trainings to many other facilities Vimala has made me a viable active participant of the world.

Course Curriculum Overview :

My course was a three-year program with six semesters. We had two common courses, one complimentary course, one open course, and 17 core courses divided throughout the year. After each year we had exams that could determine us passing the course. The curriculum was from when the college was affiliated to the University of Calicut. They became autonomous in my last year.

Placement Experience :

Our college had a remarkable placement cell which made sure many companies come in for recruitment. Some companies that came in for recruitment were Federal bank, HDFC, Infosys, KMPG, Cognizant Technical Solutions, etc. They gave the students really good opportunities and salary packages.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Course fees were very reasonable and were 18,000 per annum. We had three years so it was 54,000 rupees in total. This was not counting the few additional fees the college asked for examinations, admission etc. But even so the fees were quite practical.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

In our college, meritorious students could avail different scholrships offered by the government of Kerala as well as the college. The reception could tell you more about it, my friend had availed from one of the 50 scholarship offered by the Scholar Support Programme.

Campus Life :

The college had the NSS, NCC and many other clubs that were accessible to all students. I was part of the NCC cadets. we used to have trainings and conducted other programs with the college. Our college had many functions like the Annual college day, we also had fairs and workshops.

Admission :

Admission to our college was merit-based. I had gotten 94 percent in my 12th standard and applied to the college for Sociology with my certificates. They contacted me after to come in for an interview, after which they let me know that i had to come to college for verification and admission.

Faculty :

Our faculty was a very determined bunch. Our professors were all considerate and helped us whenever we needed help. Sister professor Shipsy Augustine was one of the most considerate teachers. They were very organised and skilled in what they were teaching.

From the 3rd year onwards we could attend placement interviews and many companies used to approach our college but mostly IT companies as I was in civil dept the construction companies were very less or NIL. In our batch, most of the students got placed and many offer letters but the only disadvantage was the offers were not from the core companies.
