I did a PG Diploma in journalism from the IIMC, Dhankanal. The college has shaped my career and made me an accomplished figure in the field of Journalism. It is as good as its reputation. I would definitely recommend the IIMC college, especially for academics and corporate exposure. I had a pretty awesome time while I was there.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure is delicately curated to define opportunities for journalists/ communicators in view of emerging technologies. The session is divided into a semester system. They don’t offer the core mass comm courses here in Dhenkanal.
Placement Experience
The placement is very ordinary in the IIMC or maybe it was the case with this branch, I don’t know. I got an internship and through which I received a Pre Placement Offer even before my course was over.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Course fee for the entire Journalism course was around 80k, which is a bit much for a centre funded institute. The institute provides facilities like a fully digital auditorium, studios, labs, library, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
The scholarship is also available in our college. It is also awarded on the academic background of the student.
Campus Life
The campus life is pretty good. The memories of the institute still make me nostalgic. The life at the college was pretty awesome, where we were at our prime of learning and exploring. I made many friends on campus and at the cultural shows which were usually organised during the annual day celebration or other festive celebrations.
Hostel Facilities
Yes, the hostel facility is also provided by our college. There are three hostels in our institute. The hostel accommodation is affordable and hygiene friendly.
Admission
I applied online on the official website. The college conducts an entrance exam in order to allocate seats for its PG program. The entrance exam was a pretty basic one. After that, I was interviewed by the faculty. Post which I was granted admission.
