Remarks

The management has always been powerful but friendly firm but kind this has ensured that every student was given apt freedom with a limit that they understood well and limited themselves to.

Entrance Preview

I took up the Bachelor of Arts program for which admissions were based on the performance in the 12th board examinations i was looking for a college that offered me a combination of English Language and Journalism only ethiraj college for women offered such a program in chennai, and was hence, my choice of college for my undergraduate studies.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is well spread out for a subject such as english language and literature, the course module begins with the earliest stages where a complete semester spanning six months is dedicated towards helping students understand the history of the language which strengthens the foundation we read books authored by our own lecturers, which was an advantage as they wrote in simple language that any layman could understand. We were eased into the subject.

Internships Opportunities

The college did not provide internship during my days but encouraged students to intern during the summers.

Placement Experience

3.5

Over 70% students are placed through campus placements with lucrative packages. companies in the league of leading airlines biotechnology firms corporates of the C Suite such as Infosys tata consultancy services and wipro attend the campus placements.

College Events

4.5

Every department has it's own festival that involves students from all departments for at least one activity besides we were encouraged to invite students from the same faculty in other colleges to encourage social bonding the inter-collegiate festival was a three-day affair that had over 50 colleges in the city participating.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is designed for the middle class and is very affordable besides, the college offers several perks for students from the lower economic strata and from other backward communities, which often brings their fees to less than a 100 rupees a month during my days of studies, with no concessions I paid Rs 24,000 in all, which is Rs. 4,000 per semester this included tuition fees and other fees.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college being an autonomous institution could regulate its fee structure to accommodate students from the lower economic strata with ease this meant that some students barely paid a fees and received the same level of education that the rest of the students did student loans were also provided for by the college in collaboration with Indian Bank, besides other banks.

Campus Life

3.5

Ethiraj college for women encourages overall development of its students every department is expected to organize at least two seminars and a host of events every semester for its students to participate in students are actively encouraged to participate in inter-collegiate events too despite being a women's college, the management encouraged organizers to invite men's college students too for inter-collegiate festivals and ensured utmost safety measures were in place to protect any female student within its campus all students were encouraged to participate in the the Guides and NCC activities, and were encouraged to learn martial arts within the campus for self protection in the world.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The mess food was of an average standard but I understand it has improved over the years the hostel warden was a very strict woman who ensured everyone adhered to the timelines and neatness that was expected this ensured students were safe at all hours.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is over 10,000 strong and they visit often to share their experiences within college and outside many alumni often return to join in the campus placements and recruit students for their companies.

Exam Structure

The exams were half yearly, ending a semester this meant that the subjects studied in that semester spanning 5-6 months were completed and did not require revisiting except for reference purposes we had three class tests spread over prior to the examinati

Faculty

The department of English not only offers good education but also so many values to lead our life. Faculties were so friendly in clearing students' doubts. There was personality development course to improve students' personality. Students had to choose any other subjects other than they are studying for sbi course. Due to this students learn about other subjects too.

They also conduct orientation program for attending interviews traings and other personality enrichment activities for our benefits like conducting pre - placement training, including resume building workshops, mock interviews, and skill development programs for preparing as precautionary to avoid rejections in interviews. Average Students participate in the placement process by securing offers, depending on the batch. Over the past few years, our college has an increasing number of offers made, I thank our college for growing reputation and industry ties. The Average salary package ranges from rupees 3-5 lac per annum with most students being placed in roles such as Travel Consultants, Tourism Managers and Event Planners. My Future Plans: If I don't secure a placement through campus recruitment, I Plan to focus on building my career through internships and freelancing. I am particularly interested in sustainable tourism and may look for opportunities in eco-tourism companies and tourism boards. Additionally, I'm considering pursuing further studies, such as a Master's in Tourism Management or certifications in Digital Marketing for the Travel industry, to enhance my skill set and broaden my career prospects. The strong foundation from my Sindhi College will provide me with the flexibility to pursue various career paths, whether in corporate roles or starting my own venture in Tourism sector. Otherwise will choose and excel in my Law Career which will support to develop

Madras School of Economics - [MSE], Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Economics)
Reviewed on Sep 17, 2024(Enrolled 2024)

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well the course provides almost everything which is needed and available. This is not a normal economics course as it involves statistics, python, core math and also dives into data science. This allows the students to explore various subjects and can choose which is their best fileld. The curriculum overall is very rigorous and intense but you can crack it if you study regularly. About the frequencies of the examinations, we have 2 internal examinations and 1 end semester examination. I can guarantee that this course is super rigorous but im not sure if i would necessarily say that the course is "practical" and it helps us in the real word. I cannot comment on the practicality of the courses. The exams are not super difficult and its moderate. Getting more than 90% can be challenging although clearing the paper won't be an impossible task.
