I have friends both in SGGS and VIT Pune so I can give you a detailed comparative analysis of both institutes based on some common aspects

  • Institutes: SGGSIE&T is a government-autonomous institute whereas VIT is a private autonomous college. So there is a huge difference in terms of fee structure and hostel facilities.
  • Campus: VIT is much smaller in comparison to SGGS. The former spreads over 17.625 acres while the latter is around 46 acres. SGGS also has a huge playground.
  • City Life: Situated on the outskirts of Nanded city, SGGS does not offer much exposure and lifestyle. Whereas in Pune, you can enjoy a vibrant city life with many places to hang out. However, the cost of living is more than in Nanded.
  • Establishment - VIT was established in 1983 while SGGS was established in 1981.
  • Faculty - VIT faculty is more well-versed than that of SGGS. Its academic ambiance is much better than SGGS.
  • Departments: SGGS has 10 departments while VIT has around 15.
  • Placements: The placement scenario is much better at VIT Pune than at SGGS. Located in Pune, it is visited by many more and better companies.

Although SGGS is better in most aspects, VIT Pune steals the limelight because of its amazing placement scenario. So choose wisely!

VIT Pune is a much better choice than SGGS. I have a friend in SGGS who shared its pros and cons that might help you make a better decision.

Pros

  • It is an autonomous college so enjoys freedom in everything.
  • Drishti's official magazine is a great portal.
  • It has a very supportive Innovation Cell.
  • The robotics club has earned a great rank in robocon.
  • VIT Pune has some very talented coders, web developers, and database engineers.

Cons

  • It charges hefty fees for facilities like bus, wifi, and Boat Club.
  • Underqualified and inexperienced faculty.
  • The campus life is being and the fests conducted are held at a very poor level.

I will suggest you join VIT Pune as it seems to offer better opportunities and exposure than SGGS.

What are the worst things about SGGSIE T Nanded?

P
PixelPartridge Posted On : February 27th, 2026

One of the worst things about SGGSIE&T Nanded for Mechanical Engineering is definitely the faculty inconsistency. I started my course with just two teachers available, and it felt like they didn’t understand our needs or how to effectively teach us. Thankfully, they hired new faculty in my second year, and they were much better, but that initial experience was quite frustrating. The exams are manageable, but the teaching quality was a real concern at first.

Honestly, I think SGGS Nanded has a lot going for it compared to Pune. The Mechanical Engineering curriculum is pretty solid, and I’ve found the faculty to be quite supportive. The placement records are impressive too, with companies like TCS and Accenture visiting regularly. Plus, the fees are reasonable for what we get, which is a definite advantage. Overall, if you are looking for a good balance of academic and placement opportunities, I would recommend SGGS Nanded.

I would say that the best branch in SGGS Nanded is Information Technology. I picked this branch because of the immense career opportunities in the IT sector. The faculty is well-qualified, and they’re quite approachable. The curriculum includes many current technologies, which helps us stay updated. The placement rate is also good, with many companies visiting the campus, and I heard that the average package is around 4-5 LPA. Overall, it feels like a solid choice for anyone looking to enter the tech field.

My best experience at SGGSIE&T, Nanded, was definitely during the annual cultural fest, Utsav. It was such a vibrant event where students from different branches came together to showcase their talents, whether it was singing, dancing, or drama. The atmosphere was electric, and it allowed me to bond with my classmates outside the classroom.

I also enjoyed participating in the various competitions held during the fest, which made me feel more connected to the college community. Overall, it was a unique experience that I'll cherish forever.

Why is there so much restriction in SGGS Nanded College?

L
LostLionfish Posted On : February 25th, 2026

The restrictions at SGGS Nanded College are quite noticeable, especially in terms of social life. For example, while we have great academic support and events like Utsav and Pragya, the limitations on mixed-gender interactions create a rather conservative atmosphere.

This has made it tough for many of us to connect freely outside of academic settings. As a Computer Science student, I feel that fostering friendships is important for a holistic college experience, and the restrictions can make it feel a bit stifling at times.

I'm excited for you to join SGGS Nanded for Mechanical Engineering! The faculty here is pretty good; most of them are PhD holders and always ready to help with any questions. You should definitely get involved in the practical sessions and projects during your course.

As for placements, the campus sees a good number of companies like TCS and Accenture coming in, with the highest package last year being around 52 LPA. I'm currently waiting for my placement offer, and I feel confident about it. Just focus on your studies and keep an eye on the internship opportunities that come your way!

Which college is better government Aurangabad or SGGS Nanded?

F
FolderFlounder Posted On : February 24th, 2026

There isn't a clear winner between Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad, and SGGS Nanded. Both schools have their own pros and cons, so which one is better really depends on what you are looking for.

Let's dive a bit deeper. The Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad, often has a higher cut-off score, but that doesn't automatically make it the superior choice. Similarly, this doesn't mean SGGS Nanded is not as good.

Your time in college will play a vital role in shaping who you are, both personally and professionally. Contrary to popular belief, it's not just about your grades or the salary package you might land after graduation. A saying I remember from my college days is that the true value of college education is not just cramming facts but learning to think critically.

College should prepare you for future challenges, both in your career and life. It should push you to grow in various areas, not just academics, but also teamwork, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

Now, looking at your options:

GECA Aurangabad:

  • It’s true that GECA usually has a higher cut-off, which means you’ll be surrounded by high achievers. However, if the focus is only on academics, other important skills might not develop. GECA offers a good academic environment and has many qualified professors.
  • Attendance at GECA is not strictly enforced, which can give you the freedom to explore other interests, be they academic or extracurricular. This is different from other colleges where you might need to maintain 75% or even 90% attendance, limiting your time for other activities.
  • GECA has strong recruitment, especially in fields like CSE, IT, and ENTC, where over 90% of students get campus placements. The college also hosts a lot of technical events, with their annual tech festival, GECA Wings, being quite a highlight. They support participation in competitions like SAE Supra, Baja, Robocon, and Codechef too.
  • Culturally, GECA is improving as well. Their three-day festival, GECA Antarang, is a big event with well-known personalities attending. They’ve also done well in the Firodiya Karandak competition.

SGGS Nanded:

  • Even though SGGS might not have as high a cut-off as GECA, it still ranks well. It attracts a mix of students who are focused on both academics and extracurriculars, offering a balanced atmosphere.
  • However, SGGS has a strict attendance policy. Missing classes can lead to serious consequences, which might leave less time for other activities.
  • Recruitment at SGGS has been improving, especially in recent years. While it might not be as extensive as GECA's, it's still quite good.
  • SGGS hosts great tech festivals like Pragya and encourages participation in tech competitions. I’d love to hear from others who’ve attended SGGS about their cultural events as well.

In summary, GECA offers more flexibility with attendance and how you spend your time, while SGGS is more structured. This freedom can be a blessing for some and a distraction for others.

In the end, try to connect with alumni from both colleges to see which environment suits you best. Good luck on your college journey!
