Remarks
Its a pretty mundane experience. Its too hyped. Considered the 11 best in the country. That seems pretty impossible to me as a student who attends here. They work hard on holding the pillars too much that they forget the concrete is cracking.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is structured well but the lectures get out easy, they only cover important bits which are the only things which come for the exam. External material is not suggested nor encouraged. The topics in the curriculum are vast and usually require a lot of research which is skipped usually because, if in class, you can pass the exam with a good score. Its focused more on getting a degree than imparting knowledge.
Placement Experience
The college provided for an opportunity to intern but it never really happened. The job opportunities come as campus placements but a tiny % of people get placed given we're really not up to the mark. A lot of big companies come with huge openings but leave with a handful and disappointment. Deloitte, State Street, jp Morgan, Amazon, ADP, VCC, regalix, decathlon, iks, lexicon, IBM, chola.
College Events
Each department has their own fest. And we have 23 departments. We have college day, Christmas celebrations, teacher's day annually. For the department fest, not a lot of crowd from outside the college show up because we're pretty strict with rules.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The least expensive course, Bachelor's in arts literature, psychology and journalism is 60000 per yearand the most expensive is bachelors in commerce international accounting and finance which is 90000 per year.
Campus Life
My college is famous for its involvement in sports, the x number of fields they have. They're not entirely culturally acceptable. I would say the management is pretty conservative on that part, given the principal does allow or encourage the opposite genders to involve in a conversation, not everyone follows it as it's not a rule but we're discouraged to hug or sit next to a opposite gender. They're homphobic and don't encourage students to join rallies for political reasons. We're not allowed to make political statements in a classroom decor.
Alumni/Alumna
They've only told us we'd regret it here. And we did. Although the college has a pretty big name outside, the jobs they got after studying the nicest course were basic. Minimum wage jobs, entry level.
Admission
There was an entrance test, eliminating the basic, after which there was a merit list followed by an interview by the principal, head of the department and a fellow lecturer. After the list is out, the ones who pay the fee the quickest acquire the seat.
Faculty
The faculty is qualified but they're definitely not interested in teaching or learning new topics and subjects themselves. The motivation comes from how to get the students to pass then what have we learnt today that was not a topic we've touched before. Discussions are not encouraged as it 'wastes time'.
