AIIMS Delhi or IMS BHU would be the best for MBBS?

Firstly, I had the opportunity to join AIIMS, other than AIIMS Delhi, but I willingly surrendered my seat in a Peripheral AIIMS for obvious reasons. Just check the ranking of IMS-BHU (5th) in the list of Top Medical Colleges in India by NIRF. #No-Offence Secondly, although I felt disappointed about not getting into AIIMS Delhi, I never regret it, let alone the AIIMS Tag. Trust me, the BHU Tag carries much more weight. Thirdly, the only significant advantage of AIIMS was its funding. However, IMS-BHU is now funded equally as any other AIIMS, enjoying the distinction of an AIIMS-Like situation. Last but not least, I can't do justice to this question without mentioning: “MEDICAL COLLEGE IS BORING, IITians CAN ONLY HAVE LIFE!!” Life at IMS-BHU is much more entertaining, but you need to look beyond the books. To truly enjoy life, you must have real friends. It's not just the place, but the people around you that create your memories. Obviously, I have many, which you'll realize in the pics below. I've made memories that can't be summed up even in tonnes of words.

AIIMS Delhi definitely stands out with its rigorous curriculum and outstanding faculty, providing immense clinical exposure from the second year onward, which is crucial for aspiring doctors. The campus life is vibrant, boasting the largest med fest in Asia and a wide array of sports facilities, making it a well-rounded experience. In contrast, IMS BHU, while also reputable, may not offer the same level of resources and extracurricular activities. If you thrive in a competitive environment with ample opportunities for growth, AIIMS Delhi is the obvious choice. However, if you prefer a more traditional college experience and a slightly less intense atmosphere, IMS BHU could be a better fit. Personally, I'd pick AIIMS Delhi for its unparalleled training and overall student experience.

AIIMS Delhi clearly stands out when comparing it to IMS BHU in terms of fees, ROI, and overall value for money. With a ridiculously low total fee of just 5,856 rupees for the entire MBBS course, AIIMS offers an unmatched financial advantage, especially considering the 30,000 rupee stipend during internships. While IMS BHU might provide a decent education, the financial returns and clinical exposure at AIIMS are significantly better due to its reputation and resources. If you want the best value for your investment in medical education, I’d say go for AIIMS Delhi; it’s the smarter financial choice for aspiring doctors.

Regret?…NOT AT ALL!! Like many aspiring medical students, I dreamed of pursuing MBBS in one of the best colleges in INDIA… and now that I’m living that dream at IMS, I can confidently say that things have changed a lot since my admission. After spending 7 months here, I’m extremely satisfied! ???? Here’s why: Central Institute - Being a central institute comes with many perks, including substantial funding each year and no bond to work for 2–3 years after MBBS, which is often required in state medical colleges. Awesome Academics - The professors at IMS are highly qualified (some even Padma Shree awardees) and have a genuine passion for teaching. We experience fewer mass bunks here compared to the 3-month mass bunk seen in certain state medical colleges. The teaching is supported by regular tutorials, practicals, and seminars. All departments are well-equipped, and we have an impressive ratio of 12 students per cadaver in our dissection hall. These factors contribute to the outstanding academic environment at IMS. When you have these two options, just choose the one that fits your vibe, that's all. Personally, I lean towards AIIMS. Maybe I'm biased, which is definitely possible, and there's a saying that once you step into AIIMS, you won't settle for anything else—probably true to some extent! In case you want some comparisons: Infrastructure: AIIMS offers single rooms with 24×7 cleaning service and definitely better infrastructure, plus students from diverse cultures. PG Quota: BHU has its 50% internal PG quota (AIIMS has a roster system now, but not 50%). Attendance & Exams: AIIMS is strict about the 75% attendance rule, and internal exams are taken very seriously (a double-edged sword). I don't have much info on BHU regarding this. Research Opportunities: If you're interested in research, both colleges provide ample opportunities. Patient Load: I won't comment on patient load since I haven't experienced it yet, but what matters is having an optimum patient load (there's a difference between optimum and maximum) with good teaching staff. There's no point in having 5000 patients a day if there's no one to guide you properly.
