Which is better for BTech admissions: VSSUT Burla or KIIT BBSR?
The best way to determine the right choice between VSSUT Burla and KIIT is to go through the pros of both colleges. I have listed some for reference
VSSUT
- VSSUT has an amazing academic ambiance with intense competition among peers.
- It’s a government university so enjoys a good reputation.
- It has a strong alumni base because of its legacy of more than 60 years.
- It’s a challenging environment that prepares you for life challenges when you actually enter the corporate world.
- VSSUT charges INR 91,280 (1st Year Fees) while KIIT charges INR ?3.5 Lakhs (1st Year Fees).
KIIT
- KIIT has a much better campus and infrastructure facilities.
- KIIT offers excellent opportunities for research and other projects.
- It has well-maintained and hygienic hostels.
- KIIT has a higher budget so the fests and other events are organized at a larger scale.

How are the hostel rooms in KIIT?
One of my friends shared her hostel experience at KIIT.
- For girls, there is only one hostel called the Queen's Castle whereas, for boys, there were several hostels named King Palace 1, 2 and so on.
- First year students were assigned 4-seater sharing rooms. The size of the rooms was average and comprised of all basic amenities like individual beds, tables, chairs, and shared cupboards.
- The second-year rooms were bigger and triple-occupancy. Moreover, the students have the chance to choose their own roommates. The rooms and roommates allotted in the second year are permanent for the rest of the years.
Earlier there were no AC rooms but now I have from my friends KIIT hostel rooms are air-conditioned.
Will KIIT refund my 65K (after counselling and taking a seat) If I don't wanna take admission?
Yes, your money will be refunded even after you attended the counseling and took a seat at KIIT. They will cut some amount in the name of normal procedure/registration fee, and refund the rest to you. You’ll receive back at least 50k-55k.
For someone who did not attend the counseling, their rank in the entrance is of no use.
Is it compulsory to live in hostel at KIIT?
No, it is not compulsory to stay in the KIIT hostels. You can stay at some place else too. The mess food of the electronics hostel is not good. This is why some of my batchmates have rented apartments for themselves. They can cook, and they have an easy mode of transport like scooty/bike. Moreover, renting is not an expensive option over here. It is affordable.
How can I get the 1st midterm question paper of KIIT University?
The midterm question paper of KIIT University can be found online as offline.
For the online process, you can connect to KIIT Wi-Fi Net. Go to the official website of the college and click on the ‘Library’ menu. Look for ‘Institutional Repository’ and search for the required subject name.
For the offline process, you can visit the central library at campus 6. You can get the required paper by showing your college ID card.
What is the mess menu at KIIT, Bhubaneswar? How is the food quality?

KIIT (Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneswar) BTech CSE seats:
KIIT is a large engineering university with multiple schools. for BTech CSE specifically:
- KIIT has approximately 1,500-2,000 CSE seats per year across different specializations (CSE, CSE with specializations in AI/ML, Data Science, Cybersecurity etc.)
- these are distributed across multiple batches/schools within KIIT
- admission via KIITEE (KIIT Entrance Examination) or JEE Main score

Which should I join, IT KIIT or CSE, at Amrita?
Joining KIIT will be a better option. The institute gives students the freedom to explore the things that interest them. It’s easy to score good grades with a little bit of effort. So, you will have a lot of time on your hand to explore and learn.
The institute offers good placements. Top MNCs like Microsoft, CodeNation, Amazon, Vmware, Directi, etc. are among the major recruiters that take part in KIIT placement. According to recent placement highlights, students of KIIT received an average CTC of around INR 6.05 LPA.
Which is better, CSE from KIIT or a ECE from IIEST Shibpur?
Both colleges have their pros and cons. KIIT is a private college with a beautiful infrastructure whereas, IIEST is the oldest government college for engineering in India with average infrastructure. KIIT has a NIRF ranking of 24 while IIEST stands at the position of 21 among Engineering colleges.
Admissions:
KIIT:
Students are admitted on the basis ofKIITEE and thosewith 300-350 marks under 4000 rank secure a seat. To be eligible, a student must have 60% in the board exams.However, if a student does not get CSE for their admission, they can choose another branch and score more than 8.5 CGPA to transfer into CSE after the first year.
IIEST Shibpur:
- A student gets admission based on the rank secured in JEE Main and then goes through JoSAA Counselling & CSAB Special Board.
- Campus wise, the rank cutoff for ECE in the Shibpur campus is till 9219. To be eligible, a student must have 10+2 with at least 45% (for general candidates) and with 30% marks in English.
Fees:
- The feefor CSE in KIIT is 4 times to the ECE of IIEST Shibpur.
- The one-year fees for a BTech student are 4 lacs/annum in KIIT and 1.5 lacs/annum in IIEST Shibpur.
- Students in KIIT get a scholarship of 10k in each semester if they are amongst the top three students of their branch.
Placements:
KIIT:
- KIIT offers placements depending upon your GPA, fluent English, and logical skills. If a student has more than 9 GPA and the above-mentioned skills, he/she secures a job with a minimum package of 5-8 LPA.
- In KIIT, over 195 recruiters offered jobs. The total number of offers was 4379, and 3156 got placed.
- Some of the top recruiters were Cognizant, Accenture, Colfax, and the highest package offered was 30 LPA.
IIEST SHIBPUR:
- The placement rates in IIEST Shibpur have shown a significant increase every year. 85.7% in 2017, 81.82% in 2018, and 72% in 2019.
- The total number of companies visited the campus was90. Some of them are Amazon, CoalIndia, Sankalp Semiconductors, etc.
- These companies made 462 offers, out of which 311 students got placed. The highest package to date is 39.12 LPA.
The comparison lies that IIEST Shibpur has a good value for money than KIIT. Although not many companies approach IIEST Shibpur in comparison to KIIT there stands a higher chance to get away with the highest package on skills and knowledge. Also, getting in is not as easy as JEE mains scoreshould be very high. But overall, IIEST Shibpur stands in a good place.
Which one would you choose for studying law: UPES, Dehradun or KIIT, Bhubaneshwar? Why would you choose it?
You should choose KIIT Bhubaneswar for studying Law. It is older and more reputed. On an overall scale, it is better than UPES, Dehradun. Placement will depend on your interest. For Judiciary careers, KIIT Bhubaneswar offers more exposure and opportunities. Few law firms also take part in campus placements. The highest CTC offered in KIIT Bhubaneswar placements is around INR 7 LPA. UPES offers better opportunities in corporate law.
