This College is one of the best Colleges in Ajmer City. Sophia Girls' College, Ajmer (Autonomous) maintains a standard. Discipline is very much in this College. Ragging is banned. In the month of May, admission form submission starts. For admission, we need to fill the online admission form from Sophia College Ajmer's official website. 500 /- is the form charge. We need to attach many documents with the hardcopy of the admission form while submitting it to the office. Admission is purely based on Merit. In the month of June, the Merit list comes. There is a Viva for taking admission in B.A. English Honours. We have to clear it for opting for this course. Teachers of the English Department take this Viva. Exams - There is a 20 marks test called the CIA held in the month of September and February. There is a Semester System (Two Semesters in a year). First End Semester Exam held in the month of December and Second in the month of April.
Course Curriculum Overview
B.A. English Honours is a degree for the students who are interested in literature. I am one of the students who are interested in literature. Faculty members are highly qualified and have years of teaching experience. Ma'am Sandra Lee (HOD of English Department) has the experience of more than 40 years. The teaching methods are so good and the discussion about student's silly queries is awesome. Nobody judges you. Everybody encourages you to achieve what you want. Exams time is two and a half hours and the paper is not too hard and not too easy and has moderate length. One can do it on time.
Placement Experience
Commerce students got Placements. I don't know much about placements because it's not my faculty. I going to give the NET exam and UPSC exam after completing graduation.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees for this course are 26,400/- including all the activities. We have to submit it in four installments now. One is in September, then in November, then in January, and then in April. The College provides scholarships to those who have financial problems. The college pays their fees. The College doesn't provide a job on campus.
Campus Life
Sophiesta - Annual Fest conducted in the month of January every year. Library has more than 38, 000 books (including all the streams) and has 2100 journals. All the departments have their own journals which publish twice a year. One in January and the other in May. Classrooms are not smart classrooms but it's comfortable. Sports - Inter College Tournaments conduct every year in November month, which include games like Athletics, Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, Cricket, Badminton, Kho - Kho, Kabaddi, etc. The whole year Co-Curricular activities are going on like Fresher's Day celebrated on 30 July, Sophia Day celebrated in May, Management Day (a day for peons), and many more. The College has a social group called NSS. The students of NSS conduct Nukkad Nataks and teach the poor children in the evening in the College itself. There are many clubs and forums. Spectrum, Picasso, Paheli, Nature, etc are all the clubs that organize activities.
