Studied at IISc Bangalore

KVPY (SA, SX and SB) is the easiest mode of securing admission into IISc Bangalore for UG studies. It is possible to get a seat even with an ordinary rank in the exam. But it is mandatory to register for the admissions beginning February. The other modes are JEE Mains, JEE Advanced and NEET. However, the cutoff ranks for these exams are high. With time, the cutoff ranks for KVPY are also getting higher.

IISc Bangalore takes admission through KVPY, IIT JEE Mains, and JEE Advance. IIT JEE Main and JEE Advance cutoff are usually too high. Comparably KVPY is an easy way to get admission. KVPY exam has three streams, i.e. SA, SX, and SB. You need to apply for SA while you are in 11th. SX is for students in 12th standard. Students in their UG first year of Basic Science need to apply for SB. Note that the number of seats available for SB stream is limited.

Students who have completed their II PUC/ 12th standard in 2019 or expect to complete their II PUC/ 12th standard are eligible to apply for admission in IISc Bangalore. The students are also required to secure a first-class or 60% or equivalent grade in their II PUC/ 12th standard examination.

The selection for admission after class 12th at IISc Bangalore is made on the basis of the merit list of one of the following examinations.

KVPY:

  • KVPY-SA (Appeared in 2018 and selected for fellowship)
  • KVPY-SB (Appeared in 2019 and selected for fellowship)
