Remarks
The college is very good in academics as the faculty are very knowledgeable individuals and have very good teaching skills. The campus Is well equipped considering it's just a dental college. The hostels are also pretty decent and have pretty good facilities like room service, laundry, WiFi all included in the hostel fees. The hostel bathrooms are also pretty new and well maintained. The patient flow is also pretty decent so it's possible to see really rare cases that you can treat. There is a very good senior Junior relationship here as there is zero ragging and students get along very well.
Course Curriculum Overview
I happened to choose the course as I was always planning to take up a medical degree so it just happened that the only course in the college was BDS which helped allot. The faculty-student ratio differs from subject to subject but the least that you would see is 1:50. The staff are usually MDS and are very well knowledgeable. Regular tests throughout the year happen along with 2 internal assessment exams and one annual exam in a year. Internals are not easy to pass as the faculty purposely make sure to grade them in a really tough manner so that students score fairly well in the annual exam which is graded by externals from the University. There are 3 theories and 4 practicals in the first year. 3 theory and 5 practicals in 2nd year. 3 theory and 3 practical I'm 3rd year and 8 theory and 8 practicals in 4th year followed by one year of internship.
Internships Opportunities
The internship is a compulsory one year part of the course and we are paid a stipend of a mere 25 RS per day. During the internship we are posted at different departments for a month each and expected to diagnose and treat patients and follow-ups.
Placement Experience
There are very few campus placements that occur in the college and this is only eligible for interns and that too for the non-clinic job and usually the placements provided are for a maximum of 3-5 out of a batch of 100 students. Usually, students after graduation either go for post-graduation it for private practice in clinics.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees of the college were 225000 of course per year taken as pay dated cheques internship doesn't have any fees and the cost of the hostel was 75000 which increases 5000 per year. There are no scholarships but some financial aids are provided to the Sc/St category if documents are provided and after applying.
Campus Life
The campus life isn't that great as the sole focus is academics and barely people even bunk in this college considering the attendance strictness. The college has great facilities like volleyball ground, cricket nets basketball court, library and several auditoriums for events if the college. The only college event is the annual shorts week which is organized by the intern batch and which goes on for a maximum of four days. And at the end of the fourth day, there is an annual day event. Other than this there aren't really many events in the college that is not academic. The college occasionally does conducts seminars and lectures by guest speakers. There aren't any clubs or any student unions either. The lecture hall can hold a 100 students at a time and are air-conditioned and have projectors and blackboards.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is inside the campus itself and rooms are usually at a triple sharing and they have the option of paying extra for AC rooms as well and even for double it even single occupant. They provide four meals a day and it's pretty decent and each day has the different items in a week. Mornings are usually parathas or bread or aloo Puri with tea. Lunch there is rice and roti every day with different daal and one sabji with raita and salad. The same is for dinner except that in place of raita the give a glass of milk and a sweet dish. The snack time had tea with a variety of snack items like samosas, macaroni, bread pakora, the chilla, etc, The bathrooms are very well maintained and have no issues. The hostel fees included housekeeping every day and laundry twice a week.
