Is IBS Hyderabad worth joining considering the return on investment?

RS
Rashmi Singh Posted On : February 16th, 2023
MBA in Marketing, ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad (Graduated 2018)

Before I give you a picture of the ROI offered at IBS Hyderabad, let’s clear some misconceptions regarding what ROI is.

People usually calculate ROI by comparing the fees they have spent with the package they are offered during placements. For instance, if someone pays a fee of 16 Lakhs, they expect a package of nothing less than 10 Lakhs. And if they fail to get placed with such a package, they consider the ROI to be at fault. This in reality is the wrong way to comprehend the ROI. ROI is much more than the package you are offered. ROI includes almost everything you get from the college like

  • A campus with world-class infrastructure and amenities like fitness, recreational, educational, and extracurricular
  • Highly comfortable and clean hostel rooms that make your stay of 2 years a smooth one
  • The best faculty pool that motivates and guides you throughout your college life and helps you find your right path
  • The food at the mess that is healthy and tasty
  • Other safety measures that ensure your stay at IBS a good one

Only after considering these points, is the final ROI in the form of placements taken into consideration. Now if you work hard and maintain the top position you are likely to get a good package ranging from 10-45 LPA. But this depends on how you have spent the 2 years and your commitment to the course.

So ultimately I will say yes, IBS Hyderabad is definitely worth joining considering its ROI.

Which college is good for an MBA among these three colleges in Hyderabad: IPE Hyderabad, IBS Hyderabad, and Woxsen?

ST
Shubham Tiwari Posted On : February 28th, 2023
Former Mentor, Management Education Enthusiast, Advisor at Company Confidential

It is recommended to consider other colleges in Hyderabad for your post-graduation in management. Woxsen has the best infrastructure among the three colleges you mentioned, IPE Hyderabad, IBS Hyderabad, and Woxsen but it also comes with a high cost. IPE is prestigious but might not provide the best return on investment.

Colleges such as IMT, Ashoka School of Business (ASB), NMIMS, SIBM, and others offer a better return on investment with lower course fees of around INR 8–8.5 Lacs. The industry connect at Ashoka is excellent, and they have a number of industry professionals in the academic council to ensure the courses are aligned with industry needs and students receive proper grooming. This leads to lucrative placement opportunities.

If you have an engineering background and want to pursue your career in Operations and Supply Chain Management, then you should opt for SIOM Nashik.

For Operations and Supply Chain Management, IBS Hyderabad is not up to the mark. Besides, the institute also does not have Operations as a major specialization in the final year of the course. You will need to opt for Operations as a minor specialization in the final year.

Here is a brief outline of the institutes.

First of all, congratulations on graduating and making the best decision to opt for an MBA in Finance. You have to carefully examine the infrastructure, fees, facilities, and faculties before confirming an institute, and this is a crucial step for every candidate.

Let us have a brief comparison of the colleges you have preferred-

  1. IMT Hyderabad – This institute is known for its infrastructure, location, and faculty, but it is new and lacks experience when compared with institutes like IMT Nagpur.
  2. IFIM Bangalore – They are good at academics but charge exorbitant fees.
  3. IBS Hyderabad – They have a resourceful atmosphere in their college and are good at infrastructure. Every class is filled with a greater number of students, and they also charge a high price for each seat.
  4. Welingkar School – They are superlative at infrastructure, faculty, academics, facilities, and campus life. Most importantly, they follow affordable fee schemes for the students.

So, you can go with the option of Welingkar School for your studies.

What are the chances of getting into IBS Hyderabad with a 71.1 percentile score after GD PI?

SS
Samar Singh Posted On : February 16th, 2023
B Com from Hansraj College, University of Delhi (Graduated 2017)

Technically speaking, you need at least 87 percentile to make it into IBS Hyderabad. Although I have seen someone get in even with a 76 percentile, you should know that the chances are extremely low. This is because the students who get selected initially sometimes leave after getting offers from other B Schools like Great Lakes, NMIMS or FORE that are more convenient for them. This in turn empties several seats and candidates with a lower percentile who set ISB Hyderabad as the first preference get a chance to get admission. Even if you are unable to make it into Hyderabad, try for the Mumbai campus.

How much academically intense is the MBA curriculum at IBS Hyderabad?

DS
Deborah Sam Posted On : February 24th, 2023
MBA from ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad

The MBA curriculum at IBS Hyderabad is heavily focused on case studies. The academic department designs these case studies to help students improve their decision-making and interpretation skills. The case studies are distributed to students every week, and they are considered to be an interactive and comprehensive learning tool, combining both objective and subjective data to give a thorough understanding of the concepts.

You will find that your day is filled with back-to-back lectures, presentations, case study discussions, guest lectures by prominent speakers, and other skill development activities. In your first semester, you will have 8-9 subjects and lectures from 9:30 AM to 6 PM, which may make you feel that you have little time to relax.

Ultimately, it is up to you to make the most of the academic curriculum and resources provided to you.
