There were no entrance tests, admissions were purely merit based. I took the course after my 12th science because I had a plan to get into IT and BCA at Xavier's was better than a BE other colleges in the area, also the fact that you graduate in 3 years.

Xavier Institute of Computer Applications is currently affiliated to Gujarat University as of now, and the course structure is provided by Gujarat University. There have been issues with exam dates and curriculum in the past, and the college also had its issues with University, so it is soon set to be Autonomous, just like it's sister institution. Gujarat University curriculum is detailed and focused more on theory rather than its applications. There is not much emphasized on Research, as it's a Bachelor's course.

Some of mass recruiting companies do visit the campus but very few are selected for an internship. Most of the interns in the college apply off-campus and get selected.

As mentioned earlier, mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro and CMC do visit the campus and hire eligible candidates. During our time, Wipro visited and 22 were selected for WisTA, which is an earn-while-you-learn program and fetches you an M.Tech degree from VIT Vellore along with stipend while working as a trainee, with increasing stipend every year, for four years, where the programs ends and the candidate in taken in as a full time employee for a good role.

Fees was Rs. 9100/- including admission and forms, per semester. It is very feasible but compared to other colleges, it might sound more, but considering the infrastructure, faculty and management, it's completely worth it. Yes and final semester form filling is excluded, which was chargeable at around Rs. 500-600.

There's always minority scholarships, given by the government and the college does offer scholarships but not to meritorious but people from tribal and rural background. Minority scholarships offered 50% refund of the college fee, which was availed by some of my friends. There are also tie-ups with banks for loans, but the availability and schemes are unknown.

The gender ratio is pretty good. Since it is a commerce college and offers a 3-year degree, the number of girls is very good. Campus life is the best as compared to any other college in Gujarat, at least. Xavier's is known for it's crowd and it's campus life, so it ticks pretty much all the boxes in this section. Extracurriculars are also a very active field and the college aces most of the other colleges as far as sports and competitions are concerned. Technical and special interest activities haven't caught up yet.

The hostel is very economical but was in a bad condition. The hostel was being renovated when I was leaving. The rooms are on triple sharing basis with a bed, a cupboard, a table and a chair each. The bathroom does have a heater. The hostel accommodation

There was this day when we saw a group of 70's something people distributing cupcakes and wafers among the students and clicking pictures. When we asked them, they were the class of 1965, celebrating 50 years of their reunion. That pretty much sums it up. The alumni network is strong and faithful to the institution and the seniors are very welcoming as well.
