Good but could have been better

I see IBS as an average college where you get a fair mix of students, good curriculum, average faculty and very important average placement. So, if you desperately wants to get into some B School then go for it otherwise I would suggest try harder and get into some better one.

I took IBSAT for entrance. Other than this they used to accept CAT score also. The answer to why did I opt for this B school. Its because of their admission process schedule. They have a very carefully designed admission procedure. Last date for accepting the admission comes way before other B School even start their admission process.

Most of us have heard of the course curriculum of ICFAI university. The curriculum is very good but what is the sense of having such asset if the means of delivery is not good. I am talking about the faculty here.

We passed out in 2010. People say that it was the year of recession so I can understand the placements which we got. But looking at previous years I can comment that placements offer by our college were not that great. During our placement, most of the companies were coming up with marketing profile. I was surprised to see students from Finance, HR, IT were given no choice but to opt for such profiles.

We had few cultural and management event but no such technical festival I can think of. The events were not on a grand scale but they were good. Most of the events were organised by the student themselves. In fact I was one of the coordinator for the Annual Fest.

Looking at the infrastructure and the placements they offer. I consider it on a slight higher side. But I would say they offer few decent amount of scholarship which are not that difficult to get.

They have few. One is for needy, few academic performance based. One can get the loan also. Most of the banks offered loan to us. I personally got the academic one amounting to Rs 45000 in first semester. And as I mentioned its not even that difficult to get.

Our batch had a fair mix of people from different parts of the country. Had a good gender ratio 60:40 app. People from different stream were taken in to form a group for any activity. In fact I remember in our 1st semester student from different stream helping each other.

When we were there, they had two building about a kilometer away from the campus. They have few flats converted into a hostel. Once you pass first year, one has to look for the accommodation on their own.

We have a very strong network of Alumni. We have an Annual meet too wherein we meet and share experiences. Some of our Alumni visit campus for Placements too.

Exams were frequent and they properly scheduled. I would say neither it was hectic nor it was chill out. In fact this college gives slightly more weight to curriculum. It is so designed that you get a fair chance to improve your grades also.

As I mentioned above, the faculty is not that great. They have good qualifications but lack practical exposure, We had few visiting faculty with good industry exposure but thy were not that frequent in coming to the campus.
