Should I go for B.Tech Instrumentation & Control Engineering in NIT Trichy or B.Tech Artificial Intelligence in NIT Surathkal?

EnigmaticEye Posted On : March 30th, 2026

Hi...Ok...so Instrumentation and Control Engineering is a unique, circuit-oriented branch, and the academic structure at NIT Trichy is excellent, making you eligible for most companies that visit campus. Placements are decent. This branch has a good scope as well. If you're not familiar with what it entails, it focuses on sensor manufacturing. Just look around you and see how many sensors are part of your daily life. That's the potential! You might feel at some point that you left the core branch of Mechanical Engineering, which is also offered at MNNIT Allahabad. It's definitely an evergreen branch; you'll always find opportunities in the market, no matter the situation. People are generally more aware of Mechanical Engineering, but few know about Instrumentation and Control Engineering if you ask around. NIT Trichy is ranked higher than MNNIT Allahabad in every aspect. NIT Trichy is ranked 1st, while MNNIT Allahabad is around 4th or 5th, if I remember correctly. I chose NIT Trichy over MNNIT Allahabad, and being from U.P., I can confidently say it was the right decision. I opted for Metallurgy at NIT Trichy over other branches at MNNIT Allahabad. I wasn't getting any core branch there, by the way. I've learned and improved in many ways that I wouldn't have otherwise.

How do the placements really compare between NIT Trichy B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering and IIT Indore B.Tech Metallurgical and Materials Engineering?

I’ve looked into the placements for NIT Trichy B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and IIT Indore B.Tech in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, and it’s clear that NIT Trichy generally has the edge in terms of job prospects. They have a strong track record with tech giants and consistent on-campus internships, which really boost employability. IIT Indore offers great opportunities too, but the Metallurgical and Materials field can sometimes be niche, leading to fewer opportunities compared to the broader electrical field at NIT Trichy. If you’re aiming for a tech-focused career, NIT Trichy would be a safer bet, while IIT Indore might be better if you’re passionate about materials engineering and willing to navigate a more specialized job market.

SteelSorcerer Posted On : March 28th, 2026

NIT Trichy’s B.Tech in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering offers superior placement prospects compared to Jadavpur University's Information Technology program. With a placement percentage around 90% and top companies visiting for recruitment, NIT Trichy boasts a highest package of 51 LPA and an average of 12 LPA, making it a strong contender for job opportunities. In contrast, while Jadavpur University also provides good internship options, it lacks the same level of corporate engagement and package potential as NIT Trichy.

If you’re aiming for the best job prospects and lucrative packages, NIT Trichy is the way to go; however, if you have a passion for IT and prefer a less stressful curriculum, Jadavpur University could be a good fit.

NIT Trichy’s B.Tech in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering offers a strong placement package with an impressive highest salary of 51 LPA and a solid average of around 12 LPA, along with a placement percentage of 90%. In comparison, Jadavpur University’s BE in Electrical Engineering also has good internship opportunities but lacks specific data on package outcomes, making it harder to gauge its overall effectiveness in placements. NIT Trichy’s reputation as a top-tier NIT attracts major MNCs, giving it an edge in job prospects. So, if you're focused on maximizing your job opportunities and potential salary, I’d recommend NIT Trichy, especially if you’re okay with Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. If you're passionate about electrical engineering and value a reputed university experience, Jadavpur can still be a good pick.

NIT Trichy for B.Tech Metallurgical and Materials Engineering has a strong reputation with a high placement percentage of around 90% and impressive packages, like the highest at 51 LPA. The campus life is vibrant with annual fests and a chill curriculum that allows students to pursue side hustles. In contrast, Jadavpur University for BE Electrical Engineering offers good internship opportunities and a supportive environment but lacks the same level of placement success and package potential, especially in tech-heavy industries. Personally, I'd lean towards NIT Trichy due to its better placement prospects and overall student experience, making it a solid choice for anyone serious about securing a great job post-graduation.

Is IIM Kashipur worth joining or should I join NIT Trichy and reappear for the CAT??

D
DizzyDingo Posted On : February 25th, 2026

IIM Kashipur is a good choice, but if this was your first go at it, you might consider giving it another shot next year for a better college. Avoid enrolling in NIT Trichy or any other place just for the sake of it, as it's not a wise move. If you decide to take the CAT in 2020, make sure to focus and put in the effort. Good luck!
