Remarks

I have done my B.Sc mathematics from Government Arts College, Salem. I loved this college. The faculty there deserves appreciation for prioritizing students and their career rather than syllabus. The college also has a quite good alumni network, which does come handy at times of need. We spent hours in the library and labs during our education here, they both are pretty good too

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The Course curriculum is quite good, in starting semesters there are 2 core subjects, 2 languages, 1 practical and 2 additional. In final year the core subjects and practicals hold the weight-age of marks. The course is strictly followed, which is provided by Periyar University, as it is affiliated by it and have to follow its guidelines and rules strictly

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee for B.Sc Mathematics was Rs.1400, which is quite feasible according to me, the fee is this feasible so anyone with curiosity and the will to study could study at minimum costs. So, education is available to most.

Fees and Financial Aid

Different Scholarships are available for meritorious and for students from weaker section of society. The college puts a letter on notice board, if forms for such scholarships are out. Apart that you can also fill state or other type of scholarships after consulting the faculty

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel has a decent infrastructure and lies in the north side of college adjacent to play ground. The rooms of hostel are well furnished and the bathrooms, toilets are tiled. There is also a dining hall in the hostel. The rooms are quite spacious and comfortable to live for whole education period. Water is available for 24 hours, no time bound is there. The hostel overall has almost 32 rooms.

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumni network of the college is somewhat good but average, and they are helpful too. They always try to help when their juniors or teachers ask for a favor if its something under their control. Different Alumni do visit our campus regularly, invited by teachers to help their friends develop ties with alumni.

Admission

Regarding admission, it is purely merit-based. Once application forms are out, you are supposed to fill them and submit in the college and wait for the merit list to be declared. if your name is in the merit list, you'll be contacted soon to carry on your admission process further with the college. Additionally, the age limit is capped to 21 years, where females & SC/ST/BC/MBC/DNC are given a relaxation of 3 years and differently-abled are given a relaxation of 5 years.

Faculty

4

The faculty of Government Arts College is quite experienced, knowledgeable and have outstanding knowledge of their subjects which comes handy in getting our doubts clarified with ease. The faculty also promotes students for cultural and extracurricular activities. The faculty is also very helpful in other aspects like advising for career development and personal improvement.

They connected more than 100 companies like wipro, Infosys, etc. Tje highest package would be 3LPA and lowest would be 1LPA. More than 60 %of students get placed in diff companies. Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this college because of its NIRF Ranking, but trust me it's not worth it. The college infrastructure is very old. They don't provide proper classrooms and tutors are not very good. Some are good some aren't. Internal exams are easy and are conducted in the same classroom but sem end is conducted properly.
