I chose Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering for its reputation and the opportunities it offers in the Computer Science and Engineering course. The curriculum is quite relevant to current tech trends, and I can see that they are trying to keep up with industry demands, but the exam pressure can be a bit much.
The placements are good, with the highest package reaching 56 LPA, and I feel that with some effort, I can secure a decent job after graduation. Overall, the college has a vibrant campus life, and I've enjoyed being part of the various clubs and events.
Hey Bhavana
Thanks for asking
Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering (DSCE) is part of the huge Dayananda Sagar Institutions (DSI) spread across a large area with several sister institutions. The infrastructure is top-notch; from buildings and libraries to classrooms, labs, Wi-Fi, and e-books, everything is well-equipped.
The teaching quality is pretty decent. The college recently got an A grade from NAAC. Being an autonomous institution, DSCE in Bangalore updates its syllabus regularly.
Since you're interested in the CSE branch at DSCE, you'll find it exciting because it hosts the Microsoft Innovation Lab (MIL) and Socio Tech Innovation Lab, which frequently organize hackathons, internships, and contests. The head of the CSE department is also the VP of DSCE, ensuring that CSE students get the latest updates on competitions.
About 70% of students get placed, mainly in companies like Infosys, Accenture, and Cognizant. The Computer Science and Information Science branches see 100% placement. DSCE stands out from other engineering colleges because companies like Deloitte, Dell, HP, JP Morgan, L&T, and Mu Sigma also recruit from here. The average salary is around 4.5 lakhs, while the highest salary reached 15 lakhs in 2016.
We'd be thrilled to have talented students join our campus.
Good luck!
Great for computer science and information science. Civil and mechanical placements are limited. Offers lots of extracurricular options. Located in the heart of the city. Has an NRI hostel. The campus is small yet stunning.
Note: DSCE has become a university, so I'm not sure about the current situation.
Hey there!
That's quite a broad question, but I'll try to make my response as concise as possible.
Education Quality (9/10)
When it comes to education quality and faculty, we had some amazing professors back when I was there. Many were either PhD holders or working towards their PhDs. They were super supportive and helped us a lot with our projects. They were even available after class and on weekends if we needed extra help.
Labs and Equipment (8/10)
The lab facilities were pretty good, especially in the ECE department. I also checked out a few other departments, and their labs had modern equipment, with some being updated regularly. I believe using analog instruments first is key to mastering digital ones, and DSCE's facilities definitely met those needs.
Cultural and Extra Activities (7.5/10)
On the extracurricular side, we had decent support. There were some highs and lows, but overall, the four-year experience was positive. I even got to represent DSCE at some events. Regular IEEE and faculty development programs were a big plus.
Library (9.5/10)
The library is awesome! It's a whole building with a digital library, technical and reference sections, books, periodicals, and a fantastic auditorium. It's a great place with plenty of updated textbooks and reference materials. You can even request special books if needed.
Campus (9.5/10)
The campus itself is stunning, spread over 33 acres. It's one of the most beautiful campuses I've seen in Bangalore, with excellent infrastructure.
That's a little glimpse into DSCE!
Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering has been a decent experience for me in the Computer Science and Engineering course. The curriculum is well-structured, and I feel it prepares us for real-world applications. The faculty is approachable, and I've found them helpful when it comes to clearing doubts.
However, the exam frequency can be overwhelming as we have internals almost every month. The placement opportunities are pretty good, with many companies visiting the campus, and the average package is around 8 LPA, which I think is decent for freshers. Overall, I'm satisfied with my choice so far.
