Remarks
Overall the college provides a steady flow of knowledge. Although there are not many fests it does sometimes feel like we are not enjoying our college life the fullest but all the oher stuff makes up for it.
Course Curriculum Overview
The couse curriculum is good, nothing i can complain about. As i am in the final year i can successfully say that it was also industry specific and everything was explained right from the basic structure. We were also asked to make various projects and they were research driven which made it easier to understand the concept. However, the exam structure can be better. Maharishi Dayanand University(MDU) is known for it's lousy checking of exam sheets. The checks moto is quantity or quality, that is, the number of sheets matter over the content of the answer but this is not the worst part, as college students i find it fair that they demand us to write longer answers. The problem lies in the fact that they don't care about the quality at all, any student can pass the examination of MDU if they can present the exam sheet in the right way which makes it unfair to other students. For example- this is a true event; one of my friend once wrote the same answer twice but 15-20 pages apart and she got a great score on that examination!
Placement Experience
The college takes big steps for preparing us for placements, specially the final year students by seminars, bringing in experts to tell us all about interviews and what companies want from freshers. In the month of February the following companies came to our college: 1. British telecommunications (5 selected) 2. Hinduja global solutions (15 selected) 3. Capegemini (15 selected) 4. Cognizant (pending) 5. Frontizo (pending) More companies are expected to come soon. The recruitment steps usually follow 3 similar steps, an online examination, a personal interview and skype/telephonic interview. The college faculty is extremely supportive and motivating to the students and it really was a good experience. I myself got selected in 2 of the companies.
College Events
There are cultural events like savan fest, sports day, various departmental activates, fashion shows, freshers, farewells, college trips, quizs, red cross society, and some others. The events like savan fest and sports day are huge and the whole college participates but departmental Activates are often limited to a specific departments like science or commerce and therefore are not as big but the planning and thought process behind the events are very thoughtful.
Fee Structure And Facilities
As our college is a semi government or government aided college, the fee structure is feasible. For my course i pay 24000 for the whole year(2 semesters), that is 12000 rupees for each semester. The fees structure for all the courses is pretty close to that of mine. There is no additional charges and even concession is provided to needy. A complete fee breakdown of fee is provided each year in the college bulletin. The mode of payment is all the online means from credit cards to paytm.
Fees and Financial Aid
I have not opted for any scholarship but there ae various different scholarships provided on the basis of family income, caste and etc.
Campus Life
It is an all girls college and there are various different types of sports from cricket, badminton, basketball to archery and karate. There are students of various economic status, religious beliefs, ethnicity and it preached often by the principle to maintain a healthy and respectful environment in the college. Our college also has a zero tolerance ragging policy and i haven't really faced any ragging issues anytime in the college.
Hostel Facilities
I have not opted for hostel and there is not any host facility provided by the college. Eariler there was a building dedicated to hostel but now it has been turned into the post graduate wing so there are no hostel facilities as of now.
Alumni/Alumna
The teachers often tell stories of them being in touch with the alumnis and counselling them whenever needed.
Admission
I wanted to study B.Com Honours for my graduation as i am also pursuing the professional course of company secretary and the syllabus between the two is common. Like all the other students i had planned to take admission in DU but after i scored 80% in my board examination there was no other option but to look at alternatives. So we got around and started looking colleges in Faridabad where we live, we visited a few colleges and found KL Mehta Dayanand College as the best option and i registered on the MDU website for admission. The selection in B.Com Honours was based on merit and the sears were limited(around 60). The college website posted 3-4 lists and i had my name on one of them. After being selected the next step was to visit the college and physically submit the application form which took a long time! Almost the whole day as it was one of the last days for the admission process. After submitting all the forms and paying the fees for the first semester, the admission process was completed.
Faculty
One of the best things about the college is it's teachers. Almost all the courses have 6-7 lectures of 45 minutes each without a fail. There is rarely a day where our class gets a free lecture. The teachers take the classes with a 100% attention, focus and energy. All the teachers and well read and incredibly knowledgeable. The level of knowledge they acquire is very helpful in a lot of ways. All of them hold the proper qualification of a college lecturer and most of them acquire industry experience.
