Remarks

The college is great. The infrastructure is great. The labs are well equipped. All the latest technology and instruments are available. The faculty is always ready to help and clear any doubts. The atmosphere is great to stude.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is under the guidance of DCI(Dental Council of India). It covers all the theoretical and practical knowledge to become a successful dentist. The exam structure is annual. But we do have our regular tests in the college weakly.

Placement Experience

5

My course does include an year of internship. My college provides internship in the attached hospital. The stipend is ?9000 per month. The departments are covers monthly or bimonthly depending on the patient work. Some departments like PROSTHODONTICS, ENDODO TICS, ORAL SURGERY require two months. Companies like collegeate, Sensodyne, Apollo Hospitals come for placements.

College Events

4

Various events are celebrated at my college. Starting with introductions to the freshers, a freshers’ party. Various dance performances, cultural acts are performed in the same. Following we have the Diwali function followed by a jagran(a hindu ritual of celebration). Following Diwali in the month of Nov-Dec (last week of Nov to 10 Dec) we have sports meet. Various games, both indoors and outdoors are played. Yearwise teams are made and the winners are awarded with certificates and trophies. Then we have various paths organised in the college. All the major days including Oral Cancer Day, Pathologist Day, Dentist Day are celebrated.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Feasible. The fees is regulated by the government of Punjab. The university (BFUHS), a government body, regulates the fees in the college. Depending upon your merit in the entrance exam(NEET), you get either a private or a government seat. The fees for government seat is less than that of private.

Fees and Financial Aid

No scholarships provided to general category students. Only backward classes are provided with scholarship. There are loan facilities provided by the college. You can opt for a 6 month payment option.

Campus Life

4

Various cultural activities are there in the college including the events mentioned already and other things like dance performances and music festivals. The labs are equipped with the latest technology and instruments. Various outings are also organised. There is a student council which mediated all the requirements to administration. There is no discrimination at all. We have students from all over the country and there is a healthy atmosphere inside the campus.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes I have opted for hostel and therefore google pay is very helpful. The hostel rooms are available both in personal and sharing basis. Hostel rooms are normal, not that fascinating to eyes. The food is okay. The average rent depends on whether you have opted for an air conditioned room or not. 35000 is annual charge for a hostel room.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors are very helpful. We have get our books marked, notes copied which we only get from seniors. They also help in patient work and other lab work. The alumni are very successful. They have setup their own clinics and are practising dentistry in different parts of the country.

Admission

There is entrance exam called NEET thourough which students take admissions in all the medical and dental colleges all over the country. I had appeared for the same. After the result I had applied to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences for the counselling process. Based on my preferences I got admission.

Faculty

5

All the faculty is extremely qualified. They have their master’s in respective subjects. The teachers are always ready to guide and help. We are taught both by medical and dental professionals. Different departments have various posts like the HOD, PROFESSOR, ASST. PROFESSOR, SR. LECTURER, JR. LECTURER.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I wanted to do this degree since I was in 12th class. I wanted to be a doctor either by doing BDS or MBBS. This curriculum of a degree prepares well for the real words so that we can start our own practice, but you have to be willing to learn if you do not learn in your college properly. Then you might have to learn from outside, but it prepares you well for the real life. The exams are held once at the end of every year and the difficulty level of exams is moderate to high, so you have to study very seriously if you want to pass with good marks After the theory exams, they take the practical exams and there is equal mark distribution between theory and practical, and you have to obtain 50% marks for passing

The B.D.S alone in itself is not that fruitful due to surge of dentists in India. Although, if one can set private clinic and can run it it's a wonderful career. Certain basic things are limited for MDS students although they can be tought to the BDS students too.
