Sure! Here’s the rephrased answer:

Absolutely! We have a total of 9 semesters in the MBBS program at AIIMS Delhi. Here’s the breakdown:

  • 1st and 2nd semester in the 1st year
  • 3rd, 4th, and 5th semester in the 2nd year
  • 6th and 7th semester in the 3rd year
  • 8th and 9th semester in the 4th year

University exams are held in the 2nd semester, 5th semester, 7th semester, and 9th semester. Overall, there are 13 exams throughout the 5.5 years of the MBBS course. Just before the university exams, we also have our PUCs (pre-university exams).

So, 9 semesters + 4 PUCs = 13 exams in total. Hope this clarifies everything!

  • 3rd, 4th, and 5th semester ? Second year MBBS
  • 6th and 7th semester ? Third year MBBS
  • 8th and 9th semester ? Final year (Third II MBBS)

Now, regarding internal exams:

  • In the first year, there are periodic Part completion tests (2 each semester, totaling 4).
  • Term end exams, which are one of the major internal assessments.
  • Prelims, which are the MOST MAJOR INTERNAL EXAMS before the professional university exams. They carry the HIGHEST WEIGHTAGE in terms of internal marks.

Lastly, for university exams, there will obviously be 4 years' worth...

I can provide details for AIIMS Delhi.

You have Three Profs instead of Four like in most other medical colleges.

1. First Professional:

  • Duration: 1 year
  • Subjects: Physiology, Anatomy, and Biochemistry
  • Assessment:
    • Internal assessment carries 50% weightage
    • 2 mid-semester exams in October and March
    • One end-semester exam in December
    • First professional exam in July (remaining 50%)
  • Note: No sent-ups like in other colleges. Internal assessment in other colleges is 10%, sent-ups 20%, and professionals 80%.

2. Second Professional:

  • Duration: 1.5 years
  • Subjects: Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, and Forensic Medicine
  • Assessment:
    • Two mid-semester exams in October of the 3rd Sem and March of the 4th Sem
    • End-semester exams in December and May
    • Pre-Proffs in November and professional exams in December
  • From the 3rd Semester, clinical postings begin in various departments such as Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Obs Gynae, CCM, Psychiatry, etc.

3. Third Professional:

  • This is considered the honeymoon period.
  • In the 6th semester, you have clinical postings and lectures.
  • In the 7th Sem, there are no lectures, just clinical postings from 9 AM to 1 PM in various departments.
