Although NIT Agarta holds a bigger brand name, it is still a growing NIT. On the other hand, PEC has an older history of about 100 years and continues to flourish. 

Here are some insights into the PEC according to my friends who completed their B.Tech from there.

• Faculty: PEC has some of the best-experienced faculties and many research scholars. On the other hand, NIT struggles to have enough experienced professors as the NIT is newly established.
• Location: Chandigarh is at advantage any day because of its easy proximity and being an education hub. It is better in terms of facilities and coaching centers too. Whereas, Agartala is at a huge disadvantage due to accessibility and opportunities.
• Quality of students: You can see a huge difference in the cutoff trend of JEE Mains rank for both the colleges. In the case of NIT Agartala, about 50% of the total seats are reserved for home-state candidates in the range of 90k to 1.5 lakh. Whereas the cutoff trend is much lower at PEC with just over 60 K for branches like metallurgy!
• Clubs: You can choose over various clubs at PEC Chandigarh. Theseclubs are well renowned and they have even gained respect in IITs during fests and events.

All in all, it is recommended to choose PEC Chandigarh any day over NIT Agartala. PEC definitely belongs to the league with NIT Surat, Allahabad, and others. However, if the NIT tag is all that you are looking for, then go for NIT Agartala.

NIT Nagaland has a NIRF 2020 rank of 67 and NIT Agartala has a rank of 52 in the engineering category. NIT Nagaland is an autonomous institution recognized by AICTE and UGC whereas NIT Agartala is a government institute that is to be a deemed university.

Admission-

To be eligible for admission, students are expected to have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 75% along with their JEE Main score.

• For NIT Agartala, for programs like B.Tech, the total fees are in the range of Rs. 1 Lakh to Rs. 6 lakhs.

• At NIT Nagaland, the total fees for programs like B.Tech lie in the range of Rs. 1 Lakh to Rs. 4 lakhs respectively.

JEE Main cutoff 2019 -

• NIT Agartala - For the PE branch it was 28827 and 33637 as the opening and closing rank respectively for the General category. For reserved categories, the opening and closing ranks were 2763 and 11083 respectively.

• NIT Nagaland - For the ME branch it was 27146 and 29838 as the opening and closing rank respectively for General category students from other states. For reserved categories, the opening and closing ranks were 1896 and 7826 respectively for students from other states.

Placement -

• For NIT Agartala, the median CTC was Rs. 5.5 LPA and saw 188 students being placed overall. The highest offered CTC was from Works Applications.

• For NIT Nagaland, Allstate, Power Grid, Lakshaya, Vedanta, L&T, Toppers, Mphasis, were the top recruiters.

• The major recruiters for NIT Agartala were L&T Infotech, Vedanta, Future Group, Havells, Axis Bank, ABB Limited, Samsung.

For the year 2019, the placement details for the two institutes are as follows.

• NIT Nagaland conducted the 2019 placement drive wherein 22 students were recruited from various departments. The highest CTC worth Rs. 10.5 LPA was offered by Allstate.

• At NIT Agartala, the total no. of offers to PE students was 11.

Which is the better option that needs to be assessed by reviewing the above facts and your perception of the college brand along with the ROI which is on average 93% for NIT Agartala and 112% for NIT Nagaland.

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala has been ranked by the NIRF for its Engineering Program at No.75 out of 100. Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) has been granted the status of Institute of National Importance. It is also ranked 134 for BTech by NIRF 2020. ABV Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IIITM, Gwalior) ranks at 100 for the BTech by NIRF 2020.

Admission: NIT Agartala, RGIPT, and IIITM Gwalior, all these institutes offer various programs in UG and PG levels. However, the popular courses at these institutes are BTech and MTech in different Engineering specializations.

NIT, Agartala-

• In order to get admitted to the B.Tech Program at NIT, the candidate must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics and Physics being the compulsory subjects along with the entrance exam score of JEE Main.

• For M.Tech admissions at NIT, the candidate must have a B.Tech Degree with an aggregate of 60% and selection will be done on the basis of GATE Scores.

RGIPT-

• In order to get admitted to the B.Tech Program at RGIPT, the candidate must have passed 10+2 with an aggregate of 60% along with the entrance exam score of JEE Advanced.

• For M.Tech admissions at RGIPT, the candidate must have a B.Tech Degree with an aggregate of 60% and selection will be done on the basis of GATE Scores.

IIITM, Gwalior-

• In order to get admitted to the B.Tech Program at IIITM, the candidate must have passed 10+2 with an aggregate of 75% along with the entrance exam score of JEE Main.

• For M.Tech admissions at IIITM, the candidate must have a B.Tech Degree and selection will be done on the basis of GATE Scores.

Placements:

NIT, Agartala-

• The placement and internship opportunities at NIT are offered by the top recruiters from Amazon, Samsung, Tata, Indian Army, Infosys, Ashok Leyland, Vedanta, Axis, Tech Mahindra, etc.

• The highest salary package announced from NIT was 32 LPA.

• The average CTC offered is around 5 LPA.

RGIPT-

• The placement and internship opportunities at RGIPT are offered by the top recruiters from Indian Oil, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Accenture, TCS, Reliance, ONGC MRPL, etc.

• The highest salary package announced from RGIPT was 14 LPA.

• The average CTC was recorded around 9.4 LPA.

IIITM Gwalior-

• The placement and internship opportunities at IIITM, Gwalior are offered by the top recruiters from Microsoft, Amazon, EY, Morgan Stanley, Google, Goldman Sachs, Reliance, Dell, etc.

• The highest salary package announced from IIITM was 40 LPA.

• In 2020 placements the average CTC received by the students is 14 LPA.

All three institutes are well-reputed and have their advantages and disadvantages. You should compare the institutes based on the specific course you want to pursue and choose that one offering the better program for that.
