Both MNNIT Allahabad and BIT Mesra are highly ranked technology colleges offering amazing placement opportunities to their students. NIRF and India Today ranked BIT Mesra at 38 and 2 respectively for its B.Tech course, whereas MNNIT was ranked at 48 for B.Tech in India 2020 by NIRF and 14 by India Today.

MNNIT’s last year placement ranking has seen a rise in the pay packages and the best placement record of almost 97%. BIT Mesra on the other hand holds a stellar placement record since its inception. But while selecting between IT at MNNIT Allahabad or CS at BIT Mesra one needs to consider certain facts which are discussed below.

Placement Opportunities:

MNNIT Allahabad –

• Almost 285 companies visited MNNIT for campus recruitments including top-tier companies such as Adobe, Accenture, Deloitte, Dell, BPCL, etc.

• 792 students out of 1174 were successfully placed in some of the top companies with the highest package offered in 2019 being INR 36 Lakhs (Per Annum) and the average package offered was 7.82 Lakhs (Per Annum).

• The median salary offered to the students was recorded to be 8 LPA.

BIT Mesra –

• BIT Mesra is renowned for the amazing placement opportunities that it has in store for the students. Some of the top recruiter companies visiting there campus are Wipro, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, etc.

• In the year 2019, 120 companies participated in the campus recruitment and offered jobs to 831 students. The highest package offered was INR 49.76 Lakhs (Per Annum), whereas the average salary offered was INR 11.76 Lakhs (Per Annum).

• Whereas, the median salary was 8 LPA.

Both MNNIT Allahabad as well as BIT Mesra have seen a considerable increase in their placement opportunities for almost all courses. It depends more on the student’s interest and feasibility to choose between Information Technology at MNNIT Allahabad or Computer Science Engineering at BIT Mesra.

IIIT Hyderabad is considered to be one of the best colleges in the country to pursue computer science and engineering due to the excellent consistency it has obtained with the placement rate and the strong conceptual foundation offered to the students along with an intensive hands-on experience in designing and building prototypes. The college is mostly renowned for the highly consistent placement rate of the CSE branch which is mostly over 90%, and a 100% placement rate of CSE branch was recorded during the 2018-19 academic session with the highest CTC of 46 LPA. Whereas, the median and average CTC offered was respectively, 20 LPA and 8 LPA. The major recruiters were Microsoft, Amazon, Nvidia, VMware, Walmart, etc.

IIT Madras which has been ranked as the no. 1 engineering college in India many times by NIRF has got some of the most prestigious and dedicated faculty members. They impart in-depth practical and theoretical knowledge through an extensive curriculum that makes the students ready for industry. The college had a 86% placement rate for electrical engineering in the session 2018-19, while the average salary package offered was 12.4 LPA. Top recruiters offering roles of analyst, software engineer, hardware engineer, power engineer are Intel, Goldman Sachs, Adobe, ISRO, American Express, and many more.

Both the courses are vastly different from each other and both institutions are the premier institutions of the country, and it would not do justice to pick one over the other. So choose the institute based on your choice of branch.

Students are advised to opt for new IIITs and old NITs. Any of these would suffice. Students are advised to choose old NITs except the following as they are not good enough with the rankings or with the placements -

1. NIT Durgapur,
2. NIT Hamirpur,
3. NIT Srinagar, and
4. NIT Agartala.

Any of the institutes, that a student applies to, are good for CSE provided they have a good and knowledgeable faculty as well. Yet, opting for an old NIT would be considered a good decision since nothing can be stated with certainty about the others.

NIT Jalandhar is regarded as an Institute of national importance. It offers courses in the fields of management and engineering. IIITDM Jabalpur has been approved by UGC and the Ministry of Human Resource Development. It offers courses in engineering and design.

Course:

NIT Jalandhar and IIITDM Jabalpur offers BTech programs for IT and CSE.

• IT course at NIT Jalandhar is a relatively new course and touches upon all aspects of information technology. It is very close to Computer Science but extends beyond that to other applications of IT as well.

• The CSE course at IIITDM Jabalpur is a very famous course. It mainly focuses on computers and their applications as well as new and emerging technologies in this field.

Admissions:

• Admission at NIT Jalandhar requires the students to give JEE Mains and Advanced and secure an above average rank. The cutoffs are decided after the declaration of the result.

• For admission at IIITDM Jabalpur, students are required to score at least 50% in their 10+2 board examinations as well as appear for JEE. Admission is completely based on merit.

Placements:

NIT Jalandhar-

Every year, NIT Jalandhar offers several placement opportunities.

• Some notable companies include Hero Motocorp, Amazon, Cognizant, etc.

• The placement figures are relatively high with over 582 students placed in 2017-18 with a mean salary of 6.6 LPA.

• In 2018-19, around 561 students were placed with a mean salary of 6.0 LPA.

IIITD-

• It has great placement numbers as well with the highest salary figure going up to 37 LPA almost every year.

• A total of 126 students were placed in many notable companies like Canon, Oracle, IBM, Coviam, Infosys, etc.

Thus both these colleges are excellent in terms of education and placements. Students need to be careful of their JEE rank as both these colleges expect high scores from their prospective applicants. As for which institute will be better for you, you should be the one to decide that.

UIET Chandigarh has been ranked 54th among the private engineering colleges by NIRF ranking. The institute is best for CSE/IT as it maintains a placement record of 80% every year. The institute is one of the top 30 finest engineering institutes of the country.

IIIT Bhubaneswar ranks 201 among the IIITs in India as per NIRF ranking 2020. The institute promises to create technology leaders tomorrow by assuring them with 100% placement records every year.

Admission Process

UIET Chandigarh:-

• The admission is based on the valid score of 75% marks in 10+2 with physics, chemistry, and mathematics.
• The candidates must have a valid score in JEE Main. 

IIIT Bhubaneswar:-

• The minimum marks required is 60% marks in 10+2. 
• The candidate must have a valid JEE Main score.

Placements:-

Many companies visit both these colleges and offer dream jobs to the students. The placement department of both the colleges work rigorously to get as many companies as possible. IIIT Bhubaneswar offered 95% placement in the engineering department. Amazon offered the highest package of INR 31 LPA to two of the students of UIET Chandigarh.

The top recruiters are Amazon, Cognizant, Accenture, IBM, Samsung, L&T Infotech, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, Paytm, Mindtree, Dell, TCS, etc.

Both these colleges provide a better scope with good placements. It is upon the students which college they would like to opt among these two. However, IT from IIIT Bhubaneswar is preferred than CSE/IT from UIET Chandigarh.

SRM, Sonepat, and MMU, Mullana is UGC and AICTE approved private institutions of India. Both MMU and SRM have been graded ‘A’ by NAAC. MMU is also ranked 101st by NIRF. The institutes have features that are unique to them and their engineering programs, especially CSE, are quite popular and in demand.

Admission:

The admission to the BTech CSE program at SRM, Sonepat, and MMU, Mullana is as follows.

Infrastructure and Facilities:

SRM: The campus equips students with a number of facilities such as a central library and multiple institutional libraries, computer R&D or project labs, indoor and outdoor sports, and an auditorium with a 1000-people accommodating capacity.

MMU: Facilities offered include a library with 9500+ resources and library management software, mess, a well-equipped gymnasium, healthcare, 15 hostels, etc.

Scholarships:

SRM: The SRM Scholar Search Program helps meritorious and disadvantaged students finance their education at SRM University.

MMU: Merit scholarships, COVID-19 Warrior Scholarship Scheme, Girl Child Scholarships, and MMIS Mullana Alumni Scholarship Scheme are offered by the university.

Placement Statistics:

Top job positions for CS graduates at both these institutes include Software Engineers, Application Developer, Network Engineer, CAD Engineer, etc.

SRM:

• The highest and average package offered to CSE graduates was INR 12.5 LPA and INR 4.5 LPA, respectively.

• 500+ companies such as Google, HSBC, Microsoft, Philips, Capgemini, Federal Bank, Hyundai, Hitachi, KPMG, etc, recruit SRM graduates.

MMU:

• 87% of students were placed in 87+ recruiting companies such as Infosys, Snapdeal, Godrej, Vodafone, Amazon, Indian Army, DLF, L&T, Yamaha, Deloitte, Airtel, Pepsico, etc.

• The highest package offered during the placement drive was INR 18 LPA.
