Does IIT Delhi give CPI or aggregate in MBA/PGDM at the end?

S
SpectralShrimp Posted On : March 24th, 2026

Yes, IIT Delhi provides a CPI for the MBA/PGDM program instead of a simple aggregate. This system is quite effective because it reflects our performance across different evaluations, like major and minor exams, along with quizzes and presentations. I appreciate how this structure keeps us on our toes throughout the semester.

The rigorous academic environment here, combined with the faculty's guidance, really pushes us to excel and gain a good understanding of business management principles.

What is the total approx fees of IIT Delhi for B.Tech Engineering Physics??

W
WanderingPhantom Posted On : March 24th, 2026

This was the Semester 1 breakdown of fees for UG students who took admission in 2023–24:

While the above includes adjustments for JOSAA counseling fees and some one-time security deposits, it excludes mess charges. The breakdown for the second semester was as follows (General/OBC with Annual Family income > ? 5 Lakh):

  • ? 1,05,750/- for Tuition & Exams
  • ? 26,800/- for Mess
  • ? 13,250/- for Hostel accommodation

This brings the grand total to ? 1,45,800/-.

Here are some more details from the prospectus to clarify:

The biggest chunk of fees is, of course, the tuition fee (as visible above).

(I don’t even know what the Student Distress Fund Scheme is or that it even exists.)

Apart from this, there are multiple scholarship opportunities that arise once you are in IIT Delhi, a topic that deserves a separate post.

What is the cutoff rank for MBA/PGDM at IIT Delhi?

T
TerraMidnight Posted On : March 24th, 2026

Hi! Thanks for the A2A. First, almost all the IITs give significant preference to profiles.

  • IIT B gives calls in the late 98. range, but if you have an outstanding profile, you might receive a call from 97.9 to 98.50.
  • IIT D places a lot of weight on work experience. The cutoff may go as high as 96.8 and above.
  • IIT Kgp also values work experience heavily. The minimum percentile to apply is 90%ile, but a strong profile is essential to get a call.
  • IIT M is profile-based as well and gives weight to academics, starting from 95..
  • IIT K and R can be accessed at 92..

Good luck!!

Is doing B.Tech Textile Technology from IIT Delhi any good?

S
StarlightJewel Posted On : March 23rd, 2026

This answer is in the Indian context: Having researched the Indian engineering education system for the last 10 years, I can provide an accurate answer to this question.

Answer: YES. It’s better to join any engineering branch at a Tier-1 Indian engineering college than to choose a popular engineering branch at a non-Tier-1 college.

  • Due to IIT Delhi's strong reputation in the industry, graduates from IITs tend to secure higher-paying jobs.
  • There’s really no such thing as Textile Engineering in 2022; these so-called engineering degrees should not be promoted in India.
  • Also, NO IIT graduate gets a 2 crore package.

What happens to all the IITians who join companies like Google, Microsoft, and Facebook with INR 2 crore salaries? Why don’t we hear from them after recruitment?

Having worked in the industry and researched the Indian engineering landscape, I can confidently say: many get fired after just a few months, often abruptly. Since being unemployed is seen as a taboo in India, these unemployed IITians rarely disclose their current status publicly.

What is the total cost for B.Tech Material Science Engineering in IIT Delhi??

W
WhisperingMarquee Posted On : March 23rd, 2026

I can share the current fee structure at IIT Delhi. Tuition fees at other IITs may vary by around 20% and mess fees by 50% compared to IIT Delhi.

Total expenses (excluding pocket money, of course) depend on your parents' annual income and your category.

  • 1. If you belong to the general or OBC category and your parents' annual income is greater than 5L per annum, you will pay around 105k per semester as tuition fee and 15k as mess fee. So, total expenses are around 240k per year.
  • 2. If you belong to the general or OBC category, but your parents' income is less than 5L per annum and your CGPA and last semester's SGPA are greater than 6.0 (which are quite easy to achieve), your tuition fee will be refunded. In this case, you will only need to pay the mess fee (15k per semester), totaling just 30k per year.
  • 3. If you belong to SC/ST, both your tuition fee and mess fee are waived, meaning you don't have to pay anything!

Additionally, there are various donor scholarships available for students.

What is the total cost for B.Tech Electrical Engineering in IIT Delhi??

ConstellationChuckles Posted On : March 23rd, 2026

So, I recently got into the B.Tech Electrical Engineering program at IIT Delhi, and honestly, the fees are a bit shocking. While I don't have the exact figures, I know that the fees are a significant amount, likely nearing ?2-3 lakhs annually. After paying the ?40,000 for the JOSAA counselling, it feels like a lot for a college that’s supposed to be public. It's definitely something to consider if you're planning to join!

Honestly, pursuing a B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering from IIT Delhi has been an amazing journey for me. The course is designed to prepare us for real-world applications, and the faculty are really supportive. We have regular quizzes and assignments, which keeps us on our toes! The internships are fantastic—many of my friends got offers from big names like Samsung and Google. The fee is quite steep, but considering the opportunities, it's worth it. Despite the current placement challenges due to the recession, the IIT tag opens many doors. Plus, the campus is vibrant with lots of activities and friendly faculty. If you’re passionate about tech, this is definitely the place to be!

Doing a B.Tech in Material Science Engineering from IIT Delhi is absolutely worth it! I've been here for a couple of years, and the curriculum is quite interesting. We get to dive into different phases and properties of materials, and there’s a good mix of DFT and machine learning models. The placement stats are impressive, with around 80% of students getting placed. Big names like Google, Amazon, and TCS come to recruit us, and the average package for 2022-2023 was around 20 LPA, which is solid. Plus, there's a great campus life with lots of clubs and activities that help you grow as a person.
