Is IIITM Gwalior (IT) or AIT Pune (CSE) better and why?
If your interest lies in the IT field, IIITM Gwalior must be your priority. Ranked 100 for engineering by NIRF in 2020, IITM offers IT as its flagship course. IIITM Gwalior is one of the 3 institutions in India with 100% Ph.D. faculties. The campus is equipped with all the required facilities for the overall development of students.
If you are more inclined towards CSE then go for AIT Pune. It is ranked 109 for engineering by NIRF, 2020. AIT has a good faculty-student ratio of 1:14 with highly qualified and experienced faculties.

Placement statistics:
- CSE branch has excellent placements at JIIT with top recruiting companies being Adobe, Amazon, Flipkart,HCL,India Mart,Infosys,Microsoft,and many more.
- 95% of CSE students were placed in the top companies in the year 2019. A total of 308 job offers were received by the students.
- The highest package was of 42 Lacs, the lowest is 3.7 Lacs by a service-based company and the average salary is around 6-7 Lacs for CSE.
Infrastructure:Basic facilities like libraries, hostel, Gyms, sports centers, and Labs are available to provide. Libraries have many quality books for the student to study.
Exposure:JIIThas agood environment as students and teachers take programming very seriously making a good circle and environment to develop an interest in programming.
Should I join information technology at IIEST Shibpur or NIT Allahabad biotechnology?
Here are some suggestions on these two options-
Biotech is a good branch with increasing scope. The Biotech Department of NIT Allahabad offers good facilities to its students. The college also organizes an annual Biotech fest by the name of “Biosangam”.
IT is a very safe option these days. It offers good career opportunities. To do well in this field, one has to stay updated on tech developments and work on one’s coding skills. This field requires self-training the most. I am not aware of the IT department at IIEST Shibpur. IT students at IIEST would know the best about the placement prospects.
Both these options are good. The choice depends on one’s interest area.
Which college is better for IT, Thakur or Atharva?
Atharva College of Engineering is a better option for IT students. Studying here I have received the best education. They provide the best infrastructure, accommodation facilities and have a very cooperative faculty.

Which one is better, NIT Allahabad for IT or NIT Surathkal for Mechanical Engineering?
It’s difficult to determine which institute is better because the courses in the question are different. However, if a choice has to be made between the two colleges, one can look at the different criteria.
NIT Allahabad (Information Technology):
The college was ranked at 48 out of the 300 engineering colleges in India. The duration of the course Information Technology is 4 years. The course structure in NIT Allahabad is more or less the same as compared to other NITs.
Admission:
- Students should pass 10+2 exams with at least 75% marks in the science stream in order to be eligible.
- The admission is through JEE Mains. In 2019 the closing cutoff for IT was 5595 (other states), and 6316 (home state).
Placements:
- There were a total of 90 students out of which 85 students were placed.
- Some of the top recruiters who gave jobs were Adobe, Google, Accenture, Amazon, Dell, Cisco, Motorola, Infosys, IBM, and Hero Honda.
- The average CTC and the maximum CTC that was acquired by the students of IT are 12.96 LPA and 39 LPA.
NIT Surathkal (Mechanical Engineering):
The college was Ranked 21st by NIRF in Engineering colleges 2019.
Admission:
- The admission for the program mechanical engineering is done on the basis of marks acquired in 10+2 or similar also JEE exam. The final selection for the student will be done by JOSS counseling.
- For a student to be eligible for the college they need to get 75% of marks in the science stream. For SC and ST students the required aggregate is 65%.
- In 2019 the closing cutoff for Mechanical Engineering was 8980 (other states), and 14895 (home state).
Placements:
The college is known for its placements, in the year 2019, the college provided 100% placement.
- Around 60 companies visited the campus to provide placements to the mechanical engineering students.
- Some of the top recruiters included Honeywell, Axis Bank, Myntra Logistics, Amazon, McAfee, Samsung, R&D, HSBC technology, Wells Fargo, Microsoft, Byjus, City Bank, Oyo, Epsilon India, Wipro India, Walmart, and Snap lab.
- The highest and average CTC received by the students were 39 LPA and 14.5 LPA.
Therefore, if a college has to be chosen between two, one can look at the above parameters.
Should I join IIT Bhubaneswar Metallurgy in hope of a branch change to CS or join IIIT Allahabad for my preferred branch i.e. Information Technology?
If your choice of course is information technology, then you should go for IIIT Allahabad. Both IIT Bhubaneswar and IIIT Allahabad are good colleges but the choice comes down to the course you are interested in. Joining a college with the hope that you will get your branch changed is risky. Do not make the decision to take IIT Bhubaneswar just for the IIT tag. In India, metallurgy has less scope as compared to IT. Also, IT from IIIT Allahabad is considered among the best in India.
There can be two possible outcomes if you go for IIT Bhubaneswar Metallurgy.
Outcome 1- You study hard in your 1st year to score 9+ CGPA and succeed in changing your branch to CSE (keep in mind that it is difficult to change branches in IIT). Then you get your IIT tag and choice of branch.
Outcome 2- If you fail to change your branch you will be stuck with Metallurgy which has less placement offer in India.
So, don't go for IIT Bhubaneswar Metallurgy just for the sake of IIT tag. As IIIT Allahabad IT is among the top IT programs in India with decent placement.
What would be a better choice in terms of placements: SRM Kattankulathur (IT) or NIT Manipur/Mizoram/Sikkim (CS)?
I completed my BTech CSE from NIT Manipur in 2021. NITs consistently perform well in terms of placements. NITs fees are much lower compared to SRMIST and other private engineering colleges.

NIT Manipur has the best placement figures among the three NITs. As per NIRF 2023 Engineering Ranking, NIT Manipur ranks 95th, while NIT Sikkim ranks in the 151-200 bracket.
NITs are “Institutes of National Importance''. NITs are government colleges. They come next in line to IITs for their high brand value. Though SRM Chennai is a well-known college, it does not carry the same reputation as the IITs and NITs. Due to these factors, I had decided to pursue BTech CSE from NIT Manipur.
What should I take, IT from COEP or Metallurgy from NIT Surathkal?
The answer to this question is very subjective. On one hand, you are getting a top-notch branch at a not-so-celebrated college, on the other, a top NIT is offering a mediocre branch. Your interest matters as much in this situation.
As a student of Metallurgy at NIT Surathkal, I can shed some light on this option. The branch has a small strength of around 38-40 students in each batch. Your peers will be very supportive people. The faculty for metallurgy is experienced, learned, and supportive. Metallurgy, in fact, is one of the most student-friendly branches of NIT Surathkal. The professors are always there to solve any doubts and queries of their students.
As for the curriculum, the majority of it revolves around steel and its properties, ceramics, polymers, etc. With an interest in your branch, the curriculum is quite easy to get through. The placements are good, and maximum students are offered jobs on campus. The average package isn’t too high for this branch. This is because core profiles don’t offer more than 3-9 LPA. You can expect a bit higher packages in non-core job profiles. NITK is a highly esteemed institution, for this reason, a wide range of companies visit the campus during the placement season. The crowd at NITK is very friendly, and the Metallurgy branch has some amazing seniors.
I have provided you with all the relevant information about the Metallurgy branch at NIT Surathkal. Try to reach out to some seniors from COEP IT branch. Make your decision based on what matters the most to you- college name, branch, or your own interest.
Which is the best college for CSE or IT – VIIT (Kondhawa, pune) or Singhgad (Wadgaon, Pune)?
VIIT, Pune offers a BTech, while Singhgad offers a BE program for CSE. VIIT, Pune is ranked 155 for BTech by NIRF. Whereas, Singhgad is ranked 138 for BTech by TOI 2020.
Faculty:
VIIT, Pune has more than 25 faculties for the CSE department and most of them have 10 years of experience in teaching as well as the research field. On the other hand, the department of CSE/IT Singhgad (Pune, Wadgaon) have more than 10 well-qualified teaching staff.
Infrastructure:
The Infrastructure of the CSE department of VIIT is really very good as compared to Singhgad. CSE department of VIIT has established industry-sponsored laboratories such as GSE-RER, ICC (Infosys campus connect), and CISCO networking academy by CISCO.
Admission process:
VIIT Pune and Singhgad follow the same admission process.

These two engineering colleges also require the common eligibility criteria for the students to take admission.
Eligibility- The students should have 60-65% marks in both 10th and +2 science with PCM for the general category and there is 5% relaxation in marks for reserved candidates.
Entrance score- The candidates who want to take B.Tech admission in VIIT and Singhad need to have a valid JEE- Main score and MHT-CET score. In 2019 the JEE Main closing cutoff for CSE at the institutes was 2648 (VIIT), Singhgad (5104).
The annual course fee for CSE at VIIT is 1.5 lakh and at Sinhgad it is 1.24 lakhs for the same.

As of 2019 in VIIT Pune, the highest CTC received by the students of CSE was 15 LPA and the lowest was 2.4 LPA.

Singhgad also provides good placement for CSE students. In 2019 the highest and average CTC at the institute was 8 lakhs and 2.5 lakh.
The major recruiters at both of these institutes are Accenture, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, Microsoft, TCS, etc.
Both the institutes are well-reputed and offer decent CSE programs. So, choose the institute according to your convenience.
Which is the best for CSE/IT - IIITDM Jabalpur, IIITM Gwalior, or DAIICT?
My brother was in the same fix a few years back. After considering various factors he chose IIITM. Here are some of the reasons why he opted for IIITM.
- DAIICT offers ICT and ICT with minors in Computational Science. Almost 40% of the syllabus is basically Communication. The syllabus will be a combination of ECE and IT. If you are sure about Communication then don’t choose DAIICT.
- While choosing try to factor in the location too. DAIICT is situated in Gandhinagar, which is far away from our city. So, it was a point of consideration for my brother.
- DAIICT is private and changes more fees.

Last but not the least, do not keep faculty as one of your deciding factors. This can be hugely misleading. Visit the official websites of the institutes, weigh in the factors important for you, and choose accordingly. Both these institutes have their advantages.
