Which is the better option, HBTU electronic engineering or IET Lucknow ECE?
Choosing a particular college or a department actually depends on you, and how you want to shape your career ahead. Having known some people who study in both these institutions, I can say that they all have their fair share of strengths and weaknesses.
I might not be able to help you select one among them, because they are both good in their own ways. So, I will share some information about them which might help you make the choice.
- ECE at IET Lucknow has one of the finest faculty. They also have a great student crowd.
- HBTU also has highly experienced faculty members.
- Placements at HBTU are also much better than IET Lucknow.
- The enrolled candidates of the GATE exam are really great.
- They also offer a vast alumni network unlike IET.

It is suggested that you go for the more experienced institute, as it will prove to be better for your career ahead. You will get to learn new skills and take part in seminars and industry visits, to get a slice of the corporate world.
Which should I choose, the IIT Guwahati M and C or BITS Pilani CSE?
BITS Pilani has the upper hand in almost every aspect. Being older than IIT Guwahati, it enjoys a better reputation both inside and outside India. Moreover, BITS Pilani CS placements are better than IIT Guwahati MnC placements.
Curriculum: IIT Guwahati MnC curriculum is poorly designed. It’s a mixture of Maths, Computer Science, and Finance making you the Jack of all trades but master of none. The syllabus of IIT Guwahati is not updated while BITS follows the updated syllabus of the world-famous university, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Electives: BITS Pilani offers a wide range of electives to choose from. You can even take up many electives in a specific field and get a minor degree in the same. IIT Guwahati on the other hand has minor electives only in the final year with only 2 open electives. Moreover, MnC students are not allowed to take minor courses in computer science due to some common courses.
Hostel: The BITS Pilani CSE students get excellent accommodation facilities at Gandhi Bhawan. Thus hostel provides double occupancy ik the first year and single occupancy in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years. The washrooms are similar to washrooms in hotels and the overall facilities are top-notch.
It’s important to note that my answer was specifically talking about the Pilani campus as my knowledge is limited to the same. So, I will suggest you to go for BITS Pilani over IIT Guwahati any day.
Which should I prefer, IIIT Kalyani, IIIT Naya Raipur, IIIT Bhopal, or IIIT Surat for CSE?
If you are considering pursuing higher education at IIIT Naya Raipur, it's important to evaluate the placement opportunities and other factors to ensure it aligns with your career goals. Here are some points to consider:
- Placement opportunities: IIIT Naya Raipur has decent placement opportunities, but it's important to note that most of the high-paying placements are outside India. While earning 30 LPA in a developed country may seem attractive, it's important to understand that the cost of living and other factors may offset the high salary. Additionally, these placements may be on a temporary basis, meaning you may have to look for a new job once the project is complete.
- Private college vs NIT: IIIT Naya Raipur is a private college, which means it may not have the same level of resources and opportunities as a national institute like NIT. NITs are well-established institutes with a strong reputation and better infrastructure, which can provide you with a better learning experience and more opportunities.
- State government focus: Chhattisgarh lacks strong infrastructure and government support for innovation and startups. The government's focus is more on providing basic necessities to the people and votes banks. Therefore, apart from campus placements, it may be challenging to find opportunities in the state.
In conclusion, while IIIT Naya Raipur may offer decent placement opportunities, it's important to evaluate other factors such as infrastructure, government support for innovation, and reputation before making a decision. Considering a national institute like NIT may be a better option for a more comprehensive learning experience and better opportunities.
Why are Delhi School of Economics and other better ROI colleges (like JBIMS and many more) for an MBA not as popular as FMS?
I have a friend who completed his MBA from the Delhi School of Economics. This answer is based on his opinions about why colleges with better ROI like DSE and JBIMS fail to compete with FMS. He has listed a few reasons for the lack of popularity of such B-schools:
- Establishment: DSE MBA first began in 1986 whereas FMS was established in 1954. So the course and the institute are the oldest in the FMS case.
- Alumni: Being an older Institute, FMS has a much stronger alumni network that has built a certain level of credibility in the corporate world. This criterion is missing in the case of DSE.
- Courses offered: Until 2015, DSE offered courses like Master of Organization Development and Human Resources and Master of International Business instead of MBA. Firstly these specializations are not at par with Finance and Marketing. Secondly, MBA has more value than MHROD and MHIB.
- Industrial relations: FMS is much more exposed to the industry and has excellent relations with the corporate world owing to a large number of its alumni.
- Faculty: The faculty is almost similar as both DSE and FMS operate under DU. But the shortcomings are compensated for at FMS via the compulsory guest lectures by industry experts.
- Crowd: The extremely high cutoff ensures only the most talented people enter FMS thereby increasing the quality of education and peer learning experience at FMS. This aspect too is pretty weak in the case of DSE.
It is because of these strong factors that B Schools like JBIMS fail to match the level of popularity enjoyed by FMS.
Why are Delhi School of Economics and other better ROI colleges like JBIMS and many more for an MBA not as popular as FMS?
Here are some of the reasons that should be mentioned:
- DSE MBA was founded in 1986, whereas FMS was founded in 1954.
- An older institute has more alumni to leverage for placements and thus more alumni to build credibility in the institute branding.
- Until 2015, DSE offered a "Master" degree in HR/OD and IB, titled Master of Organization Development and Human Resources and Master of International Business. Two things stand out: i) HR/OD and IB are niche areas to enter in comparison to an MBA-Fin and MBA-Marketing. ii) A MHROD/MIB has lower popularity than an MBA.
- FMS has significantly more industry exposure than DSE, owing primarily to alumni/family of alumni/friends of alumni.
- Quality of Faculty: Though both FMS and DSE are run by DU, what DU lacks in academic-focused faculty is more than made up for in FMS, which has regular mandatory industry guest lecturers.
- The higher cut-off in FMS (relative to DSE) year after year ensures (though is not guaranteed) a certain quality benchmark of students coming in, leading to increased competition and peer learning. Something DSE could think about.
Which one has a better fresher placement in MBA finance, JBIMS in Mumbai or FMS in Delhi?
FMS Delhi Placements 2023 has been concluded. A total of 269 students participated. FMS Delhi's highest package stood at INR 1.23 CPA whereas the average package stood at INR 34.1 LPA and the median package stood at INR 31 LPA. 97% of offers were made above INR 20 LPA. A total of 27% of students were placed in the Consulting Sector and there was a 19% Increase in the number of students placed in the BFSI Sector as compared to the last year.
JBIMS Mumbai is one of the most prestigious B-Schools in India. The institute has recently concluded its 2022 placement drive. The average salary increased by more than 20% as compared to the last year which stood at INR 27.63 LPA in 2022 whereas the median CTC stood at INR 26.48 LPA and the highest salary stood at INR 42 LPA. Consulting companies played the dominating role during the placement drive. Major recruiters included Deloitte, EY, PwC, Accenture, Infosys, KPMG, and many more.
There is no relevant data to tell us about Freshers' data, but both offer great placements regardless. Whichever location suits you; you can go there. However, FMS Delhi is the best according to me.
Is there any reservation for home state candidates for XLRI and is there any preference for girls in XLRI?
To get into XLRI, one has to make it to their merit list. You are wrong to believe that one has to secure a sort of special preference just because they are a "home candidate" in particular.
XLRI neither is under any such compulsion nor does it reserve any seats for any candidate like that. As a matter of fact, no institute does that. Just like the boys, the girls who are admitted at XLRI too possess the apt skills and smartness it takes to reach there. Whatever is taught to girls is similar to what is taught to the boys too. Believing in a misconception like that should be corrected right away.
To conclude, all I would like to say is that be it XLRI or any other institute- not even a single one of them in today's time cares about gender preference. If you are smart, you would be welcomed and respected everywhere.
How good are the placements in Anna University for M.Tech students in biotechnology?
The placement opportunities for M.Tech students in biotechnology at Anna University are very rare. My friend is a student of Anna University currently pursuing M. tech in biotechnology. She told me that the reality is different once you get into college. No doubt the teachers and curriculum are top notch, but the sole focus throughout the entire first year is studies. There are no practicals at all. Rather it looks like studying the core subjects of B.Tech with higher level education.
The second year has both minor and major projects. Once you are done with the projects you have to do the job seeking alone. There are no placements. Sometimes your mentor can offer you a decent package that will give you sufficient industrial exposure. After this you can apply for high-paying jobs also.
Should I go for chemical engineering at Heritage Institute of Technology or CSE at Techno India, Salt Lake ?
Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT) is a very popular engineering institute and if you are interested in pursuing Chemical engineering then you should definitely take admission in this college.
- The competition is much less for chemical engineering students and a lot of facilities are available for them.
- There are a lot of placement opportunities available for students and they can easily get a job in both core and IT companies.
- Many students are getting PSU through GATE and some core companies such as BOC, PCBL, Paharpur Cooling towers, Voith Papers, etc. visit the campus for interviews.
- But if you are interested in technology and coding then you should probably choose Techno India as this college provides very good opportunities to CSE students.
- The placements available are very good and top companies such as TCS, Infosys, CTS etc visit the college for interviews.
- The college provides very good facilities and support to teach you coding and if you are really interested in it, then you will be able to master it with your patience and hard work.
- And your coding skills are not determined by your college or branch.
- You should be really passionate about it to be successful in this field.

Hence, both the colleges are very good with excellent placements and academics and it completely depends on your interests in which branch you would like to study and build your career.
Which one should I opt for: PGDCM from IIM Calcutta or PGPM from IIM Lucknow?
If we compare PGDCM and PGDM at IIM Calcutta, we see that both the courses have the same networking, placements and even infrastructure.
Now if you compare both the IIMs, IIMC and IIML, there is hardly any difference in the curriculum or even placements. So deciding which IIM to go for depends on your own preferences.
But if you are planning to quit IT then I suggest going for the full-fledged MBA course from IIM Lucknow rather than a system at IIM Calcutta.
IIM Lucknow will offer excellent exposure and placements and you will end up getting an above average salary package for consulting.
