What are the pros and cons of MNIT Jaipur??

N
NimbleNavigator Posted On : February 22nd, 2026

The good things about MNIT Jaipur have been covered by others, so I'll talk more about the downsides here. I studied CSE in the general category at MNIT, and my experience with placements wasn't great, which is why I'm sharing this. If you're someone who just follows teachers without question, you might not find this helpful. But if you're really into learning a specific technical skill, read on.

In the first year, you have to study subjects like Engineering Design, Mechanical Fundamentals, Electrical Fundamentals, Electronics Communications, Logic Design (second year), Physics, and Chemistry. As a computer science student who loves coding, I didn't see how these subjects related to what I wanted to learn. Until the sixth semester, we didn't get to study important skills like Java, Web Development, App Development, or Machine Learning in our courses.

Because of this, my CGPA was below 7 before the seventh semester, and I didn't get a job through campus placements. My mistake was focusing too much on coding and not enough on subjects like CAED. However, I eventually got a job at an MNC, so it's all good now.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Students should have more choices in picking their subjects.
  • The strict attendance requirement, which was 75% when I was there, should be relaxed.
  • Many professors overload students with assignments, which isn't fair to those who work hard.

I'll share more details about the downsides later since there are issues that aren't often discussed. If you're really into coding, even NIT Kurukshetra might be a better choice, as they teach DS, ALGO, OS, DBMS, and Web Development by the end of the second year.

Academics at MNIT could really improve. Thanks for reading.

What is the craziest thing you have done as a student at MNIT Jaipur?

During my first year at MNIT Jaipur, I decided to call for a mass bunk for the D1 batch during a Maths class. To my surprise, Mr. Bhattar was right behind me when I did it. He told me not to attend his class for the rest of the semester. Luckily, a few days later, he forgave me.

How many marks (in percentage) are required in graduation degree for an M.Sc. from MNIT Jaipur?

Muskan Agrahari Posted On : June 26th, 2025

To secure admission in the M.Sc. course at MNIT Jaipur, you require: At least 60% graduation marks (General/EWS/OBC category), Minimum 55% marks for SC/ST/PwD and a Valid IIT JAM score (subject-wise) and to pursue M.Sc. Chemistry, you should have pursued Chemistry for a minimum of 4 semesters in graduation, and Maths in Class 12 is usually necessary.

Admission Process: Take the IIT JAM, Attend CCMN counselling following JAM results, enter your course and college preferences (e.g., M.Sc. Applied Chemistry at MNIT Jaipur) Depending on your rank and category, you might be getting a seat.

CCMN 2025 Round 1 Closing Ranks (General Category)

Course General (CR) OBC (CR) SC (CR) ST (CR) EWS (CR)
M.Sc. Applied Mathematics 852 1017 2546 5057 953
M.Sc. Applied Chemistry 960 1309 3908 5191 1386
M.Sc. Applied Physics 975 1288 3525 6244 1273

Therefore, if your JAM rank is less than 1000 (General), you have a good chance for an M.Sc at MNIT Jaipur in the initial rounds.

Which nit is best for an M.Sc. in chemistry?

Muskan Agrahari Posted On : June 26th, 2025

NIT Trichy is the best NIT for M.Sc Chemistry. It is excellent in faculty, research output, and placements. Next come the best options, like NIT Warangal, NIT Rourkela, NIT Surathkal, and NIT Calicut. All of these NITs are well-ranked and also have good chemistry departments.

To join, you must qualify through IIT JAM in Chemistry, and for the premier NITs such as Trichy or Warangal, a rank of 1000–2000 (General category) is generally secure.

So if you target top ranks, decent research, and campus life—try out Trichy or Warangal first!

NIT Reputation/Ranking Typical JAM Rank (General)
NIT Trichy Best 1,000–2,000
NIT Warangal Excellent 1,200–2,500
NIT Rourkela Very Good 1,500–2,500
NIT Surathkal Very Good 2,000–3,000
NIT Calicut Good 2,500–3,500

Is there any college I can get into if my JEE Main CRL is 112660 in the Gen category??

Muskan Agrahari Posted On : June 26th, 2025

You can have a college of this standard, but the best NITs and core branches such as CSE or ECE might not be available in the open category. But the newer NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs with less competitive streams such as civil, metallurgy, or production provide opportunities, particularly in spot or special rounds.

Attempt home state counseling with better cutoffs. State and private engineering colleges consider this rank. Complete a few options in JoSAA and remain flexible. You can get into a good college but may not get the top branch.

I got 281441 rank in JEE Mains. Can I take admission to MNIT Jaipur

Muskan Agrahari Posted On : June 26th, 2025

You are not eligible to enroll at MNIT Jaipur under the general All India quota in B.Tech because of your JEE Main rank of 281,441. For this reason, depending on the branch, the lowest rank in the General category (AI quota) at MNIT Jaipur in 2025 was approximately 38,000. Metallurgy and civil engineering, two even less competitive fields, close below 80,000–90,000. Your rank is far beyond this range.

Here is what can you do:

– Search other NITs or GFTIs: Lower cutoffs will be there in New NITs or Government Funded Technical Institutes. If you belong to SC/ST/OBC/EWS, there is hope.

 – State-Level Colleges: Apply to state engineering colleges or private universities with higher cutoffs that take JEE Main scores. Examples: RTU, LNCT, VIT, etc.

 – Management Quota / Direct Admission Private colleges permit students to accept admissions on the basis of their 12th-grade marks or low JEE ranks.

 – Take a Gap Year If you wish to enter NITs or top colleges, take a gap to prepare for JEE Main 2026.

Muskan Agrahari Posted On : June 26th, 2025

Both MNIT Jaipur and NIT Jamshedpur are good options for CSE, but your personal choice may be based on what matters to you more—higher average packages or overall reputation.

Quick Comparison – CSE at NIT Jamshedpur vs MNIT Jaipur:

Feature NIT Jamshedpur (CSE) MNIT Jaipur (CSE)
NIRF Rank (2024) 101–150 (Engineering) 43 (Engineering)
Avg. Package (CSE) 20.24 LPA (2024) 11.06 LPA (overall B.Tech)
Highest Package 82 LPA (CSE, 2024) 64 LPA (UG, 2023)
Placement Rate 93.04% (CSE) 81.5% (overall UG)
Cutoff Rank (Gen) ~7,855 (Jamshedpur, CSE) ~5,300 (Jaipur, CSE – expected)
Campus Life Moderate city, good peer group Big campus, metro city, better exposure
Accreditation NBA, AICTE, MHRD NBA, NAAC, AICTE, MHRD

Choose NIT Jamshedpur CSE if you desire more average and highest CSE employment offers, good core positions, and a dedicated cadre of peers, and the cut-off is slightly lower than MNIT Jaipur.

Choose MNIT Jaipur CSE if you prefer improved national ranking, metro city lifestyle, greater campus, added academic exposure, and the reputation of one of the best NITs
