How is the BIMTECH institute related to BITS Pilani, Goa?

BS
Bhumika Singh Posted On : May 11th, 2021
BITS Pilani, Goa

Both the college you have mentioned are not directly related. There’s nothing in common besides the brand name that they carry.

Let’s talk about the institutes one by one.

BIMTECH, Greater Noida:

  • The name expands to the Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH)
  • It is located in the heart of Greater Noida.
  • It is a postgraduate business school that offers PGDM courses in various specializations

Jayashree Mohta is BIMTECH’s Chairperson & Dr. H. Chaturvedi is known to be BIMTECH’s Director

BITS Pilani, Goa:

  • BITS expands to Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani - K. K. Birla Goa Campus. BITS Pilani has around 3-4 campuses, Goa campus is one of them. Also, you would like to know that Pilani is the main college and is located in Rajasthan.
  • It is a technical and science institute for higher education that offers the best courses in B. E., M. Sc., M.E., and Doctoral Programmes

Kumar Mangalam Birla is BITS, Pilani’s Chancellor & Raghuram Gunaje is BITS, Pilani’s Director.

Both of them belong to the same BIRLA Family but were started by different people. BITS Pilani was started by St. G.D. Birla. Whereas BIMTECH was started by Late Syt. B.K. Birla (youngest son of Late G.D. Birla. Hence, both the institutes are different and offer different courses.

What is the CAT cutoff for a BIMTECH retail management course?

AS
Anjali Sharma Posted On : February 4th, 2021
PGDM, BIMTECH

BIMTECH, Greater Noida one of the most desired and highly ranked B-schools in India. It is a preferred destination for MBA or PGDM for CAT 2020 aspirants. Great learning, decent placements, and relatively modest CAT cut-off used in shortlisting for flagship PGDP add to the key strengths of this coveted B-school.

Admission:

  • BIMTECH will accept CAT, XAT to shortlist candidates for the final admission round for PGDM.
  • For admission to PGDM (RM) and PGDM (IBM), an aspirant is required to have a valid CAT / MAT / XAT / GMAT / CMAT score.
  • The Retail Management admission is admissible through the MAT / CMAT score also.
  • Minimum 60 percentile in CAT / XAT and minimum of 80 percentile in MAT/CMAT is required.

Along with the good score, student performance is also examined. BIMTECH has its own selection criterion, which includes Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) and the student has to perform well in both.

IBS Hyderabad, XIME Bangalore, and BIMTECH are well-known Indian B-schools with distinct capabilities.

IBS Hyderabad has a robust curriculum, skilled professors, and a focus on practical learning through case studies and industry linkages. Many top corporations hire from the institute.

XIME Bangalore is another top B-school with industry links and entrepreneurial orientation. The institute partners with numerous top companies to provide internships and actual projects for students.

Which one should I go for, IBS Mumbai or BIMTECH, Noida?

PC
Paulami Choudhary Posted On : June 11th, 2021
Studied at Birla Institute of Management Technology (2019)

Having friends at BIMTECH, I suggest you go for it. It is a better choice than IBS Mumbai. If you are in the 70-90 percentile range, then BIMTECH is actually a very good option for you. Here are some of the reasons as to why –

  • It is really good at BIMTECH with a good mix of professors. The visiting faculty are also very good.
  • The library has lots of good books and journals to follow and is one of the best things about the institute.
  • It focuses a lot on case studies which really enhances the classroom experience.
  • A lot of presentations are also expected from students which will make you overcome your stage fright.
  • Hostels are decent with good quality food in the mess.
  • The college holds a strong brand and reputation among students which attracts a diverse set of students from all across the country.

In regard to placements, BIMTECH is truly superior to IBS Mumbai. The placement highlights for the year 2020 depict the same as well –

Categories

BIMTECH Noida

IBS Mumbai

Percentage of placements

96.59%

95%

Average CTC

INR 8.13 LPA

INR 6.91 LPA

Highest CTC

INR 18 LPA (Domestic)

INR 23 LPA (International)

INR 15 LPA (Domestic)

INR 50.23 LPA (International)

The only drawback for BIMTECH Noida would be its higher fee structure as well as its high fee for the hostels which are also mandatory. Apart from that, there is nothing in which IBS Mumbai actually gets an advantage over BIMTECH Noida. Thus undoubtedly, BIMTECH Noida should be your preferred choice between the two.

Which is better among BIMTECH Noida, XIME Bangalore and IMT Nagpur/Hyderabad in terms of ROI and placements, or should I try again next year?

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : April 18th, 2023

It is advisable not to wait for another year as you can never be sure of the outcome, no matter how much hard work you put in. Instead, work on selecting the right colleges instead, which can predict 60% of where you end up. If you get into a good college, then rest assured, your career has been made.

Now, between the colleges you mentioned, I would suggest IMT Hyderabad, as it is better in terms of placements. The ROI is also relatively okay. However, if you compare it with other colleges in Hyderabad, even if IMT is good, there are better options available.

For example, Ashoka School of Business (ASB Hyderabad), NMIMS or SIBM. ASB is slightly better as they have excellent grooming programs like the 360-degree program and EIR which ensures good training. The college also offers dual specialization and the placements are also great. The overall fee for the college is only around INR 6.9L for two years for the full-time PGDM course.

Which one do you think is better for a PGDM among IMI Bhubaneswar and BIMTECH Noida (insurance)?

AS
Armaan Sayed Posted On : April 26th, 2023
studied at Amity University (2019)

Both are Tier-1 colleges under CMAT but BIMTECH is superior. You're interested in insurance, which is a rare banking sales offering. Few jobs fit this category.

  1. Actuary (CAT profile)
  2. Hardcore insurance field sales
  3. Business development officer/advisor/relationship manager (70–75% sales outdoor, 25–30% office

IMI Bhubaneswar boasts a strong faculty, a Ph.D., and over 25 years of expertise in academics. The teachers here aid with assignments and offer after-school tutoring.

Go with BIMTECH because it has a good name. BIMTECH wins, and they have a track record of finding jobs faster for their Insurance students than for their Core students.
