The National Institute of Virology (NIV) is a premier virus research laboratory in India affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University. It was established under the aegis of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Government of India, with a primary mandate of studying viral diseases in India, on an integrated platform. Candidates who have passed the first year of a 3-year degree course with subjects - Physics, Chemistry, Biology are also eligible Candidate must score at least 50% marks in the competitive exam. For SC/ST/OBC candidates the minimum percentage required is 40%.

The total faculty numbers in National Institute of Virology is 37.
