Life at Grant Medical College is a mix of intense studies and vibrant campus life. The MBBS program here is rigorous, with exams every 3-4 months, but the support from faculty makes it manageable. The faculty-student ratio is quite adequate, meaning we get personalized attention, which is crucial for our learning. So, you've heard about the grand events here and how the hostels are way better than those at other medical schools. That's definitely something special about this place. But there's more to it.

When I joined Grant Medical College, the monsoon had just arrived, and it was the start of August. The Dean gave a welcome speech, and I felt like I was exactly where I was meant to be. If you get in, you’ll see what I mean!

Right at the start, we had elections for General Secretary, Cultural Secretary, and Sports Secretary. Someone from our batch was a potential candidate for CR, and the CR would vote in the elections. My mission was to become good friends with that person in just three days. Imagine being in my shoes. It felt like a secret mission, but I managed to pull it off.

When your college life kicks off like this, just think about how much you can learn here. Even the initial sessions are packed with learning opportunities. Leave your ego at the door and soak it all in. Trust me, your mind will expand. The hostel vibe is lively, not dull at all. There's excitement throughout the year, and you can be whoever you want to be.

For me, choosing medicine over engineering was a big decision, but I took my time. I wanted to dive into the most exciting adventure of my life, learning about the human body and eventually making a difference in people's lives. That was the cherry on top, so I went for it.

There’s so much to explore. If you’re interested in spirituality and the mind’s influence on healing, you can delve into that at ISKCON. Or if tech and entrepreneurship are your things, MICE labs are here for you.

The folks who study here, or have studied here, are really proud to be GMCites. Why? Maybe it's because lectures here are as lively as sessions in the Lok Sabha, with students banging benches to applaud a good lecture. Or maybe it’s the campus, the stories, the legacy, or the respect you get being linked to JJ hospital. What’s the magic of "chakaraka"? People say GMCites have a unique mindset, perhaps due to the legendary professors.

There's no peer pressure here. You can find your own way and what suits you best. It's no surprise that renowned personalities like Aditi Govitrikar, Devdutta Pattanaik, Subhash Bhamre, and Hena Gavit have come from GMC.

The legacy of this college is so vast that it fills multiple books, like ROOM 000 and others about its history. Plus, GMC has its own podcast, "THE GMC SHOW," which interviews successful alumni. You can check it out on YouTube.

You'll meet diverse people here. If you're someone with a curious mind, eager to try new things, or if you're a bit of a rebel with big ideas, this lush green campus in the heart of Mumbai is where you should be. It's a place for a healthy body and mind, truly "MENS SANA IN CORPORE SANO."

At Grant Medical College, being an MBBS student means diving deep into a demanding curriculum. The faculty are highly experienced, and they truly care about our learning, which makes a big difference. We also have a compulsory internship after our finals, which provides us with practical experience in a real hospital setting.

The stipend during the internship is decent at around 10,000 per month, which helps. Campus life is lively with many events like Antarang and Kurukshetra that make the experience memorable.

So, you've wrapped up NEET and all the admission chaos and now you're set to embark on your new journey at GMC Mumbai. After saying goodbye to your parents, you're gearing up for your first day at college. It's a mix of nerves and excitement. You walk into the Anatomy hall, lovingly called the Munna-Bhai Hall, for the Dean's welcome speech.

The hall fills up with fellow med students and their proud parents. The GMC anthem plays, and the Dean's words really hit home. You realize you're now part of India's second-oldest medical school, known for producing doctors who serve both in India and abroad. Time flies by as you juggle between sleep and studying medicine. Eventually, the monotony of M.B.B.S sets in, and you find yourself grumbling about it.

But then comes a breath of fresh air with the cultural drama. Enter Auxesis, which features workshops and talks by famous personalities on everything from stress management to relationships. Then, there's the eagerly awaited Dandiya-Pyrexia. You take pride in the GMC gymkhana near Marine Drive, almost like it's your own place. As you dance with friends and seniors, you recall the fun of rehearsals. The night ends with a buffet on the terrace and a stroll by Marine Drive.

Next, you're looking forward to the Fresher's party when the first terminal exams hit hard. Luckily, seniors step in to help, and you manage to pass, though not with top marks. The Fresher's party auditions are coming up, and you're unsure about performing in front of everyone, be it yoga, dance, or singing. So, you let your talented friends take the spotlight. There's also the challenge or fun of finding a prom date, and it can't be a batchmate. You have to charm a senior, and guess what, you did it! It was a blast. You've had a fantastic time so far, learning your way around GMC and picking up life lessons from heartbreaks to valuing family.

Just when life starts feeling routine again, College Week swoops in to save the day. It's a week of fun events like Rose Day, Traditional Day, and Clone Day. Get ready with lots of roses for this one.

Clone Day has everyone in costumes, and then there's DJ Night, filled with energy and sweat. And don't miss GMC's Holi. People go all out with mud, and it's one of the best Holis you'll play. Here are some crazy pictures!

In the background, those are our super seniors. Can you believe it? There's also a small event by the Anatomy department called Microteaching Anatomica, where students present on clinical topics and get judged by experts. Winners receive a bunch of books.

And that's not all! There are two more big events: Astitva, the biggest cultural fest in all of Maharashtra, and Antarang. Sadly, the "Chinese Virus" messed things up, leading to lockdowns and sending us back to our hometowns. But next year, we're planning to make up for it and have twice the fun.

Life here at Grant Medical College is pretty unique. The MBBS course is tough, but the frequent exams help keep us in check academically. I appreciate how approachable the professors are; they genuinely want us to succeed. The hostel facilities are basic but affordable at 4,000 per year, which is a big plus in Mumbai. On the cultural side, we have events like Astitva and various clubs that make college life enjoyable. It's a great place to grow both academically and personally.
