What is the total MBBS course fees in KMC, Manipal?
For the batch of 2023-24, the first installment is Rs.17.80 Lakhs. The remaining installments add up to Rs. 70,88,500. This includes tuition and other fees.
So, for your medical degree, you’ll be paying around Rs. 88,68,500. This is for Indian students. You will be paying the fees in 5 installments. You’ll also be paying a caution deposit of Rs.10,000 (refundable). For girls’ hostels, the cost is Rs. 1,30,500 per year, and for boys’ hostels, it is Rs. 1,25,500 per year.
This is the total MBBS course fee at KMC Manipal.
What do I do to crack the NIMHANS entrance exam for a post-graduation in neurosurgery?
NIMHANS conducts an online MCQ based entrance test for Mch/DM Neurology and MD Psychiatry. A common exam is held for all these courses, and later on, a separate merit list is published for each. You have to select your course while applying, and can’t change it later on. You can apply for all three courses or one/two of them.
Here is some information on the entrance exam:
- It is a one-hour test with 150 MCQs.
- 1 mark is awarded for each correct answer, and ¼ mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
- 90-100 questions are asked from 19 MBBS subjects. These questions are not related to CNS. With good preparation for other PGMEE, you can answer them.
- Regular one-liner guidebook questions are asked.
- 50-60 MCQs are directly/indirectly related to CNS. For these, read the neuro aspect of all major subjects- Anatomy, Physio, Medicine, Psychiatry, Surgery, Patho, Micro, Pharma, Radio, and Anaesthesia. These questions are solvable given that you prepare well in the last 10-15 days before the exam.
The entrance is overall easy. However, the number of seats is very low, so the margin of error for silly mistakes is very low.
Read all subjects before the last 10 days. Then, focus on the Neurology part in the last 10 days. By following these tips, you’ll successfully crack the NIMHANS entrance test.
How are the Computer Science placements at THAPAR UNIVERSITY?

Which way is better, to do an MS general surgery and then take up neurosurgery as a superspeciality, or the direct 6yrs (Mch) Neurosurgery course (offered by AIIMS and NIMHANS) after an MBBS?
I’ll be sharing with you my opinion on both.
As a 6-year MCh candidate, you’ll rotate through 10 months of general surgery. However, general surgery skills aren’t of much use in Neurosurgery, except the very basic knot-tying and suturing skills. You can also acquire those from dedicated lab practice. The other techniques followed in Neurosurgery are very different from those followed in general surgery.
Neurosurgeons generally use access surgeons (thoracic surgeons or urologists) to perform unconventional approaches to the spine. It is much safer for the patient. Also, opting for a 6-year course after MBBS means one less entrance exam.
So it isn’t very beneficial for you to take up 3 years of MS general surgery. I would recommend you choose the direct 6 year Mh Neurosurgery course at AIIMS or NIMHANS instead.
How is the IPM program at IIM Rohtak?
IIM Rohtak has been ranked at an impressive 12th rank in NIRF 2023 rankings. People have doubts about joining IIM Rohtak as it stands below the top IIMs. However, IIM Rohtak is rapidly growing and achieving new heights and you should not worry about choosing IIM Rohtak for your studies.
The IPM is a 5-year integrated management program at IIM Rohtak. On completion of this program, you will receive a BBA+MBA degree. If you attain a 5.0 CGPA in your first three years, then only will you be eligible to continue for the next two years for your MBA. Otherwise, you will exit the program with a BBA degree with a CGPA not below 4.0.
Even if you wish to exit the course after 3 years, you can do so by informing the office within the stipulated time in the third year of the course. Instead of joining another institution for your BBA and then trying for IIM A/B/C through your CAT, you should join the IPM program at IIM Rohtak. Even if you do not score as much in your CAT, you will have the backup plan of completing your MBA from IIM Rohtak (in this case you will get a single CAT attempt in November third year). Most students from the IPM program at IIM Rohtak give their CAT or GMAT in the third year. So if you wish to switch to another higher-ranking IIM or go for a foreign MBA, you can do so.
The IIM Rohtak campus offers all the facilities to its students and you will also enjoy life at Rohtak in general. Rohtak is only 70 km away from Delhi so the international airport is only an hour or two’s drive from the IIM Rohtak campus.
The cost for the course is around INR 36 Lakhs, which is on the expensive side. However, you also get to stay at IIM for 5 years and learn from some of the best teachers in India.
You can consider the fee structure, placements, and other aspects before joining the program. However, if you do make up your mind, the IPM course at IIM Rohtak is a good choice.
Is IPM IIM Rohtak worth it?
IIM Rohtak is a very newly established IIM that has yet to make its place in the IIM family. Because of its recent establishment people deem it not worthy of the IIM tag. But in reality, it’s gradually picking up pace and by the time its first batch will graduate (2024), it will have climbed the ladder higher.
People think the IPM program offered by IIM Rohtak is a backdoor for people who want to escape the CAT exam. In reality, most of the students plan to give CAT or GMAT or both at the end of their third year.
Even if one compares Rohtak and Indore, we can clearly see that Rohtak is way ahead of Indore. The first batch placements of Rohtak are better than Indore.
Some consider the lack of connectivity and cost also a reason why Rohtak is not worth it. But let me shed some light on this matter. Rohtak is just 70 km away from Delhi. The International airport is just an hour or two 's drive from the campus. So the connectivity issue is resolved here. As far as the cost is considered, one should not underestimate the 5 years he will be spending at an IIM campus with top-notch facilities and the most learned faculty and brilliant peers. All the investment is worth it. The final decision is yours to make but does remember that IIM Rohtak will have climbed the ladder in just a few years.
Which course is better: B. Commerce Hons or BA Economics Hons from DU?
The answer to this question will rely on your future goals, what you compassionately dream of doing, and what you believe you will truly like. However, Economics Honors from DU is one of the best courses with exceptional scope and value in the corporate world. Everyone is aware that the University of Delhi's most prestigious course is Economics Hons. Rapidly rising cutoffs provide proof of this.
Additionally, compared to other courses, it offers higher placement prospects. Nevertheless, immense power entails great responsibility. It's not the kind of subject you can get by with just one night of studying. It necessitates commitment and diligence. Additionally, it is the most challenging course the university offers. So, BA Economics is the best option for anyone who is keenly interested in the subject.
BA Economics(Hons) is DU's most difficult yet prestigious course. As a result, if you are in the unreserved category, you will need a higher percentage. Try to get a score of 90% or higher to get into DU, and 95% or higher to get into DU's good colleges. In the end, it all comes down to your score.
Getting CSE at Thapar University as well as Jaypee Noida (JIIT) , which college should I choose?
Had you asked this question 4-5 years ago, the common answer would have been Thapar University. However, things have changed a lot in the last few years. Here are some reasons why I would suggest you to go for JIIT Noida for your B.Tech CSE-
- The crowd quality at Thapar University has gone down drastically. The reasons behind this are a 50% quota for Punjab students and the enormous increase in the number of seats. Both these actions have resulted in very low cut offs. The cutoff rank for Punjab students in JEE Mains is 1.5 Lakh+ for CSE department. The closing rank of JIIT Noida for the same is around 51 K+. Thus, the crowd is better in JIIT Noida as compared to Thapar.
- The batch size at Thapar University is much bigger than JIIT N. Thapar University has a batch size of 1200+ students for Computers while JIIT Noida has a batch size of only 250+ students. A smaller batch size means more placement opportunities and better attention towards the learning of each student.
- Location-wise, NCR offers more opportunities than Patiala. You will get numerous opportunities in NCR like trade shows, conferences, training, better placements, etc. Gurgaon and Noida are the new IT Hubs, second only to Bangalore and at par with Hyderabad and Pune. As a CSE student, you should prefer Noida over Patiala.
- Though Thapar University has a bigger campus of 250 acres, your life will mostly revolve around your classrooms, nearby areas and your hostel. Thus, the smaller campus of JIIT N should not be that big an obstacle.
- The average package for B.Tech CSE is around INR 13.28 LPA at JIIT Noida, which is better than Thapar University in which the average package for the UG stream stands at around INR 10.97 LPA. Studying at JIIT Noida is also around 30-40% cheaper than Thapar.
Thus, at present, CSE from JIIT Noida is a much better choice.
What is the importance of a CGPA for a B.Tech (CSE) student to get a good campus placement at Nit Warangal?
I have said this many times and will say it again, one should never underestimate the value a CGPA holds in shaping your career. Don’t fall for the trap ‘Grades don’t Matter’ because they do and to a great extent. This can be further understood through the following anecdote that revolves around two of my closest friends.
Both of them were CSE students at NIT Rourkela. Both were regular in their classes and completed their assignments on time. However, by the end of the 3rd year, one friend scored a CGPA of 6.90 while the other ended up getting a 7.05 CGPA .
During the placements, most top companies like Microsoft, Uber, De-shaw, Arcesium, Visa, and Samsung set their cutoffs to 7 CGPA. Students who did not qualify for this weren’t eligible to sit for their placements. The friend with the higher CGPA appeared in the interview for several companies and ended up with a good role and package while the other friend with slightly less but below 7 CGP could not even sit for their placements. Eventually, he got placed in an average company with a low package.
The core lesson from this anecdote is that CGPA matters a lot during placements, especially for the best companies. Hope my answer clarified the importance of a CGPA for a BTech in CSE student at NIT Warangal.
Is it good to attend the IIIT Hyderabad's artificial intelligence and machine learning certification program? The course duration is 15 months and the cost is 1.5 to 2 lakhs.?
It may not be a good idea to attend IIIT Hyderabad's artificial intelligence and machine learning certification program. A friend of mine enrolled in this program. According to him, very few classes are taken by IIIT Hyderabad professors.
The teaching methodology used is old school. If you ask a doubt, you will be given a rhetorical answer most of the time.
There are teaching assistants who are responsible for taking daily tests and lab sessions. But most of them, don’t have much idea about the subject matter. You can get many good PGP courses online in the same fee range.
