Is Life at IIM Sirmaur hectic?

Epil Gagrai Posted On : May 9th, 2024

Since it operates from its temporary campus where the hostel facilities are outside the campus for boys, the institute does not promise the same level of rigor one expects from an IIM. The scope of surprise quizzes and assignments and preponement of deadlines is very less because of the lack of necessary facilities provided by the institute. However, on the bright side, this story is expected to change once IIM Sirmaur shifts its operations to the newly built permanent campus.

How is campus life like at LPU ?

S
Shiva Posted On : May 6th, 2024
MCA from LPU, Batch of 2016

I completed my MCA from LPU in 2016. I enjoyed the university’s vibrant and entertaining campus life, which ensures students never feel lonely outside class. The university has 60+ student organizations or clubs, focusing on personal development and excellence in all aspects of life. Each student organization operates in a unique way, allowing students to join clubs that align with their interests and passions.

LPU's campus is lively, with events throughout the year, including extracurricular activities, festivals, live shows, guest speakers, cultural celebrations, sports competitions, and hackathons. The university has around 2,300 experienced and specialized faculty members, contributing to its overall teaching, placements, and infrastructure. LPU has earned affiliations, recognition, and accreditation, establishing itself among the top private universities.

A standard room costs around INR 5k per month, including food and cleaning. In 2011-15, the cost of a shared room was INR 60K to INR 70K per year. Hostelers are not allowed to move to each other’s buildings. Here, students have a strict hostel life.

How does TAPMI encourage students to start entrepreneurship and be innovative compared to other top B-schools?

MJ
Mansi Jain Posted On : April 8th, 2024

Corporate engagement programs are designed to facilitate knowledge sharing, provoke creative thinking, and challenge students' ability to solve problems. The institute recognizes the importance of industry-academia collaboration for regular teaching as well. TAPMI promotes industry experts to design and deliver courses in emerging business trends. In a special partnership, an expert from Deloitte delivered sessions on IT risk management as a part of the Enterprise Risk Management elective, and KPMG designed and delivered a program on Data Analytics. Business leaders from Virtusa delivered an entire two-credit course, “Fintech and the Role of Emerging Technologies in Finance.” The Fifth Digital delivered a Fintech Course to TAPMI students in a workshop mode.

Industry immersion workshops addressing contemporary business trends such as digital adaptation, cybersecurity, social media marketing, and blockchain technology, which are not captured in textbooks, are organized by TAPMI. TAPMI invites industry experts to conduct immersion workshops (4 to 8 hours) to address such gaps. The objective of a program advisory board is to provide input to the academic council and review the curriculum based on industry trends. The advisory board consists of business leaders from various sectors and TAPMI alumni. TAPMI actively engages with the alumni base to seek feedback on curriculum and industry linkages. This engagement happens at multiple levels such as participation in the advisory board, co-delivery of electives, and delivery of workshops and guest lectures.
