What are the realistic chances of me converting IIM Trichy? My CAT 2022 %ile is 96.33 with sectionals(95.24,96.89,85.65) (QA,DILR, VARC). I am GEM. 10-78%, 12-79.8% Btech-73.44%. Work Ex- 34 months

Since your CAT percentile is already good, you need to work hard for your Personal Interview. In PI, you will be judged for the following:
- Communication Skills
- Academic Ability
- Current Affairs & General Awareness
- Managerial & Leadership Abilities
- Co-curricular and Extra-curricular Activities
Next comes the UG score which is calculated as - UG performance score = (percent score at UG * discipline weightage) * 0.5

10th and 12th marks carry very little weightage. Still, you can compensate for these low marks by paying extra attention to your PI preparing and acing the interview. Another area where you have an upper hand is work experience.
So I will say your chances of converting IIM Trichy are not exactly low. With the right motivation and an excellent interview, you can increase your chances of getting a call. Your CAT percentile has already got you halfway there so put in extra some efforts to make it into IIM Trichy.

There is a possibility that your waitlist rank at IIM Trichy could be 48 in the NC-OBC category. Perhaps in the second or third list at the very least, but without a doubt, it can be converted.
What is going to be a better option among the following B schools - VGSOM, new IIMs (Ranchi, Trichy, Raipur), or NMIMS?
When it comes to choosing a business school, the competition is fierce and the options can be overwhelming. Three institutes that are considered to be among the top in the country are the Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSOM) at IIT Kharagpur, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi, and the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS).
If you are interested in an operations profile, then VGSOM is a great choice. It is considered to be one of the best institutes in the country for operations specialization, after NITIE. Additionally, the return on investment (ROI) is high. IIM Ranchi, on the other hand, may have a lower average package compared to the other two institutes, but it has the prestige of the IIM tag and a decent profile. The hostels are also fabulous, with single rooms available for students.
NMIMS is considered to be more costly and the batch strength is over 500 students. The top 150-200 students get superb packages and roles that are at par with other top B-schools, however, the next lot of students may have a lot of start-ups, etc. If you want to play safe, VGSOM or IIM Ranchi might be the best option.
However, if you are willing to take a risk, NMIMS might be a good choice as the profiles there are really good. It's ultimately up to you to decide which institute aligns best with your career goals and objectives. Rest assured, whichever institute you choose, you will be choosing a great institution as all three are among the top institutes in the country.
IIM Udaipur or IIM Trichy would be the best for MBA/PGDM?
IIM Udaipur and IIM Trichy both have their strengths, but when it comes to fees and ROI, IIM Udaipur's total cost is around 22 lakhs, with an average package of 19.5 lakhs, making it a decent investment. However, IIM Trichy, while not explicitly detailed here, has a reputation for better placements and possibly a more robust alumni network, which can enhance long-term career prospects. Scholarships at IIM Udaipur are mostly limited to reserved categories, which might make it less appealing for general category students. Honestly, if you are looking for a more established brand with potentially better ROI, IIM Trichy could be the smarter financial choice, while IIM Udaipur is great for those who prefer a vibrant campus life and are okay with the associated risks.
What if I got an offer letter from IIM Trichy but don’t want to join? Will I get a refund of Rs 20,000, which I paid to know the waitlist??
Yes, you will get the refund amount that you paid to block the seat, but you have to apply for the refund before the mentioned date. You have to go to the official website of IIM Trichy. During the admission process, they generate a link for a refund as well. You just have to fill in your bank account details and the reason for not joining the institute. They will refund your amount within 4-7 days. The same case happened to me. I paid 20,000 rupees to block my seat for IIM Trichy core but was not able to convert; after some time, when I became hopeless, I applied for a refund, and they returned it in a few days.
