How do you rate DSCE in Bangalore?

In my experience, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering has its pros and cons. The curriculum for B.E. in Computer Science is pretty good, but there are too many internal exams which can be overwhelming. The average package for placements is about 9 LPA, which is decent, but the real challenge is getting into core companies; many students end up in IT roles instead. The campus life is lively, with plenty of clubs and events, but I do wish the faculty could be more engaging. Overall, it's a solid choice if you're willing to put in the effort.

I wouldn't recommend this college. It's mostly a waste of money. If you fail, you'll need to pay 5200 for Fastrack exams. The teachers aren't great; they're quite strict and harsh, and they don't give full marks easily. You might not even have enough time to focus on placements. The college can be really draining. Placements are just okay, so don't have high expectations, especially if you're an average student.

As someone studying here and originally from North India, I'd suggest not spending your money on DSCE, especially from 2018 onward. Here's why:

• This college doesn't make it to the top 100 in India, whereas options like RVCE and MSRIT are way better if you can get into them.
• DSCE used to have a strong reputation, but now it seems more focused on money. The fee difference is massive: locals pay much less due to scholarships, sometimes under 35k or around 50k, while students from other states have to shell out 2.10 lakhs, not counting living expenses which can push it over 3.2 lakhs per year. Wouldn't it be smarter to take a gap year, improve your JEE Mains score to at least 120, and aim for an NIT or state college with fees under 1 lakh and more respect in the industry? It's your call! Some might say Dayanand Sagar is great because it has been around for a while, but once an education institution becomes all about money, it loses the credibility it built over the years.
• If you're an average student not getting into top colleges, remember that if you get a backlog here, clearing it costs 9k per subject—up from 5k before. And trust me, many students here are average and might face backlogs as the course gets tougher. Plus, revaluation costs 900 per subject.
• As for placements, only the top 10-20 students from each branch might get industrial visits, so placement chances are mainly for them. They claim 80-90% placement, but that's 80-90% of the eligible, which is about 20-30 students per class. IT companies might hire in bulk, but they often lay off employees later.

In the end, I’d suggest considering a year off to improve your JEE score to 120-130 and joining an NIT instead, which offers more value and freedom.

I would say DSCE is a good college, especially for those interested in Computer Science. The curriculum is updated regularly, which is great since we learn relevant topics like AI and IoT. Placements are pretty decent here too; the average package is around 10 LPA, with some students landing jobs at top companies.

However, I find the internal exams quite frequent, which can be stressful. On the positive side, the campus is spacious and there are many clubs to join, making college life enjoyable.

I'm qualified to share my thoughts on this since I'm currently a student here at DSCE.

Campus: I'd give it a 7 out of 10. There are a lot of buildings, but not much greenery.

Hangout Spots: Around 6 out of 10. The security can be a bit strict, so it's hard to find a chill spot.

Study Vibe: Definitely a 9 out of 10. Most people are focused and talk about their studies a lot.

Events and Fests: I'd rate them 8 out of 10. The college fests and fashion shows are quite famous.

Library: A solid 10 out of 10. It's a fantastic place to study.

Crowd: 9 out of 10. You'll meet all kinds of interesting people here.

Canteens: The Indian canteen gets a 9 out of 10, while the NRI canteen is a 6 out of 10. It's good but a bit pricey.

Hostel: From what I hear from friends, the Indian hostel is a bit cramped, so I'd say 7 out of 10. The NRI hostel is better but costs more.

Surroundings: A perfect 10 out of 10. Kumaraswamy Layout is lively with lots of PGs, flats, and food options.

Labs: They deserve an 8 out of 10. Pretty decent overall.

Teaching: I'd give it an 8 out of 10. Some teachers are really cool, though a few are just average.

Overall Experience: I'd rate my overall time here a 7 out of 10.
