One of my friends is a student of PIBM Pune. According to him, an internship's purpose is not about earning only money.

• They are a connection that connects the academic and the corporate world.
• When you choose your internship, keep the nature of work in mind. You should know what profile you are applying for.
• Your focus should be on adapting to the corporate culture. You have to understand what skills are required to excel in a particular field.
• You also have to focus on networking and reaching out to people.

While in an internship if you are receiving an amount of money for your work, it is obviously good. But it is not only about the money. Internships are mainly your first step to the corporate world and their functions. Acquiring skills are most important, which will later help you in life.

One of my friends is from IIITM Gwalior. According to him, you can definitely apply for an internship at IIITM Gwalior. These are the steps for the same –

• Find the department/professor you want to apply to. Then find the key decision-makers of the same.
• Try reaching out to the professor if he/she has any need for the same.
• You can also contact the administration for any official source.
• Finally, make a statement of purpose (SOP) that is strong enough to impress the professor.
• You should have detailed clarity as to why you are applying here and what you want to achieve.
• Identify yourself and find what makes you stand out so that the professor will select you.

In the end, do all the formalities and you are good to go for your internship at IIITM Gwalior. Some of the top companies that participate in their placement program include Microsoft, KPMG, Mindtree, Capgemini, Nestle, Asian Paints, Hindustan Unilever, Godrej, etc.

Internships at NIT Jalandhar are good. One of my friends studies at the NIT Jalandhar campus, so I will give its fair review.

• For an internship at Dr. B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar you can contact the NIT faculty. The faculty of NIT Jalandhar is available through email. You can find the faculty’s email address on NIT’s official website.
• Getting an internship also depends on faculty experience and how much knowledge they are sharing. But you will gain knowledge by working under experienced professors.
• Several companies such as Amazon, Samsung, G.E, and many more have offered internships previously. Mostly these companies conduct their online test to select candidates. You can also find more about NIT Internship on its Facebook Page name 'NIT Jalandhar Placements’.

During your internship period, you will get to learn many things. Several reputed companies come for campus placement and select students both as an intern and employee.

Yes, there are internship opportunities available in Heritage Institute of Technology and they do go to different places for internship purposes. But where they go depends on the student's choices and what they are interested in. And most of these internships also carry a stipend component. 

• If you are interested in doing academic research, then you can look for opportunities in laboratories, Universities and R&D organisations. 
• If you are interested in working for a company or an organisation, then you can join them as a Summer Associate, Summer Intern, Summer Analyst. 
• There are various other options available too. 
• You can also intern for social welfare organisations and this can be very beneficial for you if you want to add some co-curricular tag in your resume and make it more appealing. 
• A student interested in research has done two internships during 2nd and 3rd year.

The best chance for an undergraduate student to secure a summer internship opportunity in a reputed company is to focus on those companies that visit the college campus for hiring interns.

Reputed companies usually prefer hiring interns from colleges through campus placements rather than running an off-campus recruitment drive. Therefore, if a particular company does not visit your college for internships, the chances of securing an internship with that company are almost null.

Students should focus on applying for internships with companies that visit their college. This can increase their chances of securing a summer internship opportunity with reputed companies. However, this does not mean that students should limit their options to only those companies that visit their college. They can also explore other opportunities by networking, applying through online job portals, or seeking recommendations from alumni or industry professionals.
