Jadavpur University is the top choice for B.Pharm in West Bengal. It's a government institute. To get into their Pharmaceutical department, you need to qualify for WBJEE (Physics, Chemistry, and Maths). Admission to JU is based on your engineering rank. For unreserved category students, a rank around 2k should get you in.

For other colleges, the Pharmacy rank is considered (this rank is based on your Physics and Chemistry marks only). Besides JU, Guru Nanak Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology is a solid option with good placement records and decent faculty. The course curriculum is well-covered. However, it's a private college, and the fees per semester are around 70k. If money isn't a concern, you can definitely enroll here.

If your rank is good but finances are tight, the college also reserves a few seats (4–5) for TFW Candidates, where the semester fee is around 10k. Educational loans are always an option if you're keen on pursuing B.Pharm.

:-) Best wishes!

Adamas University Kolkata offers a vibrant campus life with regular festivals and advanced technological classrooms, making it an exciting place to study B.Pharm. Their placement rate is decent, with over 80% of students getting placed, which is a good sign. In contrast, JIS University has a strong reputation for 100% placement in their School of Medical Sciences, which is impressive. While both colleges have solid curricula, JIS seems to provide a more comprehensive support system in terms of placements and scholarships, with fees slightly lower. Personally, I would lean towards JIS University for its exceptional placement record and overall student experience, especially if job security is a priority for you.

Adamas University Kolkata has a B.Pharm program with a fee structure of around 9 lakh, but it offers a solid placement rate of over 80% and multiple scholarship options, making it a decent return on investment. In contrast, JIS University offers a slightly lower fee of approximately 6.8 lakh and claims 100% placement, but lacks detailed information on the internship opportunities and overall campus life. While JIS might seem cheaper with high placement claims, Adamas provides better internship opportunities and a more vibrant campus experience. For someone focusing on a rich college life and internship prospects, Adamas would be the smarter financial choice, but if lower fees and a strong placement rate are a priority, JIS could work well too.

It's awesome that you're looking to build a career in pharmacy! Having recently completed my B.Pharm, I can share a list of colleges that you might want to consider:

  • IQ City Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Durgapur (This is where I graduated from, and I believe it's one of the most underrated and best institutions in terms of faculty and study programs.)
  • Jadavpur University (One of the most reputed institutions offering B.Pharm, which was a pleasant surprise.)
  • Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (Offers UG, PG, and Advanced Masters courses in Medicine & Health Sciences and Nursing.)
  • National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Kolkata (NIRF ranks #24 under the category 'Pharmacy.')
  • Guru Nanak Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (Ranked 87th by NIRF 2023 under the Pharmacy category.)
  • Techno India University Kolkata (Not the best in terms of faculty, but has great academic programs.)
  • Sister Nivedita University (Specializes in engineering but also offers pharmaceutical courses.)
  • NSHM Institute of Health Sciences Kolkata (Offers multiple courses such as B.Pharma and M.Pharma.)
  • JIS University, Kolkata (Not as well-known, but still worth considering.)

Adamas University Kolkata seems to have a stronger edge when it comes to placements and internship opportunities in B.Pharm. They boast over 80% placement rates, with various companies actively recruiting from there, plus they offer multiple projects and roles that can enhance your resume. In comparison, JIS University has a solid placement record with 100% in some departments, but the overall feedback suggests fewer opportunities in terms of internships and real-world experience. If you’re looking for a college that provides dynamic internship experiences and better job prospects post-graduation, Adamas University would be the way to go; however, if you're set on a specific specialization that JIS excels in, it could still be worth considering.
