I would like to know the career prospects after completing the PGPBM program from IIM Trichy (Chennai campus) or similar courses other than the regular PGP course from IIMs like the EPGP, etc.?

PGDM from Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India (Graduated 2018)

The one-year MBA programs are full-time residential courses offered by various IIMs. These programs have a lot of credibilities. Some major shifts you will experience after completing this program are

  • Your Management skills will have been upgraded
  • You will be offered better placement opportunities ranging from mid to senior sector roles depending on your profile and past experience
  • You will receive high package offers

The admission process is quite a task with great competition. Even after you join, you will be facing industry experts and talented people thereby increasing the competition.

MT
Mayank Thakur Posted On : June 11th, 2021
Studied at Calcutta University (2018)

One of my friends is a local of Jharkhand. He was eligible to get into all departments and ECE at NIT Jamshedpur except CSE, and he got into the same situation where he had to choose between IT at IIEST Shibpur and ECE at NIT Jamshedpur.

He chose IT at IIEST Shibpur and was satisfied with his decision. IIEST has a good campus which is given the INI tag, their seniors are also very good who motivate their juniors.

In the following table, you will get information on IT at IIEST Shibpur and ECE at NIT Jamshedpur.

Category

IIEST Shibpur

NIT Jamshedpur

Fees

INR 71000

INR 7.16 Lakh

Recruiters

BHEL, Wipro, Axis Bank, Indian Navy, Google, Microsoft, Deloitte, Google, etc.

Amazon, Deloitte, Bajaj Auto, Wipro Turbo, Vedanta, etc.

Lowest package

INR 2.53 LPA

INR 3 LPA

Highest package

INR 40 LPA

INR 30 LPA

Completed with a good campus, great seniors, and recently been given the INI tag, it has the energy and enthusiasm to excel and the Director of IIEST is a great person. He works hard to improve the place.

Many of my friends study at NIT Jamshedpur. It has a good infrastructure but not in better condition. Newly constructed hostels at NIT are also good. But officials of NIT are not promising.

Therefore, IIEST Shibpur is a better choice as it will give you many opportunities and give you a better experience.

Is an ENI in BITS Goa good, and is it better than NIT Surathkal's EEE?

KA
Kriti Anand Posted On : August 20th, 2021
B.E. EEE from BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus (2019)

ENI stands for Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering while EEE is Electrical & Electronics Engineering. Having known some people studying at both these institutions, I can say that BITS Goa is better than NIT Surathkal.

  • In terms of infrastructure, BITS Goa is obviously better than NIT Surathkal.
  • Better companies visit BITS Goa campus than NIT Surathkal.
  • The course curriculum and the quality of academic projects are also better at BITS Goa.
  • The faculty at BITS Goa is also top-notch.
  • In between the two branches, both are almost the same barring a few subjects (3 subjects to be precise).
  • The course load, placements, and projects all are similar between the two.
  • As these are core branches, getting placed in the core companies is going to be difficult at either of the institutes.
Categories ENI at BITS Goa EEE at NIT Surathkal
Course Fee 19.19 lakh 5.40 lakh
Highest CTC 25 LPA 30 LPA
Average CTC 12-13 LPA 15 LPA
Recruiting Companies Arcesium, Goldman Sachs, nVidia, Texas Instruments, etc. Qualcomm, L&T, Microsoft, Samsung, etc.

Finally, I would say that ENI at BITS Goa is very good and actually might be a little better than EEE at NIT Surathkal.

What should I prefer, KJ Somaiya IT or CS from Thadomal Shahani?

RS
Rishabh Suman Posted On : June 1st, 2021
studied Computer Engineering at K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering

There isn't much of a difference between IT and CS, forget institutes individually where you would pursue them. Both CS and IT happen to consist of more or less the same subjects and the course pattern is also similar. There are only a handful of subjects that do not match when it comes to the subject courses of CS and IT and trust me, that isn't as important as it seems.

Eventually, it is all about your choice of college. It is assumed that you have done some prior research beforehand on the institutes. A former student of this institute who I know would also suggest not giving too much importance to the branches either.

Also, special mention to KJ Somaiya as along with the benefits of autonomy, you would be able to grab better placement opportunities for yourself at reputed companies with a handsome salary package. The top recruiters of the students of KJ Somaiya are Cognizant, PwC, Amazon, etc. Till now, 90% of students have been placed and the CTC was as high as 29.75 LPA and the average CTC stood at 9.4 LPA. Banking, Financial Services, IT are the sectors which recruited the most students.

Which is the better option, SIBM Bangalore, TAPMI, or Great Lakes PGPM?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : May 17th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

SIBM Bangalore, TAPMI, and Great Lakes PGPM are top Indian business schools with distinct capabilities. Your job goals and choices determine it.

SIBM Bangalore has a robust curriculum, skilled instructors, and a focus on practical learning through case studies and industry interactions. Many top companies hire from the institute. Students have several internship and business engagement possibilities in Bangalore, a hub for top corporations.

TAPMI is a top business school with rigorous academics, skilled faculty, and excellent industry contacts. Many top companies hire from the institute. TAPMI is in Manipal, Karnataka, a university town that fosters study.

Great Lakes PGPM, is known for its academic curriculum, experienced professors, and creative programs. A unique 1-year program at the institute gives students the skills and knowledge they need to excel in the fast-changing corporate environment.

It's up to you to decide what kind of return on investment (ROI), brand value, and/or location/career convenience you need from your business school. TAPMI and Great Lakes provide comparable average packages (between 11 and 12 lakhs per year), but SIBM Bangalore's average is lower, at 9 to 10 lakhs. Great Lakes Chennai is the best option out of the three because it has the most appealing combination of affordable rates and a well-known name brand. When compared to SIBM Pune and Great Lakes, TAPMI and SIBM Bangalore both fall short.

Which is a better college for a part-time MBA in Finance: NMIMS or IMT Ghaziabad?

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : May 2nd, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

NMIMS is a reputable business school, and they are one of the few places in Mumbai that offer a 2-year part-time MBA program. The college is well organized, and facilities are at par, you will get to learn from the best people in the business.

Generally also to specialize in finance and banking, NMIMS Mumbai is a great option. It has a great Finance faculty. In general NMIMS placements are better. During the recruitment drive for 2022, students got a CTC of about INR 23.07 LPA on average. CRISIL, HDFC Bank, EY, Goldman Sachs, and other big companies often send recruiters to the college drive. Because the class sizes are small, every student gets a good chance during placements.

Which institution is better for MBA in Finance- SPJIMR or IIM- Indore? (For someone who has only 6 months of work experience)

JR
Jyoti Ranjan Posted On : March 10th, 2023
MBA in Finance (college major), S P Jain School of Global Management (Graduated 2019)

Trying to make sure my answer is as objective as possible, I have mentioned the pros of both institutes namely SPJIMR and IIM Indore. The final decision can be made by choosing the one whose benefits appeal to you the most and matches your inclinations.

SPJIMR

  • Small batch size of 250-300 students makes it possible to develop good bonding between peers. There is almost a family-like feeling. The small batch size also reduces the level of competition and increases proximity to faculty
  • The average package was pretty decent this year and stood at INR 26.06 LPA
  • A major USP of SPJIMR is its Rural internship called DOCC and GFT(global fast track program). These offer a unique experience of rural India as well as the foreign market in the same year.
  • Another distinguishing factor of SPJIMR is the minors offered n other specializations like Analytics, Consulting, etc. This is like a secondary specialization for backup in the future.
  • The culture at SPJIMR is friendly mainly because of the unique selection process

IIM Indore

  • The main USP is the IIM Tag
  • Huge batch size resulting in a larger stronger alumni base
  • You do not have to choose a specialization at the time of admissions. Specializations are chosen after a year and still, the degree awarded is that of a General MBA only. So if you are not sure of your specialization and want to explore various aspects of Management, then IIM Indore is a better option for you.
