Remarks
The staff of college was helpful but overall not at a high level. The education was of medium standard.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum was prescribed by the Jiwaji University and exams were also conducted by them, answer sheets were assessed by university staff and results were declared at the university website. College is basically a medium to prepare us for university exams and facilitate students' formalities to be completed in the university. Teachers used to conduct leactures and learning sessions to prepare us for the exams. The curriculum was very basic and not research based to prepare us for practical knowledge. It wasn't helpful in securing any type of placements. Industrial visits and social activities were conducted once an year or sometimes not even once.
Placement Experience
Placements were below average in quite average local companies. Internship offers were also low with only a few students being able to avail them. There weren't any national or multi-national based companies, just some local BPOs and start-up companies of Gwalior or nearby area. There were hardly 2 to 3 students every year, who took placements from the college, that too when they asked the college management for the jobs and they were casually recommended to some companies for consideration. No steps are taken to prepare students for any type of job.
College Events
Several events were celebrated annually like, corporate fest, tourism day, annual fest. They are held on a basic level and some of the students participate in it. Activities like debate, treasure hunt, dance & singing performances, skits etc. are organised in these events. On tourism day, students make groups, wear costumes of a particular state/country, arrange the native food and perform the specialty of that area. In corporate fest, students organise stalls of food, garments and other basic commodities, and try to sell them to faculty and other students.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee is not expensive but not very feasible either. The program fee (for 3 years) was approx. Rs. 1,05,000 (excluding the exam fee). The enrollment and exam fees submitted in the university was approx. Rs. 8000-10,000, which was paid by students themselves. At the time of admission Rs. 5000 advance payment was paid to the college, which was later deducted from semester fees and enrollment fee paid to the university was Rs. 300. Every semester the college asked to pay Rs. 500-600 as no dues fees. There was moderate transparency but we got receipts for every payment made.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes, the college offers 30% scholarship for the first year, on the basis of merit marks obtained in class 12th boards exams. Students with 80% above scores got 30% of the deduction from the total annual fees. Students with 70-79% marks got scholarship of 20% of the fee for the first year.
Campus Life
Campus life was average as campus area is not large. There were 70% boys and 30% girls and students from diverse background and religion. The workshops held were limited and brief, introduction workshop was held for new admissions, so that they can interact with seniors and faculties. There were different political interests and candidates who participated in student elections of the ABVP. Farewell is being given to final year students by their juniors and annual function is celebrated once in one or two years. There is computer lab for students with computer related subjects. Debates and extempore competitions were also held during fests. Male and female students befriended each other and equally respected each other. There was healthy competition and unity without any discrimination.
Hostel Facilities
No, there was no hostel facility available by the college.Maximum students are of the local area, living with their families. Some students were of nearby small towns, who travelled daily by bus or train, from their town to the city.
Alumni/Alumna
They helped juniors by giving tips regarding exams and were friendly with their juniors. My interaction was limited with the seniors with just normal talk. Our seniors used to submit question papers of university exams, in the college library, for our help.
Admission
The admission process was very simple and direct, scholarship was given on the basis of merit. In the first visit, they brief about the college structure and ask to fill enquiry form. Later, at the time of admission, registration form is filled online to register us with Jiwaji University. I chose B.Com. because I want to go for banking sector and computer application specialization is a good option. The institute is good and co operative, as they helped us to score good in the external exams conducted by Jiwaji University. It is situated within the city residential area, which is convenient and quick to visit. When the admission was approved, a form was asked to fill up asking for our details along with 5 passport size photos. An advance fee of Rs. 5000 was submitted at the time of admission.
Faculty
Faculty was good, co-operative, helpful, experienced and well qualified holding post graduation or Ph.D. degrees, in the respective subjects they teach. There were 6 subjects within a semester, in our course and each subject had a seperate leacturer, their average age was between 40 to 50 years. Most of them have good knowledge about their respective subjects and can explain facts and details easily to the students. We didn't have much idea about their past experiences, just that they were leactures since many years.
