Considering the table above, and also as a student of IIM Ranchi, I feel you should- without a speck of doubt go for IIM Ranchi as it is evident that the placements here are brilliant.

  • This is spoken in comparison with the 6 new IIMs.
  • The figures here are at an optimum rate when compared to XIMB.
  • Other than that, things depend upon your preference aspects which may include factors like- brands that the campus visits, location, B-School competition, etc.
  • Do some prior research on your own on these aspects of yours and along with that, check the placement reports too for better clarity.

After converting, there will be no chance of you losing in any field of life as you would excel at everything you would do ahead in life. So, having said that, all the best. Do well.

How good are XIMB, Tapmi, and GIM?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : May 27th, 2023

In terms of ranking and brand value: XIMB> Tapmi> GIM

XIMB has been achieving stellar growth year after year and is associated with the Xavier group.

Tapmi and GIM are somewhat in a similar league and their placement figures are more or less similar. However, the roles offered in these institutes differ. While Tapmi is known for finance, GIM stands out in marketing. Between these two I would recommend going for Tapmi over GIM because of 2 reasons:

  • Tapmi has a stronger alumni base and there is more discipline inside the campus.
  • The fees of GIM are on the higher side and offer a poor ROI (Return on Investment) compared to Tapmi.

Which one is better among IMT Gaziabad, XIM Bhubaneswar, and SIIB Pune?

SB

You should consider XIM Bhubaneshwar over IMT Ghaziabad, and SIIB Pune as your choice of B-school. Following are the pros and cons.

Pros:

  • XIMB has its own unique culture and selects students who fit into that culture.
  • The institute provides a great student life on campus, with excellent faculty and a lot of freedom for students.
  • The geographical disadvantage of the institute is compensated by almost 100% placements, especially for above-average students.
  • XIMB provides a lot of opportunities for interaction with industry experts, giving students good exposure.
  • The alumni of XIMB are doing well in almost all big corporate houses, which helps in placements and career moves after the first job.
  • Being an XIMB alum carries a lot of brand value and credibility.

Cons:

  • XIMB's location is a disadvantage that may affect its rankings.
  • The quota system, although rigorous, goes against XIMB in rankings.

What is your review of Xavier Institute of Management (XIMB), Bhubaneswar? Is it worth doing an MBA from this institute? What are its placements like?

SG

MBA in Mark, Fin and Sys Business Management, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (2019)

My friend was a student at XIMB and all the points mentioned below are based on his experience at XIMB.

  • Location: Located at the center of the city, no commute difficulties are posed and you can access all off-campus facilities with ease. But the new campus is a bit far from the city and is bigger. Both campuses have world-class facilities.
  • Campus Life: Life at XIMB is rigorous and lively and you will always be occupied with classes, committee elections, quizzes, case study competitions, cultural events, and guest lectures. But this rigor will help you learn time management. Nightlife on campus is exciting as a number of exciting things take place at night
  • Friendships: Every good college experience requires a good group of friends without which your survival might become more difficult. This friendship will stay with you throughout the year.
  • Hostel: The hostel life is thrilling and you will develop an affinity for your Hostel and your Hostel Block will become your pride and identity.
  • Faculty: The faculty reside within the campus and are some of the best in the country.
  • Case Study Competitions: You can participate in all the major case study competitions to portray your business problem-solving skills.
  • Xpressions: This event is in the limelight of the Institute as it showcases what XIMB actually is. The event welcomes some of the top celebrities and gives an exciting experience.
  • Placements: Placements are at level with the top 20 colleges. XIMB maintains a decent placement record over years. Recently, the institute released its 2022 placement report. According to the report, the highest salary, average salary & median salary increased by nearly 34.2%, 15.78% & 17.9% respectively as compared to the previous year. The highest salary offered was INR 32.21 LPA & average salary stood at INR 17.54 LPA. The median salary offered was INR 17.10 LPA.

Life at XIMB will give you an abundance of memories and knowledge about yourself, life and competitions. Make the best of those 2 years and try to be involved in every possible activity as you won’t get to relive these days and get back those days again.

Is It worth to join B schools like IMT/IMI/XIMB whose fees are around 20 lakhs if I have calls from reputed government colleges on par with these?

SB
Suntonu Basu Posted On : March 13th, 2023
Professor of Finance at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (2015-present)

Before I talk about the worth of private B Schools like IMT/IMI/XIMB, let’s consider their average packages.

B School

Average Package

IMT

INR 17.35 LPA

IMI Delhi

INR 17.01 LPA

XIMB

INR 20 LPA

The average package of government colleges like IITs and DSE is slightly less around INR 10.57 LPA. So the point is if you are ready to invest a hefty amount in B Schools, you will not regret the decision as they are game changers. The level of exposure and diversity is almost higher than in Government colleges. IITs, DFS and DSE MBAs have a more theoretical approach than a practical one. However, the figures for private B schools are inflated so do consider the ups and downs.

  • IITs are best for operations and manufacturing industries
  • IMT or XIMB is a good option for Marketing
  • DFS or IMI are best suited for Finance
  • XIMB or DSE are best for HR

The final decision is up to you. Try to find what exactly you want from MBA

  • If you are looking for the IIT tag, then IIT
  • If you are after ROI or PhD then DSE or DFS
  • If you want to climb the corporate ladder, XIMB is the best

Make a well-informed decision after proper research.

What is the format for X-GMAT for admission to XIMB and is it only for Odisha Domicile students?

BS
Bikash Pratap Singh Posted On : March 13th, 2023

No, X-GMT is not only for Domicile students and every one can appear for the X-GMT exam.

The X-GMT is the entrance test conducted by the Xavier University of Bhubaneswar (XUB). The test is conducted for admissions into Master’s programs offered in Human Resources Management, Business Management, Rural Management, Management programs for Executives, and integrated Ph.D. programs.

The duration of the online X-GMT test is 120 minutes. The test consisted of 5 sections namely

  • quantitative ability (QA)
  • data interpretation (DI)
  • comprehension & logical reasoning (CLR),
  • emotional quotient (EQ)
  • general knowledge & current affairs (GKC).

The nature and time of questions is similar to that of various entrance tests for management education. The medium of the test is only the English language.

Which college should I prefer for Finance: XIMB BM, IMT G or IMI Delhi?

PD
Pinaki Dasgupta Posted On : March 3rd, 2023
Worked at Engineers India Limited

In choosing your B-school, the primary factors that you should consider are, the specialization you want to opt for and the ROI you are expecting. In your case, you want to go for Finance. The list of preferred B Schools you mentioned has similar fees and placements so I will be answering solely based on specialization.

Finance: IMI Delhi is the best choice of all the options when it comes to Finance. A premium quality crowd opts for Finance at IMI Delhi and the main reason is the customized MBA program in Finance. Many companies of the Finance sector visit the campus for placements. Finance students also avail the best opportunities and guidance and have a higher level of security than Marketing students.

However, in case you have more than 2-3 years of work experience, IMI Delhi is not a suitable option. Although you may stand out among your batchmates, the companies visiting the campus are not aware of this and offer roles suitable for less experienced students only. So your work experience may not be credited here.

The general preference order should be: IMI D>XIMB>IMT G

Which one to choose? XIMB vs Sydenham vs IMT Ghaziabad?

PM
Priyank Mishra Posted On : March 14th, 2022
studied at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar

XIMB is a better brand among these colleges. It also offers a better average CTC to the students. As per the 2021 placement report, XIMB average package is INR 15.51 LPA.

IMT Ghaziabad is also a reputed B-School and ranks among the top 15 in the country. The average CTC for IMT G is INR 12.4 LPA. If you are interested in a marketing specialization, IMT can be a great option. One of the disadvantages of IMT is its huge batch size of almost around 700.

Sydenham offers a good ROI. As you can complete an MBA within 5 lakhs and the average CTC offered to students is around INR 10 LPA. But it’s difficult to get Sydenham, as the number of seats is limited for students without a Maharashtra domicile.

Between XIMB and IMT, you can choose the former due to the lower batch strength and better average CTC.
