How good is North Eastern Hill University (NEHU)?
North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) has a very peaceful environment and extremely friendly people. This institute can be good but it does not meet the expectations in terms of providing quality education.
If you don’t want to struggle in your work-life, it will be wise not to choose NEHU. One of my friends is a faculty there and she is not happy with the academic environment and work culture at the institute.
Besides all the bad reviews there are a few departments that are decent.
- School of Technology is a new addition to NEHU. It still has a lot to improve. It lacks the competitive environment and a Techfest of its own that a good technical institute should have. However, currently, it is better than various other private colleges in India. Besides, this department is bestowed with a handful of skilled faculty.
- According to various student reviews, the Department of Botany and Zoology are good; and the Department of Physics, Mathematics, Economics, and Chemistry are average.
Lastly, it has a diverse nature of students and comes with an extremely beautiful campus.
How is Assam University Silchar for a BTech as compared to AEC and NEHU?
Among these three the best college will be AEC (Assam Engineering College) and here are some reasons to justify it.
- AEC is completely an engineering college, but the other two are schools for engineering under their respective universities. AEC gets its funds from the state government and it is given solely for the purpose in the engineering field, but the other two institutes receive their funds from the central government and it gets divided among all the departments available in the university.
- AEC is now a pioneer in the field of engineering as it has completed more than 60 years of its existence but the other two universities are very new in the field of engineering. It has also built a very strong alumni network within these 60 years of offering engineering courses.
- As it is located in Guwahati, it has many advantages over NEHU and especially Assam University. It is located in Silchar and there are many connectivities and traveling problems due to which many companies don't visit the campus during placements. In 2020, placement drive it offered salary packages upto 10 LPA.
- In AEC, the lab facilities available are very good and are much better in comparison to NEHU and Assam University.
- In these 60 years of existence, AEC has established a very good reputation all over the country with its excellent academics and placements and most of the top scorers prefer to choose AEC over the other two to pursue their engineering.
Hence, if you're interested in pursuing engineering, then choosing AEC will be a very good option as this college has a very good reputation and experience in this field and offers very good facilities and placements to its students.
What are the benefits of studying at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU)?
The environment at NEHU is unique. It is a sort of mix of both Indian English Medium of education, American style,and a slice of mainland Indians, the most important touch of British back then. Here is a brief highlight of the institute.
- It is the oldest Central University in North East India.
- One of the few 'A' grade universities in the region.
- Consists of many departments of different fields including Arts, Science & Commerce.
- Faculties are good & experienced.
- The campus is very big and beautiful as it is located in Meghalaya.
Here, learning in such an environment is really amazing. It is just not about academics but learning in nature makes you more focused.
Does NEHU provide B.A in mass communication?
North-Eastern Hill University doesn’t provide BA in Mass Communication. The department of Journalism and Mass Communication of NEHU offers a Masters's in Jurnalism and Mass Communication only. You need to have a bachelor's degree of three years or more in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate to apply for this course.
How are the placements at NEHU?
campus placements are okay, it is improving over time... averagely people get placed at 7-8 lpa and some people get placed at 12lpa. Many students go for off campus placements and there they perform very well. students have secured 22- 28lpa off campus.
How is the faculty at NEHU?
Faculty to student ratio is really very good. Teachers are very approachable. Helpful. In a semester there will be two class tests and then the end semester exam. its easy to pass if you are attentive in the class.
How is the campus life at NEHU?
Campus life is very happening. The campus is good, the people here are great. You will make many freinds and freinds from almost all around the india. There is a central Library here. it hass all the book you ask for. There is an indoor statium to play badminton and table tennis, a KV ground for Cricket. Two football grounds there is even a statium. Many clubs.
How are the hostels at NEHU?
i got a tripple sharing room. Its not bad. its big, spacious for three people, you will get three beds, three tables and chairs, three Cupboards. A personal Balcony. The Mess food can be a problem, Initially you will get served with good fod but eventualy you will start eating just for the survival.
