How restricted/conservative is life at BIMTECH Noida?

SA
Sanjeev Agarwal Posted On : February 19th, 2021
P.G.D.M. from Birla Institute of Management Technology (2019)

BIMTECH is one the famous Business schools in our country and offers hostel facilities for both male and female students.

Entry Timings:

For female students:

The female students of both 1st year and 2nd year live at the hostel and are required to enter the hostel by 7:30 PM during summer season and by 6:30 PM during winter season. If in some situation, they get late then they have to write an email to the hostel warden describing their reason for being late and take permission.

For male students:

The entry timing for male students at hostel is 9 PM because their hostel is around 1.5 km away from the college. It can take some more time to reach the hostel. However, if they get late in any case, they too have to write an email to their hostel warden describing the reason and take permission.

Smoking and Alcohol:

Smoking and consumption of alcohol are prohibited inside the campus and if someone is found in any of these situations then he/she will have to pay a fine to the college. They also might need to vacate the hostel.

Attendance:

All the students are required to maintain an attendance of 60%. If someone's attendance is below the required percentage then he/she may not be able to sit in exams.

Apparel:

All the students are required to be well dressed and wear decent clothes to the premises and avoid wearing shorts. This rule is in place because many faculties live on campus.

Professors:

The professors here are very friendly. If students have any doubts or want to talk about something they can easily get to the professors and have a conversation.

Some of the facts discussed below can make the institute seem restrictive. Your overall experience at the institute will be great. There are many events, and extracurricular activities, conducted around the academic year which you can enjoy.

How are PEC Chandigarh hostels at present and how is the campus?

PB
Prajakta Bose Posted On : May 2nd, 2021
Studied at PEC Chandigarh

PEC Chandigarh is a government college and the hostels are okayish as these are typical government college hostels. There are different hostels for each year students with spacious rooms and from the second year onwards, each student gets their own separate room and this is the best thing about PEC Chandigarh hostels.

  • Food provided in the mess is okay.
  • The environment is clean.
  • There are good indoor game facilities like Table Tennis, Carrom, etc. The institute also has various hostel clubs.
  • The washrooms of the hostel are not clean and the condition is very bad, which is a major drawback. The washrooms are only good at the Shivalik hostel.
  • Also, per room, there will be one fan provided. Although you can secretly use a cooler for the 4 years of your stay.

These are a few of the major things that you should know about the hostels at PEC Chandigarh.

Both IIT Dharwad and IIT Goa are premier engineering institutes in India and offer excellent academic programs in various fields of engineering. However, if you are looking for a specific recommendation based on accessibility, infrastructure, hostel, and mess, it would be suggested to consider the following:

Accessibility:

  • IIT Goa is located in the state of Goa, which is a popular tourist destination and has good connectivity to major cities through air, rail, and road networks.
  • IIT Dharwad is located in Karnataka and has good connectivity by road, rail, and air, with Hubli Airport being the nearest airport.

Infrastructure:

  • IIT Goa has a newly constructed campus with state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities, including a modern library, computer labs, auditoriums, and sports facilities.
  • IIT Dharwad has a green campus spread over a large area and boasts a modern infrastructure, including smart classrooms, well-equipped labs, and a central library.

Hostel and Mess:

  • IIT Goa has well-maintained hostels and mess facilities that provide hygienic food and comfortable accommodation to students.
  • IIT Dharwad also has good hostel and mess facilities with separate hostels for boys and girls and a variety of food options in the mess.

Based on the above factors, both IIT Dharwad and IIT Goa are good options to consider. However, it would be suggested to choose IIT Goa for its better accessibility and modern infrastructure.

NS
Nilam Sinha Posted On : July 15th, 2022
B.Tech. from Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU)

MJPRU offers a pleasant campus experience. It may take some time to get used to the environment, at first. Classes are regular, the university schedule offers a lot of time to prepare for entrance examinations.

MJPRU placements are decent. Around 50-60% of students get placed through the campus drive each year. Infosys, Justdial, Aditya Birla, etc.  Many students also opt for off-campus placements.

How is the social life of students of IIIT Kottayam and IIIT Bhopal, and where do they chill out during weekends?

Pranjal Singhal Posted On : March 9th, 2021

My friend is currently studying at IIIT Bhopal and they usually get loads of assignments and projects which keep them really busy. All the IIITs are quite known for their hectic routine and getting 8 hours of sleep daily also becomes a chilling session at times.

Although you may not experience a super-happening college life which is often shown in movies. But you can still find good friends and enjoy the peaceful environment there at the campus.

However, my friend has listed some weekend chilling options you might want to know:

  • You can head to DB City Mall, New Market for shopping.
  • The advantage of being at IIIT Bhopal is you also get exposure to places like Lalghati, Jain Mandir, and Karond.
  • Also, they now have a Training and Placement cell of MANIT where you can chill more often.

At the end of the day, engineering is never easy and always has a packed schedule. It all depends on how you manage to keep studies and enjoyment balanced without compromising in either of them.

Will the new upcoming IIMs like (Rohtak, Ranchi, Trichy) overtake the SPJIMR in a few years?

PG
Payal Gupta Posted On : January 10th, 2023
PGDM from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (Graduated 2018)

Except for IIM Rohtak, the new upcoming IIMs like Trichy and Ranchi face tough competition with SP Jain. They are almost in the same league based on certain parameters and are bound to overtake SP Jain in the future. Let’s discuss some of these parameters

  1. Students profile: IIM Trichy takes in students with a slightly higher CAT score than SP Jain thereby the quality of the batch is better.
  2. Faculty: The faculty of IIM Trichy is comparable with SP Jain in many areas.
  3. Placements: Although the placements at SP Jain are better than these new IIMs, they have been stagnant for the past few years. Moreover, the placements at IIM Trichy and Ranchi are getting better every year.
  4. Growth potential: SP Jain has a decent growth potential but not more than the new IIMs. Their potential looks more promising.
  5. Alumni base: SP Jain has an upper hand in this aspect due to its early establishment.
  6. Location: SP Jain is at a better location than the new IIMs and they might suffer because of this. Yet some consider the city of Trichy not too far away from Mumbai and the disadvantage does not seem that huge.

All in all, there are high chances of the new IIMs taking over SP Jain anytime in the near future.

What are the best student organizations or clubs to join at CSVTU? Why should students join them?

AD
Arya Dey, Posted On : October 25th, 2021
M.Tech Mechanical & Production Engineering & Energy Conservation, Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University (2018)

There are several clubs and Associations at the college. It totally depends on you in which area your interest lies, whether in cultural or technology or sports, etc.

You can become an active member of your college cultural committee or you can become a member of your respective branch association run by respective departments of your college. One of my friends was one of the core members of the department at this college and he used to organize the tech-fest.

Apart from this CSVTU also organizes cultural and sports events every year at youth fests, so you can become a part of that too.

If you are enthusiastic about learning new things, then this is the right time to explore the opportunities.

Are LAN facilities and DC++ hubs available in PEC Chandigarh? How is the Wi-Fi strength on campus and hostels?

SD
Shruti Das Posted On : May 5th, 2021
Studied at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh (2018)

Yes the LAN facilities are available but using DC++ is prohibited in the whole campus. Let us discuss them in detail, which might give you a clear idea.

  • LAN facilities: They are available in computer centers and other labs. LAN ports are also available in hostel common rooms but are not available in personal hostel rooms or in libraries.
  • WiFi service: The entire academic block including the classrooms has high-speed wifi connectivity. You need a login ID and password to access the internet on campus which will be unique for each and every student and can be connected to a maximum of one device. Almost all the hostel rooms have amazing wifi signal strength except for a few. There are some instances where signal strength might be low but will be back in a few hours to a day.

Few tips with the internet connection on campus:

  • Use VPN if required.
  • Consume as much of the internet as you want as there is no limit to usage.
  • If you have friends in the placement committee, getting their wifi password comes in handy as they have no limit for the number of devices to get connected to wifi.
  • Install 'Connectify' on your laptop.

To sum up, the PEC campus has WiFi and LAN facilities but using DC++ is blocked. Signal strength is pretty decent.

How is IIM Nagpur for a fresher?

SG
Shubham Gehlot Posted On : January 17th, 2023
UG Medical Student from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur (Expected 2026)

If you are a fresher and not sure about joining IIM Nagpur, you can consider the following factors

  • Options: A very important aspect while choosing a college is the list of options you are choosing from. You might have a different plethora of options than others. Research the placements, faculty, and infrastructure of these colleges and then decide.
  • Academic background: IIM Nagpur offers excellent exposure and placements to students who are Software oriented or with a Finance backfiring. But, if in case, you have an interest in core backgrounds, then your chances are low as recruiters prefer experienced professionals for such roles
  • Personal Interest: If you are included in developing technical skills rather than managerial skills then IIM Nagpur is definitely a good option.
  • Roles offered: Freshers, as well as experienced students, are offered roles in Product Management, Business Analysis, Consulting etc. IIM Nagpur has an excellent alumni base and teaching methodology for these roles specifically.

I think IIM Nagpur does not discriminate much between freshers and experienced people. So don’t worry and give your luck a try.
