Yes, LPU charges an exam fee each semester, which is not included in the programme fee. LPU charges an examination fee of INR 4500 per semester. This fee is payable along with the programme fee for next semester (or before).

You must note that the programme fee for next semester is payable before the end of teaching for the current semester. So basically, the sem 1 exam fee is payable before the end of teaching for that semester, along with the programme fee for sem 2.

I am a second year MSc. Hotel Management student at Lovely Professional University.

LPU offers a 2-year M.Sc. in hotel management at the PG level. Aspirants must meet the entry requirement for admission to this program. The entry requirement for this course is that candidates must pass their graduation with 50% marks. 

Every year, around 80% of the students get placed at LPU. The highest salary package offered to M.Sc. • The candidates must pass their Master’s Degree with 55% aggregate marks (or equivalent grades prescribed by the university) in the relevant field. 
• The Master’s degree must be of 2 year duration after a 3-year Bachelor’s Degree.
• They must qualify the LPUNEST exam along with the interview.
• Those students who have done a 1-year/2-semester Master's degree program with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks after completing a 4 year Bachelor’s Degree are also eligible for admission.

The final selection for PhD admission is based on the performance of a candidate in the entrance test (70% weightage) and interview (30% weightage).

Thus, only PG degree holders are eligible for admission into the Phd. program at LPU. But I would suggest that you call the admissions office to enquire if in any case you can seek admission into Phd. at LPU as a PG diploma holder.
