Studying MBBS at AIIMS Delhi has been an incredible journey for me. The curriculum is super focused on saving lives, which really motivates me to give my best. By the second year, we’re already learning about diagnosing diseases and their management, making us feel pretty prepared for the real world.

The college hours can be exhausting, though; I’m currently putting in around 8 hours a day. The exams are held every 2.5 months, and the papers are quite challenging, derived from the best foreign authors. But honestly, I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything!

Oh my goodness!!! Apologies for the delay! It took me a while to retrieve my Quora password….???????? (Just kidding!) It feels great to be back on this platform, which was my home two years ago during my NEET Exam and results. Let me share my emotions while focusing mainly on my first-year MBBS journey because, after all, it's the foundation for any medical student.

One word to describe it? ‘A ROLLERCOASTER RIDE’! It truly has its ups and downs. I’ll try to keep this answer concise, as there’s so much to share that I wouldn’t want to bore you, and the emotions attached are hard to put into words.

So, let’s kick off this ride with an exciting start called CREST. (An orientation program held at AIIMS Delhi every year.)

  • A thrilling beginning to this journey that included fun activities with fellow students, helping us bond with each other.
  • We even had to create a final skit in groups to perform in front of the Director of AIIMS New Delhi.

After spending nearly two years buried in books and studies, students finally emerged from their nests. CREST happened, and I remember roaming around various places in Delhi with friends, having a blast!

You asked two separate questions. The value of an MBBS course at any college depends on your goals and aspirations. As for AIIMS Delhi, it's a great place to pursue your MBBS!

The second question is a bit tricky because very few people can give you a definitive answer (not including me), since most have only experienced either AIIMS or other state colleges. Almost everyone I've met loves their college (not necessarily the course), and that's perfectly fine—everyone should feel that way!

There isn't as much hierarchy among colleges as some portray. Most have similar features (though those may not matter much). There's often a competition to elevate one's college. In my opinion, my college is the best (because that’s the only experience I have), and it can also be the worst (I know many flaws that only people here experience). But many are right when they say, "Mine is the best!"—because it is!

There's a concept called “College ki image achi honi chahiye.” This idea is as real as it is flawed. This satisfaction can sometimes hinder improvement. Recognizing that your culture has issues at various levels is essential for growth.

In the words of an AIIMSOnian: 25 years of AIIMS... Million moments of happiness.

I still remember the day I stepped onto the campus I had been dreaming about for two years. It felt like paradise to my eyes, weary from the hard work of those two years. The tears in my eyes said it all: 'Man! IT WAS WORTH IT.' Everything I sacrificed—the fun, the food—was worth it. The overwhelming sense of achieving my biggest dream, my sole aim, was unfolding right before my eyes. The gratitude for being accepted among the elite is so profound that it's hard to express in words. But I’ll give it a shot.

And then, the 'high on life' experience at AIIMS began. Mind you, it’s nothing like what you’d expect from a place filled with the most studious people. It’s a completely different world where people live life to the fullest. You won’t find another place like AIIMS; even if you do, it would be impossible to find such a vibrant crowd. I can’t speak for other colleges, but the first year at AIIMS is the best time you’ll ever have in your life. On your very first day, you’ll feel it.

I’m in my second year of MBBS at AIIMS Delhi, and I can say the reputation of this college is well-deserved. The faculty is simply outstanding; the ratio of students to faculty is around 8 to 1 in smaller groups, meaning we get a lot of personal attention. They have years of experience and share invaluable knowledge, especially in clinical areas. Also, the fees are ridiculously low—just ?5,856 for five years, which includes everything! It’s hard to complain about anything when you’re getting such a high-quality education for so little.
