Pallabi Patir's Review On Gogamukh College, Dhemaji

I completed my B.A. History for Gogamukh College recently. The college has a number of scholarships and also has pretty good facilities in terms of the fees offered for the course. The College authority also offers Remedial Course to academically disadvantageous and belonging to backward communities as scheduled caste and scheduled tribe, to help them to cope with academic requirements. Overall, the college is pretty good, either in terms of infrastructure, location, education offered or facilities.

The college is affiliated to Dibrugarh University, and strictly follows all the guidelines and its prescribed syllabus. In starting semesters, electives, additional and core subjects were equally numbered, and almost had the same weight of semester marks, as the final semester came, core subjects had the highest weight and additional subjects were replaced by practicals, to assess our practical knowledge.

The placement of the college is just fine and needs more attention. The College even has a Career Guidance & Counseling cell to assist, guide and help students learn and grow individually or as a group in their career, academics, personal and financial decision-making.

The fee for this college is quite feasible. For the first year, my fee for B.A. History was just Rs. 2600. This is so that students from the lower section of society can also find education to be affordable for them.

The college entertains a number of scholarships like - 1. Central National Scholarship, on all India basis 2. State Merit Scholarship, on all Assam basis 3. For Scheduled tribes/Scheduled caste 4. For Physically handicapped/As per Govt. rules. 5. Students' Aid Fund By submitting an application to the Principal, financial assistance will also be provided to the poor and meritorious students for purchasing books and other materials needed.

The college also has a hostel for both boys and girls separately available on their merit basis. The infrastructure of the hostel is quite fine and also the location is good, but the hygiene of the hostel needs a little improvement further.

I got admission into Gogamukh College based on my 12th percentage. The eligibility criteria of the college are quite low, making admission into this college to be quite easy, as all you should have is pass 12th with a passing percentage to be eligible for enrolling in this college. When I visited the college, I was asked for my 12th marksheet, for verification. After that I enrolled for B.A. History in the college, I was also asked to submit a small portion of the fee as a formality.

The faculty of the college is quite supportive, well qualified and had decent knowledge in their respective subjects. The faculty also constantly tries to invoke the curiosity of the students in respective subjects, by introducing new teaching methodologies in their teaching style.
