DistortedDawn Posted On : April 1st, 2026

The MBA program at IIT Delhi's Department of Management Studies is fantastic! I enrolled because I wanted to upskill and gain corporate exposure. The faculty is top-notch, with a 6:1 student-to-faculty ratio, which means we get a lot of personalized attention. They come from Tier 1 institutes like IIM Ahmedabad and BCG, which adds immense value to our learning. The placement opportunities are incredible too! We have a 100% placement record, with companies like Accenture and Dr. Reddy's offering internships that pay up to 2 lakh per month. The highest package last year was 45 lakhs CTC, and the median was around 25 lakhs. Overall, I feel this course is a great step towards my future career.

What is the total approx fees of IIT Delhi for B.Tech Chemical Engineering??

E
EruditeEmu Posted On : April 1st, 2026

Here's the Semester 1 breakdown of fees for UG students who took admission in 2023–24:

While this includes adjustments for JOSAA counseling fees and some one-time security deposits, it does not cover mess charges. The breakdown for the second semester is as follows (General/OBC with Annual Family income > ? 5 Lakh):

  • ? 1,05,750 for Tuition & Exams
  • ? 26,800 for Mess
  • ? 13,250 for Hostel accommodation

This brings the grand total to ? 1,45,800!

The largest portion of the fees is, of course, the tuition fee (as shown above).

(I’m not even sure what the Student Distress Fund Scheme is or that it exists!)

Additionally, there are multiple scholarship opportunities available once you are in IIT Delhi, which is a topic worth discussing separately.

Is it worth doing a B.Tech + M.Tech Chemical Engineering from IIT Delhi or not? What are its placement records and whats your experience with this college so far?

I can provide a clearer perspective on this. There are 4 main strategies to secure a good job. As a current DR, I’ll share the reality.

1. Maintain a CGPA of 8+: You don’t need a 9+, but focus in class and solidify your concepts before third-year internships. This will help you land internships with companies like HUL, GSK, or ITC. Perform well during your internship to secure a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO). The catch? Selection in Group Discussions (GD) is often luck-based and depends on your group.

2. Placements: There are limited core companies offering decent salaries and future prospects. Your options mainly include consulting, finance, or coding.

  • Consulting: Aim for a CGPA of 8+. Networking is crucial—make connections, and you’ll likely make it to the shortlist. The rest hinges on your interview and case study preparation.
  • Finance: Again, aim for a CGPA of 8+. Engage with economics courses and take online classes on platforms like EDX or Coursera. Success depends on your written test and interview performance.
  • Coding: CGPA is less critical here. Focus on computer science courses, especially Data Structures. Regularly brush up on your concepts, and you’ll find a coding job quite easily.

3. The Toughest Choice: If you aim for a CGPA of 8.7+, engage in research projects, and if possible, secure an internship abroad, consider pursuing a PhD. This will significantly enhance your chances of getting into a top 30 program, if not Stanford.

Should I go for B.Tech Mathematics and Computing in IIT Delhi or B.Tech Aerospace Engineering in IIT Kharagpur?

CatPictureCritic Posted On : March 31st, 2026

IIT Delhi is definitely a better choice, not just because it's closer to home, but because you don't have a specific interest. In that case, IIT Delhi is the best option for you!

Here’s why:

  • Flexibility: At IIT, you can explore various subjects. You can even take computer science courses while being in a different branch like chemical engineering!
  • Opportunities: IIT Delhi offers a wide range of electives and interdisciplinary studies, allowing you to tailor your education to your interests.
  • Networking: Being in a vibrant environment with diverse students can open up numerous opportunities for collaboration and growth.

So, if you’re unsure about your path, IIT Delhi is the way to go!

Which one should I opt for IIT Delhi B.Tech Computer Science Engineering or IIT Kharagpur B.Tech + M.Tech Chemical Engineering

F
FrostFang Posted On : March 31st, 2026

All the perks available to B.Tech students are also available to dual degree students. All the companies that recruit B.Tech graduates also consider them. Plus, you receive a stipend of Rs. 12,000 per month in your final year. So, why not spend an extra year to earn an additional degree?

However, if you’re not planning to stay in this field, then pursuing another degree might not be worthwhile.

Another point to consider is that Delhi is an amazing metro city with plenty of weekend getaway options. Manali, Shimla, Rishikesh are all nearby! I'm leaning towards IIT Delhi, and it's a good idea to connect with someone currently studying this course there. Just message me if you want an introduction!

Is doing B.Tech Energy Engineering from IIT Delhi any good?

E
EarthboundElf Posted On : March 31st, 2026

I’m currently in my first year of B.Tech Energy Engineering at IIT Delhi, and I can say that the experience is pretty enlightening. The curriculum covers a lot, which is great, but it sometimes feels overwhelming since we also study subjects outside our specialization. The professors are knowledgeable, but not all of them engage well with students. I’ve yet to explore internship opportunities, but I’ve heard great things about placements. Companies like Ola and Bajaj visit for recruitment, and the highest package last year was an impressive 4 Crore! Just remember that the hostel fees can add up, so it’s wise to check for financial aid options.

Should I go for B.Tech Electrical Engineering in IIT Delhi or B.Tech Computer Science and Biosciences in IIIT Delhi?

UnrepentantUdon Posted On : March 31st, 2026

I recommend going for B.Tech in Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi. B.Tech in Computer Science and Biosciences is a relatively new program, so I can't provide much insight on it.

Here are a few points to consider:

  • You can still do coding with an ECE degree!
  • CSB might limit you to a specific direction in your career.

Choose wisely!

The end semester results for the MBA program at IIT Delhi usually take about 4 to 6 weeks to be declared after the exams wrap up. It can feel like a long wait sometimes, especially after all the stress of finals, but it gives us time to relax a bit before getting back into the grind of projects and placements.
