Remarks
The infrastructure of the college is great but that is the only good thing about the institution.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is divided into four semesters. Initially, we were taught the basics of marketing communication, marketing mix and gradually were introduced to PR and event management. Post which we were taught the nitty-gritty of the subject.
Placement Experience
There has been no support in terms of placement in our course by the college. We were told that as the course is newly introduced hence the companies will not visit the campus and one has to apply in their individual capacity. In terms of placement, the institution does the least.
College Events
The is one annual fest that is celebrated every year in Amity, it has a well spread of sporting events, cultural activities and quiz. In this annual fest colleges affiliated to Amity University across India participate. the fest is restricted to amity colleges. Apart from the annual event there are many dept fest that happen every year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees is charged every year and differs from course to course. MBA, engineering and law has different set of fee structure. Amity school of communications the fee was divided in different semester. As our course was newly introduced hence it was no heavy on our pockets as compared to other courses. Still I would say it is on the higher side.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
Nope, neither did the college offered us any scholarship nor did I opt for any scholarship. Institution shared that the course was newly introduced hence there are no concessions. In other departments, there are various programmes under which one can enrol for scholarship.
Campus Life
The gender ratio is 50:50. Largely our education system is designed in a manner in which Theory has overtaken research-based case studies, dealing with practical issues and experiments. In a nutshell, the theory has worn out and is less relatable to the present context of knowledge.
Hostel Facilities
Nope, I didn't opted for a hostel. They are too expensive. Also the there are too many restriction are imposed on the students. In a way it is good but the management takes advantage of the same on several occasion.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes, there is a alumni network is run by the college. They are connected over the email and they contact the alumnus on very frequent basis.
Admission
I was fascinated with journalism and practised the same for less than 2 years. Post which I wanted to move to the corporate side and still wanted to be in close contact with journalism this is how joined this course. I was preparing entrance examination like MICA, XIC, IIMC however all the institution were offering Diploma courses in Publications. Hence one of the major reason for moving to Amity was a full-time course with a degree. I applied for the course and I received an interview letter or request from the institution. I appeared for the interview and was later shortlisted.
Faculty
I would not generalize my remarks for the aforementioned question. Every semester there was different format initially, our lectures use to start at 9:30 am and would go one till 4:30 pm. Lunch was from 12:30-1:30 pm. so there were 6 lectures in all. but over the period of time they were reduced to 5 and then 4. The average age of the lecturers would be around 42-45 years. 2-3 lecturers had a PHD rest all were MA. There very few who had in depth knowledge or expertise of the subject. also there were few who had not even worked in the sector that was one of the major reason that the knowledge was restricted to only theory.
