Remarks

I chose this University as I was not able to get admission for I.PhD. in a few institutes and specialization for M.Sc. in Human Genetics is provided by only a very few institutes across the country. Apart from this University has a good track record in researches, education and organizational funding from UGC, RUSA and DST-DBT.The presence of DRDO-Bharathiar University Centre for Life Sciences and other departments, motivated me to apply as it can help in interdisciplinary studies and researches. Several conferences and workshops are conducted in academia, life-skills, leadership etc. throughout the year and its a special place for finding students from varied background, state, nationality, culture and religion.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I should say the syllabus is updated. I have seen a very few institutes do that in India. The practical syllabus is in hand with the theory syllabus and provide the foundation for those who are looking for getting into industry and research field. The syllabus is cross-verified and updated yearly. There are elective courses in the syllabus and provision for one supportive paper from other departments for three semesters.University has tie-ups with several clinics and laboratories which allow for giving exposure to the students. Apart from this the workshops and conferences conducted by the departments give much exposure and updates of the corresponding field. The compulsory enrollment in SWAYAM MOOCs give students a different prospect on the industrial perspective of the disciplines. Recently a mask against nCoV19 was made in Bharathiar University. But I think there should be changes made in the way the classes are conducted as it is from morning 10:00 AM to evening 5:00 PM, giving flexibility in self-learning process. The faculties are with extra-ordinary background with much research experience. The faculties make use of their knowledge and experience to enhance student's knowledge and skills by providing variety of assignments and presentations.

Placement Experience

3.5

There is no direct placement through the institute. The student has to apply in individual to their preferred organization in order to be selected. But since departments have tie-ups with laboratories, this enable them to get into their with there skills and references by the faculties. Research passionate students can get into PhD by University Entrance test or CSIR-NET.

College Events

5

University conducts cultural and sports festivals every year, where students and faculties show their talents in front of the huge gatherings. The fests can long for more than a day and brings colour of joy to the University and the environment changes. Technical and scientific conferences conducted explore talents and innovations of students.

Fees and Financial Aid

Being in Tamil Nadu, the state government provide scholarships to the students of merit. Apart from this students can apply for Central government scholarships. The state government scholarships are directly dispensed to the students who are eligible. For this form has to be filled, attested proofs attached and submitted to University coordinator. For central government schemes, application has to be submitted online and print out handed over to University coordinator for verification

Campus Life

4.5

The campus infrastructure is at par with standard. The presence of a Physical Education give the University a well equipped indoor and outdoor sports facilities. This allow students to remain active in the sports and games and stay fit.Being a state University, free wi-fi is available across departments and hostels which students can utilize for enhancing their knowledge and entertainment. The availability of state-of-the-art library having books, journals and thesis from wide range of domains like life science, technology, computer science, mathematics, literature, social science provide what students, research scholars and faculties need.ionality come together.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel facility is available for both boys and girls. There are many hostels available for students and research scholars. Hostels come in varied conditions, some being old and some being newly built. Hostels have their own playgrounds, walk-ways, sitting benches for refreshing yourself and getting clean fresh air.Hostel rooms are given on shared-basis, usually two to three per room, depending on the room size. Rooms are well ventilated with cots, tables and chairs available, the number of which depend on the number of students being in the room. Most usually enrolled students get their seats in the hostel. There is common bathroom, toilet, water heater, reading room available for the inhabitants.

Actually I am currently in seconnd semester right now, I am not sure about the eligiblity criteria for campus placements. But I gathered some informations about the placement process with the help of students who completed their degree here recently. Most of the students having skills in demand based on the company requirements will get selected. Companies with good reputation will visit during campus placements. My aim was to getting placed in a company with good reputation and descent salary package.
