Why is Vidyalankar Institute of Technology still a part of government admissions when there are reports of casteism and discrimination from students?

Despite reports of casteism, Vidyalankar Institute of Technology continues to be involved in government admissions primarily due to the scholarships provided. As someone studying for a Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science & Electronic Engineering), I received financial assistance through the MAHADBT scholarship for my OBC category, which significantly lowered my fees. This support allows students from different backgrounds to pursue higher studies, which is a crucial aspect of our education system.

While there are concerns about discrimination, Vidyalankar Institute of Technology retains its government admission status because it offers substantial financial aid and scholarships for students from various backgrounds. In my experience as a Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics & Telecom Engineering) student, the fees are structured to accommodate those under different reservation categories, which ultimately supports inclusivity and access to education for all.

I think Vidyalankar Institute of Technology is still part of government admissions because they have a solid structure in place for caste-based scholarships and reservations. For example, as a student in the Bachelor of Engineering (Information Technology) program, I benefit from various scholarships, and the fees are significantly reduced for students under OBC and SC/ST categories. This makes higher education accessible to many who might not afford it otherwise. Plus, the admission process is smooth and efficient, which helps maintain this connection with government quotas.

I'm not sure if this is a real issue or just a joke since it was posted anonymously. However, in my almost four years at VIT, I've never experienced any caste-based discrimination from either the teachers or the support staff. If there are rumors about discrimination, they are likely unfounded, as VIT is known for being an inclusive institution. Caste is only relevant when it comes to fees and scholarships, but you'll never deal with it otherwise.

I've been at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology for four years now, and from my experience, I've never seen or heard of any discrimination happening here. I've connected with a wide range of students, from those a couple of years older to those just starting out, and there hasn't been any talk about casteism. The only time caste is mentioned is in the context of scholarships, where the college's fee department manages fee waivers smoothly and fairly.

As for why VIT is still part of the government admissions system, it's up to the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). They allow VIT to participate in the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) since there's no proof of discrimination. If anyone has evidence of such activities, they should definitely report it to DTE.

For those who aren't aware, VIT is unique because it has a lot of seats available and doesn't have the minority reservations that many other top engineering colleges in Mumbai do. This is why there's such a diverse mix of students here, which helps prevent any form of discrimination.
